Abstract

This study looks at implementation moderation in religion values in the use of loudspeakers at Amal Sholeh Mosque, located within a multicultural community. The primary focus is on the responses and perceptions of both Muslim and non- Muslim residents regarding the use of loudspeakers, as well as the extent to which the principles of religious moderation are reflected in interreligious social relations. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews and field observations. The findings indicate that although the term “Religious Moderation” is not widely recognized by the local community, its core values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence are evident in their daily practices. Nevertheless, complaints persist regarding the direction and volume of the loudspeakers, which are perceived as disturbing. Therefore, it is necessary to disseminate the technical regulations issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and to enhance collective awareness in order to foster a harmonious worship environment without compromising the comfort of surrounding residents.

Abstract

Abstract

One way to protect the public from exposure to cigarette smoke is to implement Smoke-Free Areas (SFAs). This activity was carried out through KTR advocacy in Banjarbaru City for the period May - August 2024. The implementing elements consisted of the Advocacy Team, the Health Office, Regional Work Units (RWUs), educational institutions, religious institutions, and student organizations in Banjarbaru City. The implementation method consisted of Initial Coordination, Audiences and FGD, SFA Task Force Coordination Meetings, Monitoring and Visual Intervention, Educational Socialization in schools, and Institutional Advocacy to RWU. The results of the activity included obtaining permits and directions for SFA activities, gaining support for SFA implementation in 7 settings, strengthening task force coordination, and using cigarette advertising tax data. In addition, it led to the signing of inter-agency commitments, the proposed revisions to the Task Force Decree, and the establishment of an online reporting system. The results of monitoring the implementation of SFA in Public Transportation recorded the highest violation rate at 75%, followed by public places (73.33%) and children's playgrounds (64.29%). Meanwhile, places of worship (40.38%) and workplaces (34.62%) showed moderate levels of violations. The socialization of SFA in schools received a positive response from students and teachers. The advocacy stage of the RWU, through a structural advocacy approach, increased awareness and institutional responsibility for the SFU policy. Strengthening the cross-agency reporting system, providing more extensive educational media in public spaces, and replicating socialization activities across other school levels are needed.

Abstract

Background: Elderly with hypertension are highly susceptible to psychological disorders, such as depression and anxiety, due to complex physiological and psychosocial changes. However, comprehensive studies examining the interplay of stress, anxiety, and depression within this population remain limited. The purpose of this study is to analyze mental health problems: Depression, Anxiety, Stress in the elderly with hypertension in the Mojosongo Region of Surakarta. Methods: This research method utilised a descriptive analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 39 elderly people who met the inclusion criteria, namely (1) elderly and (2) having systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg. The research instrument used the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), and data analysis was performed using Pearson's correlation test. Results: Mild depression was dominated by mild hypertension (63.6%), and moderate (76.9%) p=0.571. Mild anxiety was dominated by mild hypertension (54.5%), moderate (76.9%), and severe (75%) p=0.899, mild stress was dominant in mild hypertension (68.2%), moderate (69.2%), and severe (50%) p=0.719. Conclusion: This study found no significant association between the levels of depression, anxiety, or stress and the severity of hypertension. However, given the high prevalence of psychological distress observed in the descriptive findings, healthcare professionals should prioritize mental health screening in elderly patients. Managing these psychological conditions remains crucial for improving overall quality of life, even if it does not directly correlate with blood pressure reduction.

Abstract

Critical thinking is essential for students’ academic and life success, yet many students perform poorly because instructional approaches often fail to promote higher-order thinking. This study developed an interactive learning medium that integrates Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) using Articulate Storyline and evaluated its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ critical thinking about chemical bonding. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design based on the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Participants were 67 eleventh-grade students (34 from XI-1 and 33 from XI-4), aged 15–16 years. Data were collected using validation sheets, questionnaires, observation sheets, and pretest–posttest critical thinking tests. Results showed the media was valid (content validity index = 0.97), highly practical (mean practicality score = 4.33), and effective (mean N-gain = 0.77), indicating substantial improvement in students’ critical thinking. The study concludes that SSI-based interactive materials developed with Articulate Storyline are feasible and effective for teaching chemical bonding; theoretically, the findings support the role of SSI and digital interactive media in fostering higher-order thinking, and practically, teachers are recommended to adopt these materials to enhance critical-thinking instruction.
