Abstract

Digital literacy is an important competency in supporting the success of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). This study aims to describe the role of digital literacy in the implementation of P5 at SD Negeri Gurawan. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that digital literacy plays a role in improving critical and creative thinking skills, supporting collaboration, instilling digital ethics, encouraging learning independence, and strengthening understanding of local and global cultures. In addition, the use of digital media facilitates students in expressing ideas and works, which has an impact on strengthening the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. These findings indicate that digital literacy not only improves the quality of learning, but also shapes student character according to Pancasila values.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores oral interpersonal communication within Indonesian language learning in the digital era at the elementary level, specifically aiming to examine the nature of active interaction between teachers and students and to describe how students’ argumentative abilities develop during Indonesian lessons. Methodology: Employing a qualitative ethnographic design, the research was conducted at Integrated Islamic Primary School Muhammadiyah Al‑Kautsar. Participants included the principal, the Indonesian language teacher, and grade V students. Data were collected through in‑depth interviews with educators and administrators, participatory classroom and social‑environment observations, and analysis of relevant documents. To ensure validity, multiple data sources were triangulated, and reliability was maintained by applying consistent procedural steps. Data analysis followed an inductive approach, identifying emergent patterns and insights into interpersonal communication practices. Results: Findings indicate that teachers’ oral interpersonal communication skills are pivotal in fostering students’ critical thinking and social competencies. Active, bidirectional interactions—both during classroom instruction and in students’ broader social contexts— were observed to be well integrated into Indonesian language lessons. Moreover, activities designed to engage students in argumentative discourse significantly bolstered their confidence and communicative abilities, leading to more effective learning outcomes. Applications/Originality/Value: By highlighting the foundational role of oral interpersonal communication in developing critical thinking and argumentation skills, this study offers practical strategies for optimizing teacher‑student and peer interactions in digitally enriched learning environments. Its insights can guide curriculum designers and educators in elementary settings to leverage ethnographic methods and targeted communicative activities, thereby enhancing student engagement and language proficiency in the digital era.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the critical role of tajwīd in elementary‐school tahfīz learning, aiming first to describe how lengthening and shortening (mad) are applied during murājaʿah in accordance with tajwīd rules, and second to outline the instructional process for teaching the phonetic properties of letters (such as tafkhīm and tarqīq) within the same framework. Methodology: Employing a qualitative ethnographic design, the research was conducted at the Integrated Islamic Elementary School Muhammadiyah Al‑Kautsar in Gumpang, Kartasura. Participants included the school principal, the tahfīz coordinator, the tahfīz teacher, and fifth‑grade students. Data were gathered through in‑depth interviews, participatory classroom observations of murājaʿah sessions, and analysis of relevant documents. To ensure rigor, both source triangulation (multiple informants) and method triangulation (interviews, observations, documentation) were applied. Data analysis followed an inductive approach, allowing themes to emerge organically from the field evidence. Results: Findings indicate that precise application of mad significantly enhances the quality of students’ recitation and safeguards the intended meanings of Qur’anic verses by preventing pronunciation errors. Additionally, systematic instruction in letter properties— distinguishing between tafkhīm (heavy articulation) and tarqīq (light articulation)—was shown to improve students’ pronunciation accuracy, reinforcing their mastery of tajwīd principles during both individual and group practice. Applications/Originality/Value: By providing an ethnographically grounded account of tajwīd pedagogy at the elementary level, this study offers practical insights for curriculum developers and tahfīz instructors seeking to strengthen foundational recitation skills. Its detailed description of mad implementation and sifat‐huruf instruction can inform teacher training programs and serve as a model for other primary‐school tahfīz programs aiming to preserve both the linguistic and spiritual integrity of Qur’anic recitation.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines strategies for habituating punctuality discipline among slow‑learner students in Indonesian language classes at State Elementary School 4 Pilangpayung. By focusing on how timely‑discipline practices can support learners who progress more slowly, the research aims to identify effective teacher‑led interventions that enhance these students’ engagement and mastery of Bahasa Indonesia under the Merdeka Curriculum. Methodology: Adopting a qualitative case‑study design, the investigation employed in‑depth interviews with teachers, observations of classroom routines, and analysis of school documentation. Researchers immersed themselves in the daily learning environment to capture detailed descriptions of slow‑learner characteristics, the implementation of punctuality‑habituation tactics, and the broader instructional processes at work. Results: Findings reveal that teachers successfully embed punctuality discipline by integrating Merdeka‑aligned lessons with consistent time‑management cues, employing individualized learning approaches, and engaging parents as partners in reinforcing routines at home. Key enablers include active principal supervision of discipline activities, students’ own growing awareness of timeliness, and teachers’ hands‑on involvement. Conversely, limited student self‑awareness and unsupportive home or community environments were identified as barriers to consistent punctuality. Applications/Originality/Value: By mapping these strategies and contextual factors, the study offers practical guidance for educators seeking to strengthen time‑discipline habits among slower learners. Its insights emphasize the importance of combining curriculum‑aligned classroom practices, personalized support, and family collaboration. Education leaders can use these findings to design targeted training programs and parent‑engagement initiatives that foster punctuality, thereby improving learning outcomes for all students

Abstract

Purpose: Geometry ability plays a crucial role in contextual learning, especially for elementary school students who are required to solve complex problems. This study aims to: (1) describe the geometry ability of plane and space figures in the context of elementary school learning, and (2) explore how these abilities are manifested in contextual learning settings. Methodology: This research employed a qualitative ethnographic design. The subjects consisted of the school principal, a mathematics teacher, and 17 fifth-grade students at Muhammadiyah Alam Surya Mentari Elementary School. Data collection techniques included interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of students’ test results. To ensure data validity, source and method triangulation were applied. The data analysis followed the flow model involving data collection, reduction, presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing. Results: The study revealed variations in geometry ability among students based on their performance categories. Students in the high category fulfilled all four indicators (M1, M2, M3, and M4). Those in the medium category met three indicators (M1, M2, and M3), while students in the low category only met one indicator (M2). Applications/Originality/Value: The findings highlight the importance of differentiated instruction in teaching geometry through contextual learning. Teachers should consider students’ varying levels of ability when selecting or designing instructional strategies to enhance geometry understanding effectively.
