Abstract

The implementation of customary (adat) sanction-based strategies to minimise immoral acts illustrates the interaction between customary law, moral values, and social dynamics in local communities. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of such sanctions in curbing immoral behaviour, which includes physical, verbal, and sexual offences outside of marriage, as well as other forms of social deviance. It examines the types of sanctions applied, such as fines, corporal punishment, forced marriage, and ostracism. From the perspective of Islamic law, these sanctions fall under ta'zir, a discretionary punishment used to uphold justice and maintain order. Based on family and social law theory, the study positions customary norms as tools for promoting collective morality and shaping social cohesion. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with religious and traditional leaders, community elders, and young people, as well as through field observations. The findings show that customary sanctions foster awareness, promote moral conduct, and support social harmony by reinforcing shared ethical standards and encouraging communal responsibility. These practices are deeply embedded in cultural identity and often enjoy stronger legitimacy than formal legal mechanisms. Although not part of state law, customary sanctions operate as informal systems of justice and serve as culturally appropriate responses to moral decline. The significance of this study lies in its potential to inform policy and practice through culturally grounded strategies that integrate religious ethics, traditional values, and local wisdom. It also contributes to broader discourses on alternative dispute resolution, grassroots moral governance, and the role of local institutions in addressing youth immorality and sustaining social order.

Abstract

This study analyzes the causes of pending BPJS Kesehatan claims at Melania Bogor Hospital, emphasizing the complex interplay of human resources, document completeness, and operational procedures. The research identifies that a significant factor contributing to pending claims is the limited capacity of the Casemix team, with only one member having received external training in claims coding. Additionally, inaccuracies in medical documentation, such as unclear diagnoses and incomplete supporting documents, hinder the claims process. The absence of a comprehensive hospital information system (SIMRS) for automatic validation further exacerbates the issue. The findings reveal that pending claims not only disrupt the hospital's cash flow but also increase the workload for administrative staff, leading to delays in service provision. This research underscores the need for improved training, enhanced documentation practices, and better integration of digital systems to ensure timely processing of claims and maintain the quality of health services.

Abstract

Contextual problems that include addition and subtraction operations are challenging to solve for mild mental retardation students with intelligence levels between 55 and 70. These characteristics make it difficult for them to control themselves, use symbols and make associations between the knowledge they have acquired with a contextual problem. This study aimed to develop a character-loaded lift the flap book to improve contextual problem-solving skills in basic arithmetic operations. So, this research uses the ADDIE model consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Researchers collected data through interviews and written tests. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed that the character-loaded lift the flap book developed by the researcher was categorized as valid, practical, and effective in improving the problem-solving abilities of mild mental retardation students, especially related to students' skills in associating contextual problems with addition and subtraction arithmetic operations.

Abstract

Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is a type of TB with the most severe clinical symptoms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, with high mortality and neurological morbidity rates. Paradoxical reactions are clinical symptoms characterized by the worsening of existing tuberculosis lesions or the emergence of new lesions despite receiving appropriate antituberculosis therapy (ATT), often leading to diagnostic confusion and management challenges for patients. This study aims to explain the definition, epidemiology, mechanism, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management of PR in TBM, based on various literature reviews. The main findings show that PR is triggered by complex immune mechanisms, often involving an excessive inflammatory response to mycobacterial antigens and known as Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome (IRIS) in HIV patients. PR presents with varying clinical symptoms, including fever, headache, impaired consciousness, as well as hydrocephalus and tuberculoma on radiological examination. Therefore, clear clinical guidelines are needed to optimize the diagnosis and management of PR in TBM. Keywords: Tuberculous meningitis, paradoxical reaction, IRIS

Abstract

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the global decline in public health status. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of stunting in the under-five in three municipalities in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted in August-December 2020 with 460 pairs of mothers and children selected by simple random sampling. Stunting was measured using a conventional anthropometric index (length/height-for-age), and anthropometric failure was measured using the Composite Index of Anthropometric Failure. The prevalence of stunting, underweight, and wasting was 41.5%,35%, and 19.8%, respectively, and 62% of the under-five experienced anthropometric failure. The dominant factor associated with stunting was immunization record (p-value = 0.011; AOR = 2.360; 95%CI = 1.218–4.573). Children who did not receive complete basic immunization were at a 2.4 times greater risk of stunting than children who received complete basic immunization. The dominant factors associated with underweight, wasting, and anthropometric failure were the father's educational level, mother's occupation, and balanced nutrition practice. Increasing coverage of complete basic immunization, improving balanced nutrition practices and socioeconomic conditions is necessary to prevent undernutrition, especially stunting.
