Abstract

The independent curriculum demands learning outcomes that emphasize problem solving and science process skills. Guided inquiry learning is the right choice to use as a learning model where teachers and students both play a role. The literature review carried out aims to examine how innovation can be carried out in the implementation of inquiry learning in Indonesia on biological material. The method used in this research is rapid literature review (RLR). The results of the study gave rise to several innovations in almost every inquiry syntax. Technological innovations that can be implemented include: the use of practical formulas in presenting problems; the use of the Padlet application in the step of asking questions; the use of microscopes, Chat GBT, and cameras in answering questions; the use of the Padlet application in collecting the results of scientific investigations; and the use of social media in communicating the results of investigations. It is hoped that the innovation obtained can give rise to students 'ways to know’, which will be answered through investigation. Inquiry will invite students to be able to build and explore knowledge as scientists do.

Abstract

Creativity is a key component in the last century skills and has been highlighted in curricular research globally especially in Indonesia. This research therefore aimed at analyzing and identifying perspectives of creativity by pre-service teachers when a likely solution step was generated in the DBL. Three separate design based learning activities were undertaken by 13 female and 11 male pre-service teachers. Two separate methods have been used for analysis of data gathered from pre-service teachers’ writings and drawings, half-structured interviews, and field notes. In quantitative study of pre-service teachers' works and in exploring the notions of creativity, fluency, flexibility, and originality. In this study descriptive analysis was used. In semi-structured interviews and field notes the findings of the descriptive analysis included quality analyses. Description analysis showed the highest showed in creativity and flexibility, but the lowest was originality. The findings of content analysis further showed a variety of factors influencing the uniqueness of pre-service teachers ideas including exposure of people to ideas, knowledge of design based learning and the prototyping of pre-service teachers' ideas. The study results might enhance the usage of DBL to help educators and researchers understand the strengths and limits of their pupils through the creativity and STEM education.

Abstract

Integrating local science into science learning benefits students and the culture. However, science teaching tends to focus only on the scientific content presented in the books but ignores the local culture. This paper explores local science in community cultural activities to be implemented in science learning to introduce students to cultural values following the concept of science. It identifies local science, describes the oral arguments produced by the tribal council, and analyzes the lesson plan by five science teachers in the Nagekeo district, East Nusa Tenggara. The data used in this analysis are observation and identification, interviews, and assessment sheets. The findings show that the local science in Nagekeo cultural activities that can be integrated into science learning includes the traditional unit and measurement systems, Newton's laws in their application to the traditional game, biodiversity in the traditional hunt, the concept of heat transfer, and its application in the construction of traditional houses, and vibrations, waves, and sounds in the traditional musical instrument. Recommendations from this research are embracing local science in science learning to provide meaningful learning for students and preserve local culture for each generation in the future so that it does not become extinct.

Abstract

TPACK is a complete combination of knowledge and skills in the field of material and teaching strategies that are adapted to technological developments. The purpose of this article is to analyze the breadth and depth of molecular biotechnology material in CoRe to find out important concepts that need to be taught to students to summarize modern biotechnology learning with molecular biotechnology sub-material and present TPACK, which has been analyzed and reconstructed. This research method uses a qualitative approach and a literature study. Biotechnology material is difficult to understand and is abstract, especially molecular biotechnology material. Meanwhile, teachers are still not using appropriate learning strategies in the field. So, teachers must have skills in designing effective learning to achieve learning goals. By analyzing which the teacher will provide essential content through Content Representation (CoRes) and then combining it with selecting appropriate learning strategies based on TPACK (Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge), it can help students understand biotechnology material that they find difficult and can be referenced for teachers to select appropriate learning models, media, and learning approach.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the FILA chart design with the aid of MindMaple on the metacognitive skills of class XI high school students on the excretory system material. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang. The research method used is Quasi Experimental Design with the research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Determination of the research sample using the Simple Random Sampling technique so that class XI IPA 6 was selected as the control class, XI IPA 7 as the experimental class, and XI IPA 8 as the placebo class with a total of 36 students in each class. Metacognitive skills are measured through a pre-test and a post-test with the instrument 3 essay questions with cognitive levels C4 to C6 which has been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25 program, hypothesis testing using ANCOVA test. The results of the ANCOVA test analysis showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with the FILA chart design assisted by Mind Maple had a significant effect on the metacognitive skills of students at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang. Next The average results of the metacognitive skills final test scores sequentially show that the application of the PBL model with the FILA chart design with the aid of MindMaple is better than the application of the conventional learning model with the FILA chart design with the aid of MindMaple and conventional classes in improving students' metacognitive skills

Abstract

Sustainability literacy is an important urgency today, this is related to the knowledge and understanding of individuals in making decisions and taking further action on sustainability as an effort to prepare for life in the future. This study aims to analyze the level of initial sustainability literacy of high school students on environmental pollution material integrated with SDGs point 6 regarding the availability of clean water and sustainable sanitation. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with instruments in the form of sustainability literacy essay questions that refer to three main aspects of sustainability literacy, namely knowledge, skills, and mindset. The study was conducted at a high school in Garut Regency in May 2025 with a sample of 70 grade X students selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that most students (60%) were in the very low category in sustainability literacy, especially in the knowledge aspect. This indicates the need for more transformative and contextual learning interventions to increase students' understanding and concern for sustainability issues. This study recommends the integration of the SDGs concept explicitly in the biology learning process in schools.
