Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Interactive Lecture Demonstration (ILD) learning based on Vascak media on the learning outcomes of Physics Science at MTs Darusshalihin Berru, Soppeng Regency which was reviewed from the attitude of 47 grade IX students. This type of research is a True Experiment research using two classes as samples, both of which are taught by the Interactive Lecture Demonstration (ILD) learning method of Static Electricity material with different treatments, consisting of a control class using Powerpoint media (conventional) and an experimental class using Vascak media. The instrument used is a learning outcome test containing multiple-choice questions that have been tested for validity and reliability to measure students' Physics Science learning outcomes and an instrument in the form of a student attitude questionnaire with positive attitude and negative attitude categories using cognitive, affective and conactive attitude indicators. Data analysis was carried out by SPSS statistical test using ANOVA which was obtained for the effect of the use of Vascak media on learning outcomes showing a value of F = 20.623 with a value of Sig = 0.000 which was interpreted to have a significant impact. Similarly, the results of attitude testing had a significant effect on learning outcomes as seen from the value of F = 27.112 with Sig = 0.000. However, the two variables did not interact because the significance value obtained was 0.064 > 0.05. This indicates that the Interactive Lecture Demonstration (ILD) learning method based on Vascak media and the attitude of students have a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Science Physics independently because there is no attraction between the two variables.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the educational game Stairs & Cigarettes in guidance and counseling services on the formation of anti-smoking attitudes in high school students. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (pretest–posttest with control group). The research subjects had a sample of 32 students consisting of two groups, namely 16 students in the experimental group based on educational games and 16 students in the control group who received guidance and counseling services without games. The research instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire compiled based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) indicators and has met the validity and reliability tests. Data analysis was performed using non-parametric tests. The results of the Mann–Whitney U test on the pretest scores showed no significant difference between the two groups (U = 108.50, Z = −0.740, p = 0.460. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in anti-smoking attitudes in both groups (p < 0.001). However, the results of the Mann–Whitney U test on the posttest scores showed a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (p < 0.001). The experimental group obtained an average N-Gain value of 53.05% (medium–high category), higher than the control group of 26.68% (low–medium category), with an effect size value of r = 0.80 (large category). Thus, it can be concluded that the educational game Stairs & Cigarettes is effective in guidance and counseling services to shape the anti-smoking attitudes of high school students.

Abstract

Purpose – Emotional intelligence is an important aspect of adolescent development that influences how students manage emotions, interact socially, and respond to challenges. However, emotional instability is still observed among secondary school students, indicating the need to examine contextual factors, particularly family support. This study aims to analyze the role of family support as a predictor of students’ emotional intelligence. Methods – This study employed a cross-sectional quantitative survey design. The sample consisted of 551 students from SMAN 1 Gambut and SMKN 1 Gambut selected using non-probability quota sampling. Data was collected using Likert-scale questionnaires measuring family support based on Friedman’s theory and emotional intelligence based on the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and non-linear quadratic polynomial regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 30. Findings – The results showed that family support among students was generally in the high category. The regression model was statistically significant, indicating that family support serves as a meaningful predictor of students’ emotional intelligence. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.116, indicating that family support is associated with 11.6% of the variance in emotional intelligence, which can be interpreted as a small to moderate effect size.Research Implications – These findings suggest that support is one of several factors related to students’ emotional intelligence, although its role appears relatively limited. Practically, schools and parents can collaborate to support students’ emotional development through consistent emotional support, appreciation, and effective communication at home. A limitation of this study is that it was conducted in only two schools using non-probability sampling, which may limit generalizability. Future studies are recommended to involve more diverse samples and examine additional related factors.

Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the essential competencies in physics education because it enables students to analyze phenomena, evaluate evidence, and draw logical conclusions in scientific learning. However, students’ critical thinking skills in physics remain relatively low, partly because instructional practices are still often dominated by single-method and teacher-centered approaches. This study aimed to develop and evaluate a multi-methods discovery-learning strategy to enhance senior high school students’ critical thinking skills in physics. The study employed a research and development approach using the ASSURE instructional design model, followed by a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design. The participants were 64 eleventh-grade students in the physics specialization program at a public senior high school in Majene, Indonesia, divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 32 students in each class. The instruments included expert validation sheets, a learning implementation observation sheet, teacher and student response questionnaires, and a critical thinking skills test. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, Aiken’s V, and an independent samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results showed that the developed strategy met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Expert judgment indicated that the learning materials and instruments were valid, while teacher and student responses confirmed the strategy's practicality. Furthermore, the t-test results revealed a statistically significant difference in critical thinking scores between the experimental and control groups. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic integration of expository, practicum, trial, and simple research methods within a structured discovery learning framework. In conclusion, the multi-methods discovery learning strategy is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. It makes a meaningful contribution to physics education by providing an integrative, student-centered instructional approach.

Abstract

Tourism growth in island regions has reshaped local livelihoods and social relations, raising questions about how communities maintain social balance amid economic change. This study examines how coastal communities in Wakatobi respond to tourism-driven transformation and maintain social equilibrium. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 18 informants, participant observation, and administrative data from 23 households. The analysis applies the AGIL framework to explore how economic, social, and cultural processes interact within the community. The findings show that tourism encourages livelihood diversification but also creates unequal access to opportunities. These pressures are managed through three key mechanisms: a shared orientation toward collective welfare, village deliberation as a form of social regulation, and the preservation of local cultural values as boundaries against market pressures. This study proposes the Island Social Equilibrium in Tourism Expansion (ISETE) model to explain how coastal communities respond to tourism-driven transformation. The findings demonstrate that social equilibrium is not a stable condition, but a continuously negotiated process shaped by tensions between economic change and social norms. The model offers a novel perspective by explaining how local communities actively sustain social stability rather than passively experiencing tourism impacts. These findings contribute to the understanding of social sustainability in tourism by highlighting the role of internal social system dynamics in maintaining community resilience.

Abstract

The Tanjung Baru - Nan Sarunai four-way intersection, a strategic non-signalized junction connecting the national roads of South, Central, and East Kalimantan, experiences significant traffic congestion due to heavy vehicle flows, particularly mining employee fleets. This study employs the 2023 Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023) and Excel-based calculations using geometric intersection data, traffic volume, noise levels, and population data from Tabalong Regency.            The peak traffic hour was identified between 3:10 PM and 4:10 PM WITA, with existing conditions showing Dj = 0.30, T = 8.48, and Pa = 9.10%. A 21-year traffic forecast indicates increased congestion (Dj = 0.86, T = 14.70, Pa = 43.99%). Proposed alternatives, including lane widening and signalization, yielded a service level index of C (Dj = 0.82, T = 20.06, TLL = 37.4). Peak noise levels reached 100.9 dB at the intersection and 92.8 dB in the surrounding area, with strong correlation values observed (R = 0.76 for the intersection; R = 0.56 for the area). Keywords: Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023), Forecasting, APILL Intersection, Level of Service Index, Capacity, Degree of Saturation, Delay Time, Queue Probability, Noise Level, and Correlation.

Abstract

Traffic flow density is very frequent on Jalan A. Yani, precisely during breakfast hours. The activity of several restaurants and the large number of buyers caused the parking load to be fully provided even to the point of using the shoulder of the road. So that this activity can affect the performance of the Jalan A Yani section in front of the Dea 2 stall and after the Dea 2 stall. This study aims to analyze traffic volume, speed, and density, as well as evaluate traffic performance on Jalan A Yani in front of Warung Dea 2 and after Warung Dea 2 and obtain the value of the service level index (ITP) and the influence of Warung Dea 2 on traffic performance on Jalan A Yani. The Greenshield model is one of the traffic flow characteristic relationship models where the linear relationship of speed and density is the relationship that is reviewed in the movement of traffic flow, considering the simplest function of the relationship so that it is easy to apply. Based on the results of the greenshield model research, it was found that the performance of the Jalan Ahmad Yani section of Barabai City in the area in front of Warung Dea 2 (there are side obstacles) has a maximum volume or capacity of 780,093 smp/h, a maximum speed of 38,416 km/h, and a maximum density of 30,962 smp/km and the performance of the Jalan Ahmad Yani section of Barabai City in the area in front of Warung Dea 2 in an area of 200 meters after Warung Dea 2 (no side obstacles) has a volume The maximum or capacity is 752,034 smp/h, the maximum speed is 47,007 km/h, and the maximum density is 18,469 smp/km. Side obstacles on the road body in the Warung Dea 2 area have an effect on increasing road capacity by 3.597%. However, the maximum speed decreased by 22.366% and the maximum density increased by 12.493% due to several side obstacle factors such as the density of pedestrian entry and exit activities, and the shoulder of the road being used as a parking lot in the Warung Dea 2 area which covered part of the lane on the road. Keywords:Density, Obstacles, Road Performance, Speed, and Traffic Peformance
