Abstract

This study examines the illocutionary acts used by the stalker in the Netflix docuseries ‘Can I Tell You a Secret?’. Illocutionary acts are analyzed to understand the intended meaning of the stalker’s communication strategies. The objectives of the study are to find out the dominant illocutionary acts used by stalker and their intended meaning. This study employs the qualitative descriptive design and uses the subtitle of the series as its data. The data of the study are taken from the subtitle of the Netflix docuseries ‘Can I Tell You a Secret?’, and then are classified into Searle’s illocutionary act types. The study finds that the stalker commonly uses directive illocutionary acts (49,3%) in his dialogues. This phenomenon shows that the stalker uses his communication strategies to manipulate and control the victim. His strategies also instill fear and doubt in his target.  Besides, other types of illocutionary acts are also being employed in stalker’s dialogues. This maintains a continual threat and keeps the victim anxious about what might happen next.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap fungsi tanda bahasa di ruang publik merepresentasi pluralisme agama melalui analisis lanskap linguistik (LL). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-deskriptif dengan observasi langsung, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada tiga Kampung Toleransi di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bahasa dalam tanda-tanda publik, seperti papan informasi, spanduk, nama tempat ibadah, dan graffiti, mencerminkan keberagaman dan harmoni antarumat beragama. Penggunaan bahasa Indonesia tampil dominan di semua kategori tanda Bahasa. Fungsi informatif dan simbolik dari elemen linguistik ini menegaskan peran bahasa Indonesia sebagai medium inklusivitas, sementara transliterasi dan penggunaan bahasa multikultural mengindikasikan keterbukaan terhadap komunitas lokal dan internasional. Dengan mengintegrasikan elemen lokal, nasional, dan global, Kampung Toleransi menjadi model ruang publik yang mempromosikan dialog antaragama dan memperkuat stabilitas sosial. Studi ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan kebijakan ruang publik yang lebih inklusif dalam masyarakat multikultural.

Abstract

This community service aims to analyze the preparation and training of Arabic teachers in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach to present objective and scientific empirical facts. The data sources used in this study include secondary data from references and research objects related to Arabic language education in both countries. The analysis results indicate that in Indonesia, the preparation of Arabic teachers is more flexible with more open regulations and opportunities. Conversely, in Malaysia, the preparation and training of Arabic teachers are more stringent with specific qualifications that must be met. The study also finds that using technology and resources in teacher training in Malaysia is more structured through the ADDIE instructional design model, which is considered effective in enhancing educational quality. The findings emphasize the importance of improving the professionalism of Arabic teachers through structured and continuous training in both countries.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the accuracy of the translation of scholarly terms, namely ulū al-albāb, ulū al-‘ilm, ulū al-nuhā, and ulū al-abṣār in the holy scripture of Alquran and its translation, published by the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition,the factors influencing the accuracy of the translation is analysed. To meet the aim, the data on scholarly terms and their translations were collected using Q-soft ELRA software version 1.0.0. The data were then analysed semantically by comparing both the lexical and contextual meanings in their source and target languages. Based on the analysis and discussion, it is found that the terms ulū al-albāb, ulū al-‘ilm, ulu an-nuhā, and ulū al-abṣār are translated in various ways. Ulū al-albāb and ulū an-nuha are translated quite accurately, ulū al-‘ilm accurately, and ulū al-abṣār rather inaccurately. The levels of accuracy are influenced by the translation techniques that is used, cultural differences, and inaccuracy in understanding the lexical meanings. The four terms describe the semantic relations from the most specific to the most general, namely ulū al-albāb, ulū al-nuhā, ulū al-abṣār, and ulū al-‘ilm respectively.

Abstract

This article examines the concept of human nature fitrah based on the Qur'an as a philosophical foundation for the development of education using descriptive-qualitative approach. Human nature, reflecting the innate inclination toward goodness, faith, and obedience to Allah, serves as a critical basis for creating a holistic education system. In the Qur'an, fitrah is described as an inherent human trait aligned with truth, as mentioned in QS. Ar-Rum: 30. The article highlights the relevance of fitrah-based education in addressing the challenges of the modern era, such as moral decline, materialism, and the erosion of spiritual values. Fitrah-based education emphasizes the balance between spiritual, moral, and intellectual dimensions to shape individuals who are not only intellectually capable but also morally upright. Through this approach, Islamic education is expected to foster a generation of faithful, virtuous individuals who actively serve as Allah’s servants and leaders on earth. This study aims to explore the concept of human nature in the Qur'an and examine its application as a philosophical foundation in developing an education system rooted in Islamic values.

Abstract

Bahasa merupakan sebuah produk budaya yang muncul dan berkembang secara terus menerus. Salah satu faktor yang sangat berpengaruh dari berkembangnya sebuah bahasa adalah karena munculnya generasi baru. generasi baru akan membawa banyak perspektif baru dari berbagai aspek termasuk aspek kebahasaan, misalnya munculnya jargon, register atau istilah-istilah lainnya yang berkenaan dengan bahasa. Generasi yang dianggap paling baru dan paling muda saat ini dilabeli dengan Gen alpha. Generasi yang dianggap gen alpha ini memiliki rentan waktu kelahiran dari tahun 2011 - sekarang (Maulida, 2022. Hal. 40). Gen Alpha saat ini menjadi sorotan di media sosial karena penggunaan bahasanya yang unik dan juga baru, sehingga tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat makna bahasa pada kata-kata yang digunakan oleh gen-alpha. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang bersifat kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan teknik padan yakni memadankan kata yang muncul pada bahasa gen alpha dan dipadankan dengan yang ada. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori semantik dengan menggunakan pendekatan sense relation. Kajian semantik dipilih sebagai teori utama karena penelitian ini akan berfokus pada kata dan makna kata. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kata-kata yang muncul dan digunakan oleh gen alpha di media sosial. Kata-kata tersebut memiliki bentuk dan pemaknaan yang baru. kata-kata seperti sigma, mewing, skibidi, rizz dan aura perlu dikaji  agar ketika kata-kata ini digunakan pemaknaannya akan diketahui dengan jelas, baik secara gramatikal maupun secara leksikal.

Abstract

AbstractInternational students were frequently reported of culture shock issues when entering a new cultural environment. Cultural knowledge was often treated as an addendum which focused on learning facts about the target country. This article demonstrated culture shock that experienced by 7 international students, and also reviewed intercultural communicative language teaching (ICLT) in Indonesian language classrooms practiced by 6 language practitioners from 3 different universities in China. Using findings that emerged from a series of one-to-one interviews, the research explored practitioners’ current perspective of ICLT and how these understandings influenced their practices, including teaching materials, methods, and activities. The researcher discussed the possible causes of the status quo of ICLT in China, and went on to put forward suggestions that ICLT should be promoted in foreign language teaching as a successful mediator of intercultural dimension.AbstrakMahasiswa internasional sering dilaporkan tentang masalah kejutan budaya ketika memasuki lingkungan budaya baru. Pengetahuan budaya sering diperlakukan sebagai tambahan yang berfokus pada mempelajari fakta tentang negara sasaran. Artikel ini menunjukkan kejutan budaya yang dialami oleh 7 siswa internasional, dan juga mengulas pengajaran bahasa komunikatif antarbudaya (ICLT) di ruang kelas bahasa Indonesia yang dipraktikkan oleh 6 praktisi bahasa dari 3 universitas berbeda di Tiongkok. Menggunakan temuan yang muncul dari serangkaian wawancara satu-ke-satu, penelitian mengeksplorasi perspektif praktisi saat ini tentang ICLT dan bagaimana pemahaman ini mempengaruhi praktik mereka, termasuk bahan ajar, metode, dan kegiatan. Peneliti membahas kemungkinan penyebab status quo ICLT di Cina, dan kemudian mengajukan saran bahwa ICLT harus dipromosikan dalam pengajaran bahasa asing sebagai mediator sukses dimensi lintas budaya. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi landasan filosofis dalam penerapan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi bagi anak autis di SLB Negeri Garut Bagian B. Pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dianggap penting untuk menanggapi kebutuhan, minat, dan kemampuan siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus seperti autisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, mengumpulkan data melalui observasi, wawancara dengan guru dan orang tua, serta analisis dokumen terkait kurikulum dan strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan di sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa landasan filosofis pembelajaran berdiferensiasi di SLB Negeri Garut didasarkan pada tiga prinsip utama: konstruktivisme, pragmatisme, dan etika pedagogis yang menghargai keberagaman kognitif dan sosial emosional siswa. Implementasi strategi ini berdampak positif pada peningkatan keterlibatan siswa, penguasaan keterampilan akademik, dan perkembangan kemampuan sosial-emosional mereka. Pembelajaran yang diterapkan berfokus pada penghargaan terhadap keberagaman individu, adaptasi metode pengajaran, serta pengembangan potensi holistik siswa. Penyesuaian kurikulum dan penggunaan pendekatan multisensori menjadi strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan kemampuan siswa autis. Namun, terdapat tantangan dalam penyediaan sumber daya, pelatihan guru, dan dukungan kebijakan yang konsisten Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan kebijakan pendidikan inklusif di Indonesia. Abstract

This study examines the Arabic reading ability of eighth-grade students at MTs Miftahul Khair Hartaco. This research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. The instruments used include observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The evaluation was carried out through pronunciation and sentence tests, and factors that cause problems in learning Arabic were identified.  The results indicate that students’ hijaiyyah letter pronunciation in the vocabulary test was at a moderate level (61.90%), whereas their pronunciation in conversational sentences was significantly weaker (42.25%). Overall, their Arabic pronunciation ability was categorized as deficient, with an average score of 53.56%. The study identifies internal factors such as low student interest and motivation, while external challenges include limited learning resources and a lack of varied teaching methods.  This study concludes that improving Arabic reading skills requires a holistic approach that addresses both internal and external factors. Recommendations include developing innovative teaching strategies, integrating technology in learning, and enhancing instructional materials to foster better engagement and reading proficiency.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the education pattern of the Baduy community.  The research method used is a descriptive qualitative research method and seeks the necessary data by direct observation in the Baduy Tribe and conducting interviews with the traditional leaders of the Baduy Community.  The elements of perennialism found in the education pattern of the Baduy community are basic knowledge that is eternal and universal, upholding cultural heritage, parents and communities having a role in guiding cultural values to the younger generation, character education and experience-based learning in upholding traditional values.  and cultural heritage.
