Abstract

Indonesia’s complex tropical climate, diverse topography, and strong influence from large-scale climate variability such as ENSO and MJO pose persistent challenges for accurate weather prediction. This study reviews recent developments in weather forecasting research in Indonesia, focusing on model approaches, predictor variables, and performance across different climatic regions. The literature shows a clear transition from conventional statistical methods, such as ARIMA and regression models, toward machine learning, deep learning, hybrid, and ensemble frameworks. Deep learning models (e.g., LSTM, Bi-LSTM, and CNN) generally achieve higher accuracy when sufficient quality data are available, while hybrid and ensemble methods improve robustness under heterogeneous climatic and data conditions. Key predictors include rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind variables, atmospheric pressure, satellite-based products, and climate indices such as Niño3.4 and the Dipole Mode Index. Performance is strongly influenced by regional climate characteristics, data availability, and model configuration. Despite these advances, major limitations remain, including uneven observational coverage, challenges in extreme weather prediction, sensitivity to sparse and noisy data, high computational demands, and limited operational deployment. These findings highlight the need for adaptive, computationally efficient forecasting frameworks and stronger integration between data infrastructure and real-time operational systems.

Abstract

Clean fresh water is one of the basic needs that is difficult to obtain by the Suli-suli community, so the local community collects rainwater or buys it to get fresh water. . The dominant service location is close to the coast and Karst mountain so that the local community is increasingly difficult to obtain fresh water. So to help the Suli-suli community obtain fresh water, a groundwater search service was carried out. The service provider conducted measurements using a geoelectric resistivity tool with the Wenner-Schlumberger method approach with a span of 147 m per measurement path. The results obtained that the presence of groundwater was obtained at a depth of 2-15 meters. However, there are several points where there is also brackish water, this is because the service location is close to the coast so that seawater intrusion occurs which forms brackish water, but after a depth of 5 meters down the brackish water is no longer visible. From the results of this service, it is hoped that it will be a reference for the community in finding and making freshwater wells, in order to meet the need for clean water.

Abstract

The integration of cattle production with oil palm plantations is increasingly promoted in Indonesia to enhance rural economies and support community livelihoods. Achieving long-term sustainability of this system requires a clear understanding of the institutional determinants that influence the implementation across social, economic, and ecological dimensions. Therefore, this study aims to examine the institutional determinants by identifying 5 key stakeholder groups in the cattle-oil palm sectors. The location was in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, which was purposively selected for cattle-oil palm integration. Primary data were collected through field observations, structured questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with 15 purposively selected experts and were triangulated using secondary reports. Interpretive structural modeling (ISM) combined with MICMAC analysis was applied to identify, structure, and classify institutional constraints. The results showed a total of 13 institutional constraints, most of which were located in the linkage and dependent quadrants, indicating high interdependence and systemic vulnerability. Major constraints included inadequate coordination, weak leadership, limited institutional capacity, as well as insufficient regulatory and financial support. ISM generated 8 hierarchical constraint levels and 5 strategic program levels, regulation, financing, interagency collaboration, extension services, and waste processing technologies emerging as key drivers of system improvement. These results underscore the need for integrated institutional strengthening to enhance SISKA performance and sustainability. As the first to apply a combined MICMAC-ISM framework to cattle-oil palm integration, this study offers a novel institutional model to facilitate evidence-based policy design and strategic program planning.

Abstract

The decline in the productivity of the national sugarcane commodity has become an issue in the last ten years. When domestic demand for sugar is increasing, the decline in productivity indicates a crisis in sugarcane production. At the same time, the involved institutions and strategic programs to encourage sugarcane production have not been well identified. The research aims to determine the institutions that are expected to play a role and the strategic programs that are prioritized in increasing sugarcane production in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study uses Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) to formulate complexity, hierarchy (levels) and classification among elements. The results showed that of the 14 sub-elements of the acting institutions studied, five institutions were key actors for increasing production, namely banking institutions; universities; agricultural, plantation and fisheries offices; industry, trade, cooperatives, & Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs') offices; and private companies. Then, from the 13 sub-elements of the strategic programs, there are five strategic programs that also serve as the key programs, namely extension/assisting farmers; addition of plantation labor; providing access to capital; variations of profit-sharing and buying systems of sugarcane; and accuracy of time and adequacy of the supply of raw materials to the mills. This means that these institutions must play an important role, as well as strategic programs that must be carried out effectively to address the issue of sugarcane production in the country. Thus, researchers recommend involving all stakeholders in conducting strategic programs with the key actors as the leading driving institutions.

Abstract

Research has been carried out which aims to analyze and gain knowledge about climate change that is happening in Maros Regency using descriptive, spatial and explanatory statistical methods. The data used is daily climatic data for Maros Regency which is processed using Ecxel, RCLIMDEX and ArcGIS 10.4 software which produces data in the form of graphics and spatial images. In addition, global factors are used as supporting data to determine its relationship with the climate of Maros Regency, to see whether climate change is occurring or only being influenced by global factors such as monsoons and El Nino/La Nina. The pattern of rainfall in Maros Regency is monsoonal, there has been no change in climate patterns for 30 years and there has been a decreasing rate of rainfall, but there has been an increase in the amount of rainfall at the peak of the rainy season and a decrease in rainfall at the peak of the dry season every tenth of the year and the extreme index has increased. The air temperature in Maros district is also experiencing an increasing trend, although it is more significant at the minimum temperature.
