Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of repetitive front kick exercises on the balance and agility of Pencak Silat athletes from Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT), Rayon Mantup. The research employed a quantitative experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A sample of 28 athletes was selected using purposive sampling technique. Measurement instruments included the Standing Stork Test for balance and the T-Test TPS for agility. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired t-tests. The results of normality and homogeneity tests indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 for both variables, which is less than 0.05, leading to the acceptance of the research hypothesis. The findings demonstrate that repetitive front kick training significantly improves both balance (t_calc = -9.686) and agility (t_calc = 11.180) of the athletes. This improvement is attributed to the characteristics of fast and repetitive movements that train body control and neuromuscular coordination. The study recommends integrating repetitive kick exercises into PSHT training programs to optimize athlete performance.

Abstract

Biodegradable plastic is a type of plastic made from renewable materials and can be produced using materials containing starch, such as in avocado seeds. However, starch-based biodegradable plastic has the disadvantage of low mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elongation; therefore, it is necessary to add reinforcement, such as cellulose. One potential source of cellulose with a relatively high content is areca nut skin. This study aims to obtain the appropriate concentration of areca nut skin cellulose for the characteristics of biodegradable avocado seed starch plastic. A completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications was used in the experimental procedure of the investigation. The treatments in this study were the addition of cellulose S1 (3 g), S2 (4 g), S3 (5 g), S4 (6 g), and S5 (7 g), and the measured characteristics were water absorption, water vapor transfer rate, tensile strength, elongation, and biodegradability. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the addition of areca nut cellulose significantly affected the water absorption capacity, water vapor transfer rate, tensile strength, elongation, and biodegradability of biodegradable plastics. The selected biodegradable plastic was treatment S1 (3 g), which showed a water absorption capacity of 58.80%, a water vapor transfer rate of 17.03 g/m²/hour, a tensile strength of 30.73 MPa, an elongation of 9.31%, and biodegradability of 44.24%.

Abstract

The expansion of digital spaces and contemporary social dynamics has significantly transformed the religious attitudes and practices of Generation Z in Indonesia. While unrestricted access to religious information broadens knowledge, it also carries the risk of producing fragmented, reactive, and intolerant interpretations of religion. In the context of Indonesia’s multicultural society, this condition highlights the urgent need for religious educational institutions that are capable of instilling the values of religious moderation in a contextual and sustainable manner. Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), as long-established institutions deeply rooted in local religious and cultural traditions, occupy a strategic position in disseminating the values of religious moderation to Generation Z. This study aims to analyze the role of pesantren in disseminating religious moderation values and to examine their impact on shaping the religious attitudes and behaviors of Generation Z. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, this research is based on literature review, observations, and interviews. The findings indicate that pesantren disseminate religious moderation through curriculum integration, exemplary leadership of religious teachers, communal living practices, strengthening religious literacy, and adaptation to digital spaces. These processes not only foster personal piety but also cultivate social piety, tolerance, and national awareness among Generation Z. Therefore, pesantren function not merely as religious educational institutions, but also as cultural and social actors that contribute significantly to maintaining religious harmony and strengthening social cohesion in Indonesia’s pluralistic society.

Abstract

Collagen and gelatin are widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, yet their halal status remains a persistent concern for many products on the market. This study aimed to optimize the extraction and isolation of halal collagen and gelatin from Manyung fish bone waste, an abundant and low-cost Indonesian resource. Collagen was extracted at varying acid concentrations and reaction times, while gelatin was produced under eight treatment conditions varying in acid type, processing temperature, and extraction duration. Collagen and gelatin were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). In addition, the resulting gelatin was qualitatively examined using potassium dichromate and trinitrophenol solutions, which are commonly applied in Indonesia’s pharmaceutical industry. The FTIR spectrum of collagen showed absorption peaks corresponding to amide A, amide I, and amide II, whereas amide B and amide III bands were not detected. The highest collagen yield (4.4%) was obtained using 0.75 M acetic acid with a 5-day reaction time. For gelatin, FTIR confirmed the presence of characteristic amide A, amide B, amide I, amide II, and amide III bands. The optimal gelatin extraction was achieved with treatment 8, which involved immersion in 4% HCl, followed by 4% H₃PO₄, and extraction at 80°C for 6 hours, yielding 3.74%. Overall, these findings demonstrate that Manyung fish bone waste is a promising alternative source of halal collagen and gelatin, with potential applications in both food and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Abstract

This study explores the negotiation between hadith and the tradition of reciting Berzanji in the wedding ceremonies of the Bugis community in Sungai Raya Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency. While Berzanji is commonly performed during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Mawlid), in this community it has become an integral part of wedding rituals. This phenomenon raises questions regarding its compatibility with Islamic teachings, particularly from the perspective of hadith. The research employs a qualitative approach using historical-causal and structural analysis to examine how the community interprets hadith and incorporates it into socio-religious practices. The findings indicate that Berzanji is viewed as a spiritual medium to strengthen love for the Prophet and to promote Islamic values during a sacred life event. Rather than being considered a deviation, it is understood as a contextual religious expression. This reflects a form of social ijtihad, where hadith is interpreted not merely textually but in harmony with local cultural and spiritual values, preserving Bugis identity in the Jambi diaspora.
