Abstract

The principles of justice and transparency are the main foundations of Islamic banking operations. These two principles ensure that every financing product and service not only complies with Sharia law but also provides tangible benefits to the wider community. This article comprehensively discusses how the principles of justice and transparency are applied in the Islamic banking financing system, as well as how their implementation contributes to the welfare of the community. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature analysis of various regulations, journals, and related fatwas. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of these two principles can foster economic stability, increase public trust, and ensure the achievement of the objectives of maqasid al-shariah in the financial sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Salam contracts as a sharia financing instrument in reducing price risks in the real sector, particularly agriculture and commodities. Through library research and a qualitative approach, this study examines the basic concepts of Salam contracts, their operational mechanisms in Islamic banking, and their effectiveness in providing price certainty and income stability for producers. The results show that Salam contracts can reduce price volatility by setting prices and specifications for goods at the outset of the contract. In addition, the application of parallel salam, production monitoring, and good risk management strengthen the effectiveness of this contract in dealing with market uncertainty. Thus, Salam contracts not only offer a fair Islamic solution, but also have the potential to become a price stabilization instrument that supports the sustainability of the real sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic bank financing institutions in supporting the economic independence of rural communities. Using a qualitative approach through interviews with local entrepreneurs, the study found that Islamic-based financing not only provides capital access but also builds responsibility, honesty, and blessings in economic activities. Islamic financial institutions play a strategic role in empowering rural MSMEs through profit-sharing and integrated financial education programs. The findings show that Islamic financing support increases local business productivity, enhances income, and strengthens sustainable rural economic independence.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the financing methods at PT Bank Sumut Sharia Business Unit, from feasibility analysis to financing monitoring. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative by collecting data through interviews, observations, and document studies. The findings of the study indicate that the bank has implemented the principle of prudence through 5C analysis and a rating system to assess customer eligibility. However, the character aspect of customers remains a major weakness due to the potential moral hazard that may arise after financing is disbursed. In the implementation stage of the contract, most financing is based on the murabahah contract including murabahah bil wakalah, but there is a lack of customer understanding regarding the contract, which can increase sharia risk. Financing monitoring is carried out through field supervision and persuasive handling of problematic financing and restructuring, but it is more curative in nature. Therefore, it is important to improve character analysis, education about contracts, and more preventive monitoring.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of Islamic banking services using a qualitative, interview-based approach. The primary focus of the study is students' understanding of Islamic service principles, their experiences as customers and prospective customers, and the factors influencing their assessment of service quality. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with several students from various study programs. The results indicate that most students have positive perceptions of Islamic banking service ethics and transaction security. However, complaints persist regarding the limited digitalization of services and the lack of socialization regarding Islamic products. This study recommends optimizing education, improving digital technology, and strengthening services based on the values ​​of maqāṣid al-Shari'ah (the principles of Islamic principles).

Abstract

Musharakah financing represents a core profit-and-loss sharing (PLS) instrument in Islamic banking, designed to promote equitable risk-sharing and support productive economic activities. However, its proportion within the financing portfolio of Islamic banks in Indonesia remains relatively limited and fluctuative compared to non-PLS contracts. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing musharakah financing in Islamic banking by focusing on internal bank performance indicators and external macroeconomic conditions. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing upon previous empirical studies, Islamic banking statistics, and regulatory documents related to PLS financing. The analysis reveals that internal factors such as non-performing financing (NPF), operational efficiency (BOPO), capital adequacy ratio (CAR), and third-party funds (DPK) consistently influence banks’ decisions in channeling musharakah financing. In addition, external factors including economic growth, inflation, and regulatory frameworks also play a significant role in shaping banks’ risk preferences toward partnership-based financing. These findings indicate that strengthening risk management, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring adequate capital structure are essential to support the sustainable development of musharakah financing in Islamic banking. This study is expected to contribute to the academic discourse on profit-sharing financing and provide strategic insights for Islamic banks in optimizing their financing portfolios.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic banking marketing strategies in supporting the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Islamic banks have a strategic position in providing Sharia-compliant financing as an alternative source of capital for MSMEs. This research aims to analyze how financing marketing strategies implemented by Islamic banks contribute to MSME growth. A qualitative research approach is employed using SWOT analysis to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats affecting the effectiveness of Sharia financing marketing. The findings indicate that compliance with Sharia principles, flexible financing contracts, strong community-based networks, and personalized services represent the main strengths of Islamic banks. However, limited understanding of Sharia contracts among MSME actors, inadequate digitalization, uneven human resource competencies, and restricted branch coverage remain internal challenges. Externally, MSME expansion, increasing demand for halal financial products, and supportive government policies provide significant opportunities, while competition from conventional banks, fintech platforms, online lending services, and low financial literacy pose serious threats. The study concludes that Islamic banks need to strengthen value-based marketing strategies rooted in Sharia principles while accelerating digital transformation. Enhancing Sharia financial literacy, developing innovative financing products, and reinforcing community-oriented marketing are recommended to improve MSME financing outreach.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and effectiveness of Islamic banking in financing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review, this research synthesizes data from books, scientific journals, and official publications from 2014 to 2024 related to Islamic banking and MSME development. The study reveals that Islamic banks play a crucial role in supporting MSMEs through profit-and-loss sharing schemes such as mudharabah, musyarakah, and murabahah, which emphasize fairness and partnership principles. Despite these advantages, several obstacles remain, including low Islamic financial literacy, limited collateral, and insufficient product innovation for micro-segments. The findings suggest that collaboration among Islamic banks, government, and financial technology institutions is necessary to enhance inclusion and innovation in Islamic financing. This research contributes theoretically to the development of Islamic financial models for MSMEs and provides practical implications for policymakers to strengthen the Islamic banking ecosystem in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Time Value of Money (TVM) concept across three major investment categories—money market instruments, real assets, and securities crowdfunding—by emphasizing how the principle of time-based value shapes the evaluation of risk, feasibility, and the real value of investment returns. Using data on policy interest rates, inflation levels, residential property price growth, rental yields, money market mutual fund performance, and the return–default ratio within the crowdfunding industry, this study demonstrates that TVM plays a crucial role in determining whether an investment can generate positive real value for investors. In the money market, TVM helps assess whether relatively low returns can withstand inflationary pressures and high benchmark interest rates; in real assets, it measures the long-term viability of rental income and capital gains amid moderate property price growth; and in crowdfunding, it becomes essential for evaluating uncertain cash flows and higher risks despite attractive nominal returns. The findings affirm that TVM is not merely a theoretical concept but a practical foundation necessary for making objective, rational, and measurable investment decisions within the dynamics of the modern economy.

Abstract

The growing public interest in Sharia-compliant investments has driven the need to utilize technology that facilitates access to the capital market. One emerging innovation is the Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS), a digital-based Sharia-compliant stock trading platform designed to help Muslim investors transact in accordance with Sharia principles. However, its use still garners less than favorable public perception, primarily because the system is still integrated with conventional mechanisms. This study aimed to determine the influence of Technology Use, Perceived Ease of Use, and Facilitating Conditions on stock investment decisions through SOTS. The method used was a quantitative approach with a causal associative approach. The study sample consisted of 85 active SOTS student users selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria. Data were collected online using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that the three independent variables simultaneously had a significant influence on stock investment decisions, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.745. Partially, Technology Use was the most dominant variable compared to the other variables. These findings confirm that the success of investing through Sharia-compliant digital platforms depends not only on the quality of the technology used, but also on the perceived ease of use of the system and the available infrastructure support. Therefore, system development and education for potential investors are crucial steps to increase public participation in Sharia-compliant stock investing in the digital era.
