Abstract

AbstractStreet children and community members of Pedongkelan—Pulogadung—have been showing poor moral, social, and legal awareness in their daily lives. It therefore requires in-depth study and sustainable follow-up measures in a bid to alleviate poverty, empower the street children’s potentials, and tackle all sorts of other related problems, which originate in their poor economic capacity referring to their low sense of achievement, poor skills, and poor knowledge. The underlying issues on this matter lie in how to formulate strategies to address community empowerment in a bid to improve quality life of the street children and other community members where they live in Pedongkelan and how to orchestrate the roles of the academic people and the respective bureaucrats to join forces with their respective constituents. This research uses a normative method, with sociological approach, to endorse the proposed PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) implementation. The findings suggest (1) that the most appropriate empowerment programs for the street children and other community members in Pedongkelan are through the implementation of science and technology programs, the implementation of character building programs, the implementation of potential economic building programs on the religious basis, the implementation of economic stability programs, and the promotion of legal awareness programs. In doing so, it is important to make opportunities available, conduct serious and sustainable sectorial programs, design specific programs to curb the number of street children, poor people, and thugs or criminals, implement integrated and gradual programs, have psychosocial approach for target groups, and improve the target group’s productive skills and their skills in giving added value to their products. All of these should be supported by (2) the government’s role, academic people, and related institutions. Above all, coordination among and participation of these related parties are of the utmost importance.Keywords : street children’s potency, quality life, legal awarenessAbstrakTingkat kesadaran moral sosial dan kesadaran hukum sama sekali tidak terwujud dalam kehidupan keseharian anak jalanan dan warga masyarakat Pedongkelan. Diperlukan kajian yang sangat mendalam dan tindakan yang berkesinambungan dalam rangka mengentaskan kemiskinan, memberdayakan potensi anak jalanan dan segudang permasalahan yang melingkupi kehidupan mereka, yang sebenarnya berpangkal tolak dari ketidakmampuan secara ekonomi dan kekerdilan mental, moral, skill serta ilmu pengetahuan yang mereka miliki. Permasalahan serius pada masyarakat Pedongkelan berkenaan dengan anak-anak jalanan dan lingkungan masyarakatnya adalah bagaimana pemberdayaan masyarakat yang tepat bagi penanganan anak-anak jalanan dan lingkungan masyarakatnya tersebut dan Bagaimana peran akademisi dan birokrat dapat terkait dan menyatu dengan partisipasi masyarakat. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian normatif, dengan pendekatan sosiologis, untuk mendukung usulan penerapan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan: (1) Program pemberdayaan yang tepat bagi anak jalanan dan warga Pedongkelan Pulogadung secara garis besar melalui penerapan program ipteks dan character building, penerapan program sinergi religi dan pengenalan potensi ekonomi, penerapan program pemantapan ekonomi dan sadar hukum. Upaya yang perlu dilakukan adalah memberi perhatian dengan membuka peluang, Melakukan program Sektoral secara serius dan berkesinambungan, Program pembangunan yang benar-benar dapat mengurangi jumlah anak jalanan dan penduduk miskin, upaya penanggulangan premanisme dan kejahatan, Pelaksanaan program secara terpadu dan bertahap, pendekatan psikososial dengan kelompok sasaran, upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berproduksi dan menciptakan nilai tambah, didukung (2) Peran Pemerintah, Akademisi dan lembaga terkait sangat penting yakni pelaksanaan koordinasi dan partisipasi aktif semua pihak, antar lembaga dan masyarakat.Kata kunci: potensi anak jalanan, mutu kehidupan, kesadaran hukum

Abstract

This article based on  research is to analyze the needs for community empowerment through sustainable participation approach concerning the protection of traditional knowledge and folklore. This folklore  essentially meets the requirements to be copyrighted;  the fact that it is a communal heritage property which has been passed on for generations and the creator is therefore not identified, cannot fulfill the requirement of originality and individuality.  The traditional knowledge that based on technology, yet it is not patentable invention, the fact that is not fulfill patentable requirement especially the novelty. Thus, traditional knowledge and folklore must be protected as 'sui generis' legal protection. Community empowerment program and community  legal awareness program should be done continually as well as progressing 'promote and protect' culture. The findings of this research suggest that indigenous people makers  need such supports as trainings, government's endorsement and incentives, capital provision schemes, as well as marketing and legal assistance. The findings also recommend that partnership between the traditional knowledge or folklore makers/indigenous people and the government be intensified to promote the product, not only locally, and nationally, but also internationally. This should involve the NGO, campus, the government, and related consultants to jointly protect this product and to help promote it in bigger scope.Keywords: community participation, promote and protect, traditional knowledge, folklore

Abstract

Cyclodontostomum purvisi  (Adam, 1933) is a nematode infects small mammals belongs to family Muridae  (Rattus spp and Maxomys spp)  in  Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Java. There are some morphological variation on those nematode such as the number of corona radiata elements and head orientation (the angle between cephalic collar and sagital body axis). The angle is stronger in the specimens from Kalimantan and decreasing in the specimens in Sulawesi and Java. R. exulans  from Kalimantan and R. tanezumi from Sulawesi are the new host record for  C. purvisi in Indonesia.

Abstract

Tugas kader jumantik selain sebagai pemantau jentik juga diharapkan sebagai edukatormasyarakat. Masyarakat yang teredukasi diharapkan terlibat aktif sebagai jumantik mandiri di rumahnya masing-masing. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan peran kader jumantik sebagai edukator warga di Kelurahan Serdang melalui pelatihan teknik komunikasi. Sasaran kegiatan berjumlah 20 orang kader jumantik yang merupakan perwakilan dari setiap RW di Kelurahan Serdang. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada 12 Februari 2019 di kampus Universitas YARSI. Media pelatihan yang digunakan adalah power pointpresentation (ppt), video, dan alat peraga. Pelatihan dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah, role play, diskusi, dan praktik. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan peserta meningkat, yaitu 75% (sebelum pelatihan) menjadi 90% (setelah pelatihan). Hasil analisis bivariate menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan pada tingkat pengetahuan kader jumantik tentang teknik komunikasi pre dan post pelatihan (p = 0,541). Dalam pelatihan teknik komunikasi bagi kader jumantik perlu digunakan metode lain agar berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan peran kader. Selain itu, juga perlu dilakukan kegiatan pelatihan teknik komunikasi untuk semua kader jumantik serta pelatihan lanjutan bagi kader jumantik yang telah mengikuti pelatihan sebelumnya. Pelatihan pelatihan tersebut bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi kader jumantik dengan metode praktik langsung, yaitu sebagai edukator masyarakat di wilayah tugas masing-masing

Abstract

AbstrakKebijakan, supervisi dan motivasi adalah sebagian dari faktor yang mempengaruhi kepuasan kerja perawat. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional untuk mengetahui hubungan kebijakan, supervisi, dan motivasi dengan kepuasan kerja perawat pelaksana di salah satu rumah sakit di Jawa Timur. Penentuan sampel yaitu total populasi sejumlah 146 perawat. Berdasarkan hasil uji univariat didapatkan sebagian besar perawat mempunyai persepsi tidak baik tentang kebijakan, supervisi, dan mempunyai persepsi baik tentang motivasi, dan puas dalam pekerjaannya. Hasil regresi logistik didapatkan motivasi merupakan variabel yang paling berhubungan dengan kepuasan kerja perawat (OR 11,688; p= 0,000). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa perawat yang mendapat motivasi akan puas 12 kali dibandingkan perawat yang tidak mendapatkan motivasi oleh manajer keperawatan, sedangkan kebijakan merupakan variabel kedua yang berhungan dengan kepuasan kerja (OR 2,436;p=0,017). Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi dan kebijakan merupakan variabel yang dapat menjelaskan kepuasan kerja. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian disarankan untuk melakukan evaluasi terhadap kebijakan yang telah ditetapkan secara periodik dan ada sosialisasi apabila ada kebijakan baru. AbstractRegulation, supervision system, and motivation are several factors which affected nurse’s satisfaction. This study used cross sectional design to identify the relationship between regulation, supervision system, and motivation with the work satisfaction of the associate nurse at one of the hospitals in East Java. The sample taken was the total population of was 146 nurses. Based on univariate analysis, it was known that most of the nurses had positive perception toward the regulation, supervision system, and motivation; more over they were also satisfied with their work. The regression logistic result showed that motivation was the most related variable with the work satisfaction of the nurses (OR 11.688; p= 0.000). This condition showed that the nurse who got motivation to work would gain 12 times of satisfaction level compared with the nurse who was not motivated by the nurse manager. Meanwhile, regulation was the second highlyrelated variable with the work satisfaction (OR 2.436; p= 0.017). The researcher concluded that motivation and regulation were the variables which could explain the work satisfaction. Based on this research, it was recommended to conduct the evaluation toward the current regulation periodically and socialize for the new regulation.

Abstract

AbstractThe research is aimed to analyze learning motivation in Physics through learning video during the pandemic of Covid-19. The subject of this research is vocational high school student at class X in Pasuruan, East Java. The instrument is a motivation questionnaire that contains 4 aspects which are attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and classified into categories. The result showed that the value of significance is sig. 0,002 <0,05 which means, there is a different learning motivation before and after using learning video during the pandemic. The result was obtained by enhancement of average motivation score though satisfaction aspect was dropped. Abstract

Cancer cells have a relatively high telomerase activity compared to normal cells, so the cancer cells have the ability to continue to proliferate and undergo mitosis uncontrolled. Telomerase is an enzyme which responsible for telomere length, a DNA segment that is at the end of eukaryotic cell chromosomes. Telomeres and telomerase play a role in the incidence of carcinogenesis. Natural materials such as taro mice (Typhonium flagelliforme) have potential as anticancer. The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of plant extracts of rat taro on the expression of telomerase in cancer cell Raji. The research method is experimental studies in some form cancerous cell culture cell line, Raji. Used as a control normal cells is Vero cell. The Culture medium used RPMI for Raji cell  and M199 for Vero cell. The study consisted of three groups, control, doses of 1 ½ IC50 and IC50 doses. Expression of telomerase enzyme was measured by the Immunohystochemistry method (IHC). The results showed that the expression of telomerase in cancer cells showed values significantly higher than the normal cells (Vero). Giving mice taro plant extracts (Typhonium flagelliforme) were able to decrease the expression of telomerase significantly in both treatment doses. It was concluded that rodent tuber extract (Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd) can reduce the expression of telomerase in Raji cells, so that the rodent tuber extract (Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd) has potential as an anticancer through the expression of telomerase.Keywords: telomerase, IHC, Typhonium flagelliforme

Abstract

BACKGROUNDCancer is one of the causes of high mortality. Breast and cervical cancers are two of the most frequent cancers affecting women around the world, including Indonesia. Natural materials such as rodent tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme) have anticancer potentials. The rodent tuber extract contains ribosome inactivating proteins (RIPs) capable of cutting the DNA or RNA of cancer cells and blocking the growth of cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxic effects of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd extract on HeLa cervical cancer and Michigan Cancer Foundation-7 (MCF-7) breast cancer cells.METHODSSubjects were cultured cell lines of HeLa cells in Rosswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI) and of MCF-7 cells in Dulbecco’s Minimum Essential Medium (DMEM). Rodent tuber ethanolic extract was diluted in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The cytotoxicity assay used the 3-(4,5-dimethyl thiazol-2-yl,5-diphenyl) tetrazolium bromide (MTT) method. Absorbance was read in an ELISA reader at a wavelength of 595 nm.RESULTSRat tuber extract at all dilutions (500; 250; 125; 62.5; 31.25; 15.625;7.81; 3.9 ì g/ mL) showed cytotoxic effects against HeLa and MCF-7 cells. Higherconcentrations of the extract gave a higher proliferation inhibition effect.Calculated IC50 values of the extract by probit analysis were 30.19 ìg/mL against HeLa cells and 5.586 ì g/mL against MCF-7 cells.CONCLUSIONSEthanolic extract of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd has cytotoxic effects against HeLa cells and MCF-7 cells. The cytotoxic effects against MCF-7 cells are greater than the cytotoxic effects against HeLa cells.
