Abstract

The shipping industry is one of the industries that can advance global economic integration. Currently, the commercial shipbuilding sector is dominated by China, Japan, Korea, and European countries. The domestic shipping supporting industry has not met all the needs of domestic ships, both warships and commercial ships, and ships used for domestic shipping are almost entirely purchases of used vessels from abroad because they are cheap. In contrast, the contribution of the domestic industry only accounts for less than 10%. This research aimed to formulate a development strategy for the shipping industry by increasing competitiveness to support maritime policies and fulfill the needs of the TNI's Alutsista. This study used the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method. The results showed that the priority strategies that could be implemented comprise seven clusters: Supporting industries (share technology development), core industries (technological capabilities), engineering specifications and designs (idea), feasibility studies (technological readiness), research and development (technological innovation), factor conditions (human resources), and government (long-term program). There are different priority strategies in each cluster. Keywords: analytical network process (anp), competitiveness, shipbuilding industry

Abstract

Seagrass ecosystem has important roles in ecological and social factors to support fisherman income. The purpose of this research was to map the social-ecological system connectivity of seagrass with small-scale fisheries with networks perspective, to identify social-ecological connectivity of seagrass with fisheries resource availability approaches in small-scale fisheries, and to estimate the benefits of fish resources relation to seagrass ecosystem in Malang Rapat and Berakit vilages. Social-ecological system connectivity of seagrass was proven by the spatial distribution of fishing areas, networks map markets, and dynamics of small-scale fisheries catches in the study site. Social-ecocoligal connectivity of seagrass was also proven by fish catches dominated by Siganidae, Scaridae, Lethrinidae, and Lutjanidae families. The fishermen income was supported by seagrass ecosystem connectivity which contributed revenue from fish catches totally Rp 202,124,00/day in Malang Rapat village and Rp. 193,151,00/day  in Berakit village. Other benefit of seagrass ecosystem located nearby the beach was that the fishermen can have an easy access or less fuel for fishing operation. Keywords: seagrass ecosystem, network map, connectivity, small-scale fisheries, social-ecological system, Riau islands

Abstract

Local ecological knowledge (LEK) refers to the knowledge of people in a local community that can be used in assessing environmental conditions as well as reflecting the interaction that occur in an ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to examine condition of coral reef ecosystem based on the LEK’s community in a marine protected area east coast weh island (KKPD PTPW) Sabang. Assessment of the coral reef condition based on the local’s ecological knowledge is justified from the suitability of the area by comparing map of the coral reefs condition based on LEK and observation map of the coral reefs condition during the study. Based on LEK, it is known that in the PTPW Sabang region coral reefs which falls under deteriorated class is found in the northern sea of Kelurahan Kota Atas, while those which falls under good condition class are found in Ie Meule and Ujung Kareng as well as in Anoi Itam except Benteng. Result from the observations done in 13 stations found that sea region near Sumur Tiga, Ujung Kareung and Benteng have a good coral reefs with a coverage range of 51-65 %. While the sea in Ujung Seuke, Anoi Itam and Reuteuk have a moderate coral reefs with a percentage of coverage ranging from 44- 49. Respondents’ perceptions of the coral reef condition during the last 10 years which include 55% respondents in Ie Meule and 74.29% of respondend in Anoi Itam stated that there is an increment of coral reefs coverage.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe interactions of the socio-ecological systems in the coastal villages often create problems, ranging from the declining ecological quality to social conflicts. This study aimed not only to analyze the socio-ecological systems in the villages of Blanakan, Tanjungtiga, Rawameneng, and Mayangan, but also to find out the connectivity network of socio-ecological systems of the integrated coastal villages. The data collected included primary and secondary data related to social and ecological systems. The data analysis was performed in descriptive-quantitative and descriptive-spatial manners. The results showed that the socio-ecological systems of Blanakan Village, Tanjungtiga Village, Rawameneng Village, and Mayangan Village were composed of resource networks such as fish resources, ecosystem resources, land resources, and water resources used by fishermen, farmers and general public. The sustainable utilization of the resources was supported by the availability of infrastructure provided by the government and the private sector. The connectivity network of socio-ecological ecosystems of the integrated coastal villages showed that the social systems among coastal villages were connected through educational interactions, fishermen institutions, health services, and other interactions, while the interaction of the ecological system was connected through fishing ground networks and the shared utilization of mangrove ecosystems, especially between Blanakan Village and Mayangan Village.

Abstract

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) is a bacterial colonization of plant roots that can stimulate the growth of plants directly or indirectly. The PGPR mechanism indirectly results in plant growth as it suppresses the growth of phytopathogen. This study aims to determine the ability of Pseudomonas sp. and Bacillus sp. in controlling the pathogenic root fungal pathogenic fungi. Isolates in this study were Pseudomonas sp. Crb 3, Crb 17, Crb 17i, Crb 68 and Bacillus sp. Cr 24, Cr 44, Cr 66 co-inoculated with B. japonicum in soybean plants in greenhouses. An antagonistic activity test was performed on all isolates and all isolates showed no antagonistic activity. Treatment of combination of strain Pseudomonas sp.Crb 17, Crb 17i and Bacillus sp. Cr 24 inoculated with B. japonicum suppresses the growth of root rot fungi and increases peroxidase. Therefore, Pseudomonas sp. Crb 17, Crb 17i and Bacillus sp. Cr 24 can be used as a biocontrol agent for pathogenic fungi causing plant root disease.

Abstract

School was second place for children to get knowledge and develop skills or talents. A great school and accordance with the character of the child will be able to guide children toward a better future. There are many factors that influence parents in choosing a kindergarten school for children affected from both the internal parents, schools or internal environment. The author would like to see the factors that influence whether parents in choosing a kindergarten school for children and whether there is a relationship between internal indicators of parents, school internally, and the environment. Internal indicators of parents, school internally, and the environment in question include: parent education, parental employment, parental income, school programs, teacher background, facilities, location, promotion, reputation, cost, references, traditions, parents and the learning process. The analysis used were factor analysis and canonical correlation analysis. The results showed that there are seven factors that influence parents in choosing a kindergarten school which factors socio-economic background of parents, location, teacher backgroud, school status, environment, state school, and cost factors. Result of canonical correlation analysis showed that between internal indicators parent with internal school, among parents with the internal environment, and the relationshipbetween internal school and environment provides each significant effect.

Abstract

The need better understand the linkages and interdependencies of socio-economic and coastal environmental dynamics has taken on a more deliberate role in the development and assessment of Integrated Coastal Management on Batudaka islands. The DPSIR (drivers- pressures - states - impacts - responses) framework was used in scoping biodiversity management issues and problems. DPSIR model is to analyze the causative factors of pressure on the ecosystem of small islands and recommendations for environmental restoration effort. Results of the study showed that population and economic (tourism and fisheries demand) driving forces causing ecosystem vulnerable.  Land conversions, domestic waste, other pollutant was pressured this area, while increasing driving forces. The State environmental as waters quality is still relative well for tourisms and fisheries activity, physical impact as abrasion and sedimentation, habitat loss and biodiversity changes at 2000 until 2010 year at Batudaka Islands increase life coral and mangrove, decrease seagrass. Impact to environment  i.e. water abstraction,  sediment water fluxes across  coastal zones, change of habitats and biological diversity can be caused decreasing of coastal ecosystem. Functional diversity can be defined as a variety of different responses to environmental change, in particular the variety of spatial and temporal scales with which organisms reach to each other and to the environment.
