Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the reason, form and meaning of arabization regent regulation (perbup) in Tasikmalaya and its implications for the national legal system. This departs from the arabization of Tasikmalaya regency that tends to be unilateral and less concerned about Sundanese writing. Using the approach of political linguistics and the theory of Mythology from Roland Barthes, it shows that Perbup arabization in Tasikmalaya district was underlied by history and sociological majority of Santri with Islam ideology since 19th centuries until now. In addition, the emergence of Arabization is legally inspired by the vision and mission of Tasikmalaya Regency itself as it wants to become an Islamic religious district. The implementation of Perbup arabization uses Pegon Arabic-Sundanese with three forms called the name of the Regional Work Unit, the official manuscript and the monument. Connotatively or mythologically, the Arabization shows that the regent of Tasikmalaya seeks to spread the ideology of Islamic Nusantara or Islamic Santri to Tasikmalaya society specifically and Indonesian people in general. While the implication to the national legal system is the incoherence of the legal system components in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to explore language practices in popular scientific articles written by students using a pragmatic hermeneutic approach based on the ideas of Charles S. Peirce, William James, and John Dewey. This study focuses on how language in these writings not only functions as a means of conveying information but also as a social action that shapes consciousness, conveys values, and influences readers. The method used is descriptive qualitative with philosophical discourse analysis techniques applied to five student articles published in popular online media. The results of the study indicate that the language in these articles is reflective, persuasive, and transformative. Students position themselves as social subjects addressing historical, moral, cultural, and economic issues through language that shapes action. Popular scientific articles prove to be a medium for the practice of pragmatic language philosophy, where meaning is formed within a social context and directed toward real change.

The results of the analysis show that 14 out of 19 translation techniques suggested by Al Farisi based on Molina & Albir's theory are used in translating Arabic texts from the subtitles of Sanad Media Account's YouTube videos. The most frequently used translation technique is transposition, with a frequency of 77 (19.74%). It is followed by the calce technique with a frequency of 60 (15.38%) and reduction with a frequency of 56 (14.36%). The amplification and linguistic amplification techniques have almost the same frequency, namely 37 (9.49%) and 34 (8.72%). The mutation technique has a frequency of 31 (7.95%), while modulation has a frequency of 26 (6.67%). Borrowing and matching techniques have lower frequencies, namely 18 (4.62%) and 13 (3.33%). The substitution technique has a frequency of 10 (2.56%). Then, literal, adaptation, and generalization techniques have the same frequency, namely 9 (2.31%) and linguistic compression techniques have the lowest frequency, 1 (0.26%). On the other hand, particularization, description, compensation, variation, and discursive techniques have no frequency because they are not used in the translation. Keywords: Arabic Speech; Translation Analysis; Transposition; YouTube

The results of this research show that from a Muslim perspective, good character is character that is based on religious teachings and always tries to improve itself from time to time. The concept of character in Islam has a close relationship with the moral and ethical values taught by the Islamic religion. Meanwhile, from a western perspective, the concept of character has a broader meaning and is not related to a particular religion. A good character in a western perspective is a character who has strong and positive personality qualities. Even though there are different views, the concept of character still has a very important role in human life to achieve true success and happiness. Therefore, understanding and developing good character needs to be carried out by individuals from these two perspectives, so that they are able to overcome challenges in life in a positive and constructive way.
