Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis: (1) Mengembangkan modul IPA terpadu berbasis discovery tema es teler; (2) Mengetahui kelayakan modul Pembelajaran IPA terpadu discovery pada tema es teler kelas VII; (3) Mengetahui efektivitas dari modul pembelajaran IPA terpadu berbasis discovery pada tema es teler terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Sumberlawang.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang mengacu pada model Thiagarajan. Penilaian modul dilaksanakan 6 tahap yaitu validasi ahli materi dan kegrafikan, validasi guru, validasi sejawat, uji coba kecil dilaksanakan pada 8 siswa, uji coba diperluas dilaksanakan 31 siswa SMP N 3 Satu Atap Sumberlawang dan penyebaran modul pada guru IPA SMP. Data hasil penelitian berupa nilai validasi modul oleh ahli, guru dan sejawat, respon keterbacaan siswa, nilai tes prestasi, respon siswa, dan respon guru.Berdasarkan hasil analisis data disimpulkan: (1) prosedur pengembangan modul IPA berbasis discovery menggunakan model 4-D dari Thiagarajan mencakup define, design, develop dan disseminate; dengan modifikasi pada tahap disseminate dilakukan dengan cara sosialisasi modul kepada guru; (2) modul IPA terpadu SMP berbasis discoverypada tema es teler yang dikembangkan memiliki kelayakan dengan kategori sangat baik yang mencakup aspek isi, bahasa, penyajian, kegrafikan dan kesesuaian dengan discovery. Hasil validasi yaitu validasi ahli rata-rata 3,43, validasi guru rata-rata 3,52, validasi teman sejawat rata-rata 3,48, uji coba skala kecil rata-rata 3,50, uji coba besar rata-rata 3,60, respon guru SMP rata-rata 3,58; (3) modul produk pengembangan efektif untuk menaikkan rerata hasil belajar dari skor rata-rata pretest 50,66 menjadi postest 71,90 serta ketuntasan belajar siswa mencapai 77%. Abstract

A research on mangrove forest at coast Cengkrong in the village of Karanggandu aimed at defining zoning and composition of magrove vegetation. The sampling method consists of 3 zoning. Each zone established 3 plots, consists of 10 m x10 m plot size of trees category, 5 m x 5 m of stake category, and 1 m x 1 m of seedling category to repeat in 3 times. Data analysis of mangrove vegetation employed Improtance Value Indeks (IVI). The research results found 12 mangrove species namely Avicennia alba, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera parviflora, Ceriops decandra, Ceriops tagal, Lumnitczera racemosa, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum Nypa fruticans. Reffering to the the mangrove zonation indicates the zone I or open zone grows Sonneratia alba and it can be found Rhizophora mucronata, Ceriops decandra with salinity of 6 ppt. Zone II or middle zone grows species of Avicennia alba and it also be found Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum with salinity of 6 ppt. Zone III or zone that is closer to the landward grows species Xylocarpus granatum and also appears Lumnitzera racemosa,Bruguiera parviflora with salinity of 4 ppt. It showed that the formation of mangrove zonation at Coast Cengkrong is still categorized as less stable, due to rehabilitation since 2002 were done without understanding the type of site suitability and natural factors which causes the fruits drop when the tides of sea water, so that the growth is not stable.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the analysis of science process skills in textbooks of chemistry grade XI in SMA N 1 Teras, Boyolali. This research used the descriptive method. The instruments were developed based on 10 indicators of science process skills (observing, classifying, finding a conclusion, predicting, raising the question, hypothesizing, planning an experiment, manipulating materials, and equipment, Applying, and communicating). We analyzed 3 different chemistry textbooks that often used by teachers in teaching. The material analyzed in the book was solubility and solubility product concept in terms of concept explanation and student activity. The results of this research showed different science process skill criteria in 3 different chemistry textbooks. Book A appeared 50% of all aspects of science process skills, in Book B appeared 80% of all aspects of science process skills, and in Book C there was 40% of all aspects of the science process skills. The most common indicator in all books was observing (33.3%), followed by prediction (19.05%), classifying (11.90%), Applying (11.90% ), planning experiments (9.52%), manipulating materials and equipment (7.14%), finding conclusion (4.76%), communicating (2.38%). Asking the question and hypothesizing did not appear in textbooks.

Abstract

Critical thinking skill is the priority in the goals of education. In this case, the critical thinking has the higher process, such as analyzing, synthesizing, evaluating, drawing conclusion and reflecting which enables the individual to make the reasonable assessment both in the classroom and in the daily life.  This research is aimed to determine the students’ critical thinking skill in learning Chemistry at senior high school. This research used descriptive method in which the instruments were developed based on the indicators of critical thinking skill. The population of this research was 100 students of tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade from senior high schools in Surakarta which was chosen using cluster random sampling technique. The result of the research shows that the students of tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade have adequate critical thinking skills.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Limbah plastik memiliki permasalahan lingkungan yang cukup serius. Polipropilen (PP) merupakan salah satu limbah plastik yang jumlahnya cukup banyak di lingkungan kita. Daur ulang limbah plastik polipropilen menjadi bioplastik ramah lingkungan merupakan salah satu solusi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengurangi permasalahan lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan kitosan terhadap biodegradasi plastik berbahan dasar polipropilen. Dalam penelitian ini, limbah polipropilen digunakan sebagai matriks dengan kitosan sebagai filler dan dikumil peroksida (DCP) sebagai crosslink agent. Kitosan dengan berbagai komposisi sebesar 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 dan 5 + 1% DCP fraksi massa ditambahkan ke dalam polipropilen. Pembuatan plastik dilakukan  dengan metode blending. Bioplastik yang diperoleh selanjutnya dikarakterisasi gugus fungsi dan sifat biodegradasinya berturut-turut dengan FTIR dan perendaman dalam mikroba campuran (mixed microbial batch) dengan EM4. Pada uji biodegradasi didapat plastik yang paling degradabel adalah plastik dengan komposisi PP: Kitosan (% w/w) 80/20. Selanjutnya urutan biodegradabilitas berturut-turut adalah dengan perbandingan 85/15; 90/10; 95/ 5;  90/10 + 1% DCP; 100/0.   Kata kunci: Polipropilen, Kitosan, Dikumil Peroksida, Biodegradasi

Abstract

Penelitian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan modul fisika suhu dan kalor berbasis project based learning dan mengetahui efektivitas modul fisika suhu dan kalor berbasis project based learning. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development). Merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan mengembangkan suatu produk berupa modul pembelajaran fisika pada materi suhu dan kalor berbasis project based learning. Langkah pengembangan menggunakan model ADDIE. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul fisika divalidasi oleh validator ahli dan peer reviewer. Berdasarkan hasil validasi oleh validator materi memberikan nilai 2,9 dengan kategori baik, validator media 3,6 berkategori sangat baik, validator pembelajaran 3,0 berkategori baik dan validator bahasa 3,8 berkategori sangat baik.  Dan hasil validasi peer reviewer memberikan nilai 2,9 dengan kategori baik. Hasil uji pakai user yaitu siswa kelas X MIA MA Al Islam Surakarta memberikan nilai 3,6 dengan kategori sangat baik.  Sehingga menunjukkan bahwa modul fisika berbasis project based learning pada materi suhu dan kalor layak digunakan dan modul fisika dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa secara efektif. Untuk penilaian aspek kognitif terbukti dari n-gain nilai hasil evaluasi yang telah dilakukan oleh siswa. Keterampilan proses sains indikator observasi mempunyai gain 0,5 dengan kategori sedang, interpretasi 0,4 berkategori rendah, merencanakan eksperimen 0,7 berkategori tinggi, prediksi 0,5 berkategori sedang, aplikasi 0,5 berkategori sedang, evaluasi 0,8 berkategori tinggi. Kemampuan berpikir kritis indikator mensintesis mempunyai gain 0,5 berkategori sedang, menganalisis 0,9 berkategori sangat tinggi, mengenal masalah 0,6 berkategori sedang, memecahkan masalah 0,6 berkategori sedang, menyimpulkan 0,5 berkategori sedang, mengevaluasi 0,8 berkategori tinggi. Untuk penilaian aspek keterampilan kelompok 1 dengan nilai 3,33 dengan kategori sangat berhasil, kelompok 2 dengan nilai 3,56 dengan kategori sangat berhasil, kelompok 3 dengan nilai 3,44 dengan kategori sangat berhasil. Untuk penilaian aspek sikap rata-rata keseluruhan siswa berskor 3,2 dengan kategori baik.AbstractResearch carried out aims to determine the feasibility of physics module temperature and heat-based project-based learning and examine the effectiveness of physics module temperature and heat-based project-based learning. This study included research and development (Research and Development). Is a descriptive study to develop a product in the form of physics learning module on material temperature and heat-based project-based learning. Step ADDIE development model. The results showed that the physics module validator validated by experts and peer reviewers. Based on the results of validation by the validator material provides good value to the category 2.9, 3.6 media validator excellent category, validator well categorized and learning 3.0 3.8 language validators very good category. And peer validation results give a value of 2.9 with either category. The test results that the user use the class X MIA MA Al Islam Surakarta give a value of 3.6 with a very good category. Thus indicating that the module is a physics-based project-based learning on the temperature and heat decent material used and the physical modules can enhance science process skills and critical thinking abilities of students effectively. For the assessment of cognitive aspects evident from a then-gain value of the evaluations that have been done by the students. Science process skills of observation indicator have a gain of 0.5 with a category, the interpretation of low category 0.4, 0.7 high category planned experiment, the prediction was 0.5 categories, medium category 0.5 application, evaluation 0.8 high categories. Critical thinking skills to synthesize indicators having moderate gain of 0.5 categories, analyzing the 0.9 categories is very high, recognize the problem category were 0.6, 0.6 category troubleshoot medium category were concluded 0.5, 0.8 evaluating high category, For the assessment of skills aspects of group 1 with a value of 3.33 with a very successful category, group 2 with a value of 3.56 with a very successful category, group 3 with a value of 3.44 with a very successful category. For the assessment aspect of the overall average attitude of students a value of 3.2 with either category.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of critical thinking skills of senior high school students. The paper-based essay questions and the questionnaires were used as the instruments to measure critical thinking skills in daily chemistry problems, which is based on Facione’s critical thinking aspects included interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The research was conducted in one of government senior high school in Central Java, Indonesia. The descriptive-qualitative method was used for the research method. The qualitative approach was used to analyze the data by using essay questions and questionnaires. The criteria for critical thinking skills were categorized as null, low, medium, and high. The result showed that most of the students have weak or low skill in critical thinking, especially in analysis, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation whether their skill of interpretation and inference are medium. This finding can be used to develop a new strategy in teaching chemistry related to critical thinking skill.

Abstract

The success of the learning process is something that needs to be considered in 21st-century learning. One of the successes in teaching and learning uses appropriate learning models. One of the 21st-century learning models is the 5E Learning Cycle integrated with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This learning model encourages student activities in the teaching and learning process, with the encouragement of student activities, students' science process skills will grow. Science process skill is one of skill that student must have in 21st-century learning. One effort to encourage students' process skills is to use a virtual laboratory. This research aims to develop a 5E Learning Cycle module integrated with STEM and is equipped using a virtual laboratory (www.chemcollective.org) on thermochemistry material. This study's subjects were students of class XI of state high schools in the city of Kediri. This research is a Research and Development (R&D). The data collected through interview, observation, and questionnaires. The results of this study are: students need a teaching material that can drive the student achievement of the teaching and learning process in the 21st century in thermochemistry material; module validity which is declared valid by a severe expert (v = 0.89); The module developed shows effective results seen from the learning outcome on thermochemistry material and the module can foster science process skill

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) dan Team Games Tournament (TGT), kemampuan awal, gaya belajar dan interaksinya terhadap prestasi belajar kognitif dan afektif siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Populasi adalah mahasiswa D-3 dan D-4 jurusan analis kesehatan tahun akademik 2012/2013 Fakultas Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Setia Budi Surakarta. Sampel diperoleh melalui random sampling. Eksperimen dilakukan pada mahasiswa D-3 jurusan Analis Kesehatan menggunakan model STAD, mahasiswa D-4 jurusan Analis Kesehatan menggunakan model TGT, dan campuran kelas D-3 dan D-4 jurusan Analis Kesehatan sebagai kelas uji coba dengan identifikasi dan penyimpanan bahan kimia. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan tes dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskal-Wallis dengan taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa, (1) ada pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan model STAD dan TGT terhadap nilai kognitif (sig.=0,000),tetapi tidak pada nilai afektif (sg.=0,103), (2) ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara kemampuan awal dengan nilai belajar mahasiswa, (3) ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara gaya belajar terhadap nilai belajar kognitif (sig.=0,017), tetapi tidak pada nilai afektif mahasiswa (sig.=0,795), (4) ada interaksi yang signifikan antara penggunaan model STAD dan TGT dengan kemampuan awal terhadap nilai belajar mahasiswa, (5) ada interaksi yang signifikan antara penggunaan model STAD dan TGT dengan kemampuan awal terhadap nilai belajar mahasiswa, (6) ada interaksi yang signifikan antara kemampuan awal dengan gaya belajar terhadap nilai belajar kognitif (sig.=0,000) tetapi tidak pada nilai afektif mahasiswa (0,057), (7) ada interaksi yang signifikan antara penggunaan model STAD dan TGT dengan kemampuan awal dan gaya belajar terhadap nilai belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

Colloidal nanocomposites silver-chitosan have been made. Silver nanoparticles were produced by chemical reduction methods assisted microwave irradiation using chitosan from crab shells as a reducing agent and stabilizer, AgNO3 as a precursor and NaOH as an accelerator. This study investigated AgNO3 concentration toward localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomenon of nanocomposites colloidal. The size and shape of the silver nanoparticles were confirmed by TEM. Furthermore, the stability of the storage was observed for twelve weeks. Colloidal and film nanocomposites silver- chitosan have been made by casting method by drying at room temperature. After that, the film characterization was carried out, including swelling with gravimetry methods and surface morphology using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Diffusion methods tested colloid antibacterial activity and silver-chitosan nanocomposite film’s against E. Coli and S. Aureus. The results showed that the formation of silver nanoparticles was identified by the LSPR absorption band's appearance at 413-419 nm. The increasing of AgNO3 concentration increased the intensity of the LSPR absorption band. Silver nanoparticles with sizes of about 3-9 nm are spherical. The silver nanoparticles were stable at 12 weeks of storage. The higher AgNO3 concentration tends to increase the swelling of the film. The surface of the silver-chitosan nanocomposite film’s was rougher than that of the chitosan film. The higher the silver nanoparticle concentration, the higher the colloid and film antibacterial activity against E. Coli and S. Aureus.
