Abstract

Abstract. Dahlia, Ardiansyah, Amrullah, Khatimah K, Dwinhoven I, Mega DAU. 2025. Red dragon fruit peel as a natural pigment enhancer in goldfish (Carassius auratus). Asian J Agric 9: 777-786. Color quality enhancement is an important factor in the ornamental fish industry, particularly for goldfish (Carassius auratus), as it directly affects market value and consumer preference. The use of carotenoid-based feed additives offers a sustainable alternative for improving the visual appearance of fish. Red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) peel, which is generally discarded as agro-industrial waste, is known to contain natural carotenoids, particularly betacyanin and beta-carotene, which have potential applications in aquaculture. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Red Dragon Fruit Peel Extract (RDFPE) in improving the color brightness of goldfish, along with related physiological parameters. A completely randomized design was used, consisting of five RDFPE dosage treatments (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 mL/kg of feed), each with three replicates. The measured parameters included color brightness level, total carotenoid concentration, chromatophore cell count, growth, survival rate, and water quality. The results showed that RDFPE had a significant effect (p<0.05) on color brightness level, with the optimum response observed at 150 mL/kg, followed by a decline at higher dosages. In contrast, RDFPE had no significant effect (p>0.05) on growth or survival rate. Total carotenoid concentration and chromatophore cell count were reported descriptively (mean ± SD) without statistical analysis, indicating that differences among treatments for these parameters require further confirmation. Water quality remained within the optimal range. These findings highlight the potential of RDFPE as a natural and eco-friendly feed additive for enhancing ornamental fish coloration while promoting the sustainable utilization of agro-industrial waste.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Santri Identity Card (SIC) as a digital financial management innovation to enhance student discipline at the API ASRI Tegalrejo Magelang Islamic Boarding School. The research is motivated by the need for Islamic boarding schools to adapt to technological advancements while simultaneously strengthening students’ character development through an orderly, transparent, and accountable financial management system. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The analysis follows the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the SIC has a significant impact on students’ financial behavior. Students become more disciplined, measured, and responsible in managing their pocket money, as all transactions are automatically recorded and can be monitored in real time by administrators and guardians. This level of transparency encourages students to restrain consumptive behavior and to distinguish between needs and wants. For the Islamic boarding school, the SIC enhances administrative efficiency, improves record accuracy, and strengthens institutional financial accountability. However, several challenges remain, including limited digital literacy and occasional technical disruptions. These obstacles can be addressed through continuous training and mentoring. Overall, financial digitization through the SIC not only improves the effectiveness of Islamic boarding school management but also functions as an instrument for fostering Islamic character, particularly discipline and responsibility among students. This innovation demonstrates that technology can be harmoniously integrated into Islamic boarding school education.

Abstract

This community service activity (PkM) aims to empower students at the Mamba'ul Huda Kaliabu Islamic Boarding School through training on the use of CorelDRAW software to support the development of entrepreneurial skills known as santripreneurship. The program is motivated by the rapid advancement of information technology and digitalization, which has transformed the creative industry and increased the demand for graphic design skills. Adapting to digital transformation, particularly in producing promotional materials and visual identities, it is essential for Islamic boarding schools to develop graduates who are not only strong in religious knowledge but also competitive in the job market and technology-based entrepreneurial opportunities. This program applies an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach by identifying and utilizing local assets, including supporting facilities such as computers, laptops, projectors, internet access, alumni support with expertise in graphic design, and potential student resources. Training is conducted through interactive lectures, hands-on practice, and project-based learning, covering basic design concepts, the operation of CorelDRAW, and its application in the creation of logos, posters, and digital marketing materials. The results show a significant improvement in mastery of design tools and techniques, allowing them to produce marketable products and offer design services to the surrounding community. Collaborative support from alumni and working groups enriches the learning process. The impact of this program is reflected in the increase in creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurial motivation of students. This program shows that skills-based training with the ABCD approach effectively builds students' independence and entrepreneurial abilities in the digital economy era.

Abstract

The research titled “The Role of the Basic Education Division of the Bengkulu City Office of Education and Culture in Student Character Development (A Case Study at SMP Negeri 14 Bengkulu City)” aims to explain the implementation of character development through organizational functions, communication patterns, motivation and social influence, leadership, and organizational culture. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using Katz and Kahn’s (1978) theory, which views organizations as open social systems. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the Basic Education Division of the Bengkulu City Office of Education and Culture as well as SMP Negeri 14 Bengkulu City. The findings show that the Office of Education plays a strategic role in providing guidance, supervision, and policy support to schools. The school acts as the primary implementer in instilling character values through habituation activities such as communal prayer, morning literacy, environmental cleanliness, and religious programs. Communication between the office and the school is effectively established through both formal and informal channels, allowing coordination to run smoothly. Work motivation grows from a shared spirit and a sense of responsibility toward improving educational quality. The leadership style applied is participatory, open to new ideas, and emphasizes role modeling. The organizational culture that emerges reflects values of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, religiosity, and social concern as the foundation for character education. The research findings indicate that character development at SMP Negeri 14 Bengkulu City is effectively implemented due to the alignment between policy formulation and field implementation. The synergy between the Office of Education and the school forms an adaptive, participatory, and character-oriented working system that strengthens students’ values, discipline, and sense of responsibility.
