Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of statistics in the evaluation of Guidance and Counseling (BK) services based on literature analysis. The evaluation of guidance and counseling services requires a systematic and data-based approach to ensure the effectiveness of the services provided to students. The results show that descriptive statistics are widely used to present basic data on services, while inferential statistics such as t-test, ANOVA, and regression are utilized to assess the effectiveness of interventions and relationships between variables. Outcome based evaluation is becoming an increasingly adopted approach to improving service quality. The main challenges identified were the limited competence of counselors in statistical analysis and the lack of systemic support in educational institutions. On the other hand, advances in technology and statistical software have made it easier to conduct quantitative service evaluations. This study emphasizes the importance of improving statistical literacy for counselors and the integration of data-based evaluation systems in the development of adaptive and effective counseling programs.

Abstract

Nowadays, bullying among adolescents, especially in the school environment, continues to show an increase, which has a major impact on the mental health of victims. One phenomenon that often appears in adolescent victims of bullying is low assertiveness, which is reflected in the tendency of victims to remain silent, unable to express their opinions, and not daring to defend their personal rights. One of the factors that affect assertiveness is the situation of the peer environment (peer social support). This study aims to describe the level of peer social support and assertiveness in adolescent victims of bullying, and analyze the relationship between the two. This study uses a quantitative method of correlational type. The population was 246 students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang aged 13–15 years (48.3% male and 51.7% female) who were identified as bullying victims. A sample of 152 students was taken by Stratified Random Sampling based on class strata. Data were collected using a peer social support questionnaire and a bullying victim assertiveness questionnaire, with sample items "Friends comfort me when I am belittled by others" and "I keep quiet when friends take my things without permission". The results of data analysis using the Pearson product moment technique, the results showed that peer social support and assertiveness were in the high category. Pearson correlation indicated a moderate positive association between peer social support and assertiveness, r = 0.462, 95% CI (0.40-0.59), 0.000 < 0.001, N = 152. There is a positive and significant relationship between peer social support and assertiveness of adolescent victims of bullying. The higher the peer social support, the higher the assertiveness of students who are victims of bullying.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of peer conformity, as well as to determine the differences in peer conformity between male and female students at SMPN 1 Benai. The research method used is a quantitative method with a comparative research type. The sample in this study amounted to 142 with 71 male students and 71 female students. The sampling technique in this study was proportional random sampling. The data collection technique was carried out using a closed questionnaire. The data analysis technique used was the independent sample t-test. The results of the study showed that there were differences in peer conformity between male and female students with a significance value of p = 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05. When viewed from the average, female students had a higher level of conformity (mean = 99.51) than male students (mean = 93.49). This finding is important because it shows that differences in the level of conformity can affect how students adjust to group norms, both in aspects of behavior, attitudes, and beliefs. This research provides insights for educators and guidance and counseling teachers to design guidance and counseling services that can direct student conformity in a positive direction, thereby supporting personal and social development in the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between academic stress and online gaming addiction among high school students. The research involved 258 students from SMAN 1 Baso, selected through a stratified random sampling technique. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. The instruments used were the Academic Stress Scale and the Online Gaming Addiction Scale, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test with the help of SPSS version 20.0 for Windows. The results indicated that students' academic stress levels were in the moderate category (56.08%), while their online gaming addiction levels were also moderate (57.11%). Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between academic stress and online gaming addiction (r = 0.356; p < 0.05). This indicates that the higher the level of academic stress experienced by students, the higher their tendency toward online gaming addiction. These findings are expected to serve as a foundation for school counselors and educational institutions in designing prevention and intervention programs to reduce both academic stress and online gaming addiction among students.

Abstract

Counseling education plays a crucial role in both classroom and extracurricular learning contexts. It can serve as a foundational paradigm for educational practices in society. Substance Use Disorder (SUD) presents significant global and local challenges that can disrupt the educational landscape in Indonesia, particularly due to its high prevalence in correctional institutions, which often leads to accompanying psychological issues such as anxiety that hinder rehabilitation. This study examined the effectiveness of group counseling using a Cognitive Behavior Modification (CBM) approach combined with relaxation techniques in reducing anxiety among incarcerated individuals with SUD at Padang Class IIA Correctional Institution. Employing a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group, 16 participants were selected through purposive sampling and divided into experimental (n=8) and control (n=8) groups. Anxiety was measured using a 32-item Likert scale adapted from Nevid et al. (2018), and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann–Whitney U Test. The findings revealed a significant decrease in anxiety levels in the experimental group (mean pretest = 136.38, posttest = 54.38, p = 0.012, N-Gain = 78.56%), outperforming the control group (p = 0.027). These results support the role of CBM in restructuring maladaptive thinking and highlight the contribution of relaxation techniques to emotional stability. This intervention provides a promising evidence-based option for mental health programs in Indonesia and offers valuable insights for policy development to enhance rehabilitation and promoting high quality education, especially in the world of educational psychology learning.
