Abstract

This research explores the epistemology of artificial intelligence (AI) from an Islamic perspective to fill the gap in the literature that mostly only discusses the technical and ethical aspects of universal AI. Using bibliometric methods, this study analyzes trends, collaborations between researchers, and major themes in AI-Islamic studies, based on 200 documents from Google Scholar for the period 2015-2024. The analysis includes keyword co-occurrence, co-authorship, and citation density, with network map visualization through VOSviewer. The results show that AI is increasingly being applied in the fields of education, Islamic finance, and social management in Muslim societies, along with the increasing adoption of this technology globally. However, there are significant challenges related to the ethical, fair, and relevant application of AI to Islamic values, including the integration of Shariah principles in technology development. This research highlights opportunities to utilize AI to support the values of justice, welfare, and environmental stewardship grounded in Islamic spirituality. It contributes to the literature by integrating Islamic ontology, ethics, and epistemology in AI development, providing guidance that is not only conceptual but also applicable. It also highlights the need for cross-disciplinary collaboration to address emerging ethical and social challenges. As such, this research is not only relevant for Muslim societies but also offers a global perspective on how modern technology can be directed to support broader humanitarian goals based on Islamic values.

Abstract

The mismatch between graduate skills and labor market needs remains a challenge in education and training due to limited industry involvement in curriculum design. LPP Ariyanti’s Fashion Design Training Program stands out by producing work-ready graduates capable of entrepreneurship in fashion design. This study evaluates the program's learning system to understand its effectiveness. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, involving observation (checklist), interviews (guide), and document analysis (sheet). A purposive sampling method selected three informants: a marketing communication representative, a fashion instructor, and a training participant. Data analysis followed four steps: collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The program succeeded across all evaluated aspects. Raw inputs revealed participants with diverse educational backgrounds and ages, yet uniformly productive. Instrumental inputs included skilled instructors, a standards-aligned curriculum, and sufficient infrastructure. Environmental inputs involved engagement in events and institutional partnerships with government and industry. The process incorporated blended, participatory, and project-based learning, complemented by effective formative and summative evaluations. Outputs demonstrated improvements in participants’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities. Outcomes highlighted increased graduate incomes, though few participants have yet started their own businesses. The comprehensive design of LPP Ariyanti’s training program, integrating industry partnerships, effective teaching methods, and robust infrastructure, contributes to its success. However, further support is needed to encourage entrepreneurship among graduates. The Fashion Design Training Program at LPP Ariyanti effectively equips participants with skills for employment and entrepreneurship, offering a model for industry-aligned education.

Abstract

Challenges such as limited facilities, insufficient professional training, and resistance to pedagogical innovation hinder the effective implementation of advanced learning approaches in elementary education. This study aims to analyze how the deep learning approach is implemented in mathematics instruction at the elementary school level. A qualitative research design with a case study method was employed. Participants included 29 elementary school teachers—9 from Pagerwangi I Public Elementary School and 20 from Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah Al-Haq, West Java—selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using an observation instrument designed to assess the implementation of deep learning practices. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, involving data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the average teacher competency score in implementing the deep learning approach was 78.06%, categorized as "good." The implementation was structured around three key stages: initial, core, and closing activities. Initial activities focused on student readiness, motivation, and contextual connections. Core activities emphasized conceptual understanding, application, and the development of higher-order thinking skills. Closing activities involved reflection, feedback, assessment, and planning for subsequent learning. The study concludes that teachers demonstrated a solid alignment between deep learning principles and instructional practice. However, achieving optimal implementation requires further development of teachers’ conceptual understanding and emotional and social readiness. Enhancing these areas is essential for sustaining meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences in mathematics education at the elementary level. Future professional development programs should address these dimensions to support continued pedagogical transformation.

Abstract

Interactive Subtraction Reduction Media "SIP" is a learning media designed to address challenges in performing stacked subtraction calculations, both using borrowing techniques and without borrowing techniques, which are the main obstacles in subtraction operations. This study aims to identify the effectiveness of using "SIP" learning media to improve the procedural mathematical fluency of second-grade elementary school students. This research employs a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, namely a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The sample of this study consists of 19 second-grade students. It uses test instruments (pre-test and post-test). The results indicate a significant improvement in the procedural mathematical fluency of students before and after the treatment. This is evidenced by the difference test of means using the Wilcoxon test and analysis of n-gain scores with the aid of SPSS statistics 27. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. In addition, the results of the n-gain test have a high effectiveness criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the learning media 'SIP' is effective in improving the procedural mathematical fluency of second-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The quality of pedagogical interaction between educators and students constitutes a crucial factor determining learning effectiveness in elementary schools, yet teacher-centered approaches continue to dominate Indonesian learning practices. This study aims to analyze pedagogical interaction patterns, identify factors influencing interaction dynamics, and describe their implications for learning quality at SDN Sukagenah, Ciasem District. The research employs a mix method approach with explanatory sequential design, involving 54 first-grade students through purposive sampling technique, utilizing structured observations and questionnaires for quantitative data collection, alongside in-depth interviews and participatory observations for qualitative data. Results indicate that majority of students experience moderate-category interactions with highest emotional support (M=3.38) but low instructional support (M=2.96), dominated by unidirectional patterns in 68% of learning sessions. Five determinant factors were identified: teacher pedagogical competence, high teacher-student ratio (1:27), facility limitations, students' socio-economic background, and authoritarian school culture. Significant positive correlations were found between interaction quality and learning achievement, particularly instructional support (r=0.523, p<0.01), with high-quality interaction students achieving N-gain of 0.389 compared to 0.176 in low-quality group. This research recommends pedagogical transformation toward dialogic-interactive learning, teacher competency enhancement through continuous training, teacher-student ratio optimization, and development of democratic school culture to support meaningful learning within the Merdeka Curriculum context.

Abstract

This mixed-method study explores the philosophical essence and practical implications of modern educational tools through examining teacher perceptions and student learning outcomes. The research addresses fundamental questions about how technology reshapes teacher-student relationships, transforms learning epistemology, and redefines educational objectives in contemporary pedagogy. Employing an explanatory sequential design, the study involved 45 students from SDN Tunas Jaya selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative analysis utilized structured tests and observations to measure cognitive achievement, while qualitative inquiry employed in-depth interviews with teachers to investigate their philosophical understanding and practical experiences. Results demonstrate significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with mean scores increasing from 72.4 to 83.6, and standard deviation decreasing from 8.2 to 6.1, indicating enhanced consistency across diverse learner abilities. Paired sample t-test yielded significance value of 0.000, confirming statistically meaningful differences. Qualitative findings reveal teacher awareness of paradigmatic shifts from knowledge transmitters to learning facilitators who mediate active knowledge construction. Thematic analysis identified three convergent themes regarding technological integration in education. Data triangulation establishes positive correlation between teachers' philosophical comprehension and learning effectiveness, confirming that technology serves as effective catalyst only when supported by robust pedagogical foundations. The study concludes that successful implementation of modern educational tools requires integrating technical competence with deep philosophical understanding, creating synergy between technological innovation and pedagogical wisdom in twenty-first century learning contexts.

Abstract

Research related to the use of the Matific platform in mathematics learning is still scattered with diverse focuses and contexts. The study aims to map the use of the Matific digital platform in mathematics learning through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with bibliometric analysis using the PRISMA protocol. The findings show that Matific is most widely used at the primary school level, with research concentrated in Brazil and Indonesia as the two countries with the highest number of publications. This platform consistently has a positive impact on student motivation and engagement in all studies reviewed, while improvements in student learning outcomes and conceptual understanding of mathematics are also widely reported, albeit with varying degrees of effectiveness depending on the different implementation contexts. These findings indicate that the effectiveness of Matific is highly dependent on the quality of pedagogical integration, teacher readiness, and the availability of technological infrastructure, rather than solely on the platform itself.

Abstract

Enhancing elementary students’ critical thinking skills is a key educational objective. Instructional approaches such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Task-Based Learning (TBL) are widely used, with their effectiveness potentially influenced by students’ learning motivation. This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest and a 2×3 factorial design without randomization. The sample consisted of 50 sixth-grade students from an elementary school in Bandung, Indonesia. Data were collected באמצעות critical thinking tests and learning motivation questionnaires. Statistical analyses were conducted to examine the effects of instructional methods and motivation levels.Students taught PjBL demonstrated higher average gains in critical thinking skills compared to those taught TBL. Both PjBL and TBL significantly improved students’ critical thinking abilities. Additionally, learning motivation had a positive and significant effect on critical thinking outcomes across both instructional methods. Interaction effects indicated that the impact of each method varied depending on students’ motivation levels. The findings suggest that while both PjBL and TBL are effective in fostering critical thinking, PjBL yields superior outcomes. Learning motivation plays a crucial role in maximizing the effectiveness of these instructional approaches. Therefore, integrating motivational strategies with appropriate pedagogical methods is essential to optimize students’ critical thinking development.
