Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) artificial aggregate as a substitute for coarse aggregate on the compressive strength and flexural strength, and the volume weight of the concrete. PET plastic waste is recycled by heating to a boiling point of approximately 300°C. There are five variations of concrete mixtures, defined the percentage of PET artificial aggregate to the total coarse aggregate, by 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%. Tests carried out on fresh concrete mixtures are slump, bleeding, and segregation tests. Compressive and flexural strength tests proceeded based on ASTM 39/C39M-99 and ASTM C293-79 standards at the age of 28 days. The results showed that the use of PET artificial aggregate could improve the workability of the concrete mixture. The effect of PET artificial aggregate as a substitute for coarse aggregate on the compressive and flexural strength of concrete is considered very significant. The higher the percentage of PET plastic artificial aggregate, the lower the compressive and flexural strength, and the volume weight, of the concrete. Substitution of 25, 50, 75 and 100% of PET artificial aggregate gave decreases in compressive strength of 30.06, 32.39, 41.73 and 44.06% of the compressive strength of the standard concrete (18.20 MPa), respectively. The reductions in flexural strength were by respectively 19.03, 54.50, 53.95 and 61.00% of the standard concrete's flexural strength (3.59 MPa). The reductions in volume weight of concrete were by respectively 8.45, 17.71, 25.07 and 34.60% of the weight of the standard concrete volume of 2335.4 kg/m3 Doi: 10.28991/cej-2020-03091626 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

The study is aimed to formulate the stategies of West Sumatera’s Tour Operator in facing the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis. The limitation of mobilization in travelling to break the chain of the spreading of COVID-19 Pandemic, has paralyzed the Tour operator business in all regions including in West Sumatera. The strategies are formulated using SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Thread), by minimizing the weakness and thread and maximizing the strength and opportunity. Research data collection is conducted through in depth interview with some tour operator business stakeholders in West Sumatera, using purposive sampling method. Then, the data is analyzed descriptively, by noticing the strength, weakness, opportunity and thread factors of tour operator business in West Sumatera to formulate the strategies in facing the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis. The result reveals that there are several strategies conducted by tour operators in West Sumatera in the stage of short-term strategies, medium term strategies and long-term strategies to sustain the business. Abstract

The development of technology makes human life easier and more aided, but behind that convenience there are challenges and threats to the fabric of society. Entering the information age or the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, there are many new problems that cover all aspects of human life, including national and state issues. The information age is pushing for insistence and struggle over the supremacy of information from one party to another. Perpetrators can be in the form of countries, multi-national companies, or non-state actors. For this reason, the idea of strengthening the nation's character as the glue and identity of a nation must be echoed again. Library research was used by the author in this article. This paper aims to uncover and predict threats, challenges, obstacles and disruptions that can emerge in the information age. The findings show the appreciation of the value of Pancasila also needs to be carried out with programs that are fluid and not too formalistic. It can implement with the help of interesting audiovisual media or through ideas that are close to the younger generation.

Abstract

Background: Quality sleep is needed by breast cancer patients in order to maintain good physical condition and immune system. Nurses have a role as educators who provide health education. Health education that can be given is non-pharmacological therapy, namely music therapy and PMR to improve sleep quality. Health education for patients is felt to be very important considering that patients are not always hospitalized so that it is hoped that with health education, patients can carry out care independently at home. Methods: The way of implementing community service activities is carried out by exposing non-pharmacological therapies with nurses who are in charge of the chemotherapy room. After being given the material, the selected nurse will apply the therapy to the patient in order to improve the quality of sleep for breast cancer patients who are given chemotherapy. Results: The provision of music therapy and PMR had a positive effect on breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Most of the patients involved in this service reported an improvement in the quality of sleep.Discussion: Good quality sleep is needed by breast cancer patients to regenerate and repair body cells. Music therapy combined with PMR is effective in reducing physical arousal activity which results in decreased muscle tone so that sleep quality can be fulfilled.
