Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in creating social justice, particularly in ensuring equal access to learning amidst the economic inequality that remains a challenge in Indonesia. In addition to serving as a platform for transferring knowledge, education also serves to shape the character, social values, and personality of students. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods to explore the relationship between educational policies and learning practices that influence equal learning opportunities at various levels of education. Data were collected through a literature review of books, scientific journals, and policy documents related to social justice issues in education. The results indicate that increasing access to education, equalizing learning facilities and infrastructure, and strengthening teacher competencies in addressing the socioeconomic diversity of students are key factors in realizing educational equality. Therefore, education that is inclusive, equitable, and based on humanitarian values is an essential foundation for building a society that upholds social justice.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine how students learn values and norms from the perspective of Islamic sociology of education, focusing on the role of family and school as primary determinants in shaping a child's personality. The method used was library research, collecting and analyzing various sources such as books, journals, and relevant previous research. The results indicate that socialization occurs in two main stages: primary socialization, which occurs within the family environment, and secondary socialization, which occurs at school. Within the family, children receive basic values and norms through affection, emotional support, and guidance from parents. At school, teachers act as coaches and role models, helping students understand moral, social, and religious values through concrete examples and a learning approach appropriate to the child's developmental stage, based on Jean Piaget's theory. This study concludes that collaboration between family, school, and community is crucial in creating a positive socialization process, thus developing students with strong character, good morals, and the ability to adapt positively to their social environment.

Abstract

The development of globalization and advances in digital technology have had a major influence on the way society builds its identity and culture. In this context, education plays an important role as the main forum for the formation of moral values, character and national spirit in the midst of continuously developing global cultural flows. This research uses a qualitative method with a library research approach through the study of various scientific sources that discuss the themes of education, socio-cultural identity and the impact of globalization. The results of the study show that the application of multicultural education and citizenship education can foster attitudes of tolerance, empathy and a strong sense of nationalism. Apart from that, the use of information technology in the teaching and learning process opens up opportunities for educational innovation, but requires increased digital literacy so that students are able to think critically and wisely in filtering foreign cultural influences. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that education does not only function to transfer knowledge, but is also the main foundation in forming a strong and responsive national character and identity to global dynamics.

Abstract

The family is the first and most important social environment in shaping a child's character. From birth, children are influenced by the values and culture within their family, such as empathy, discipline, morality, and responsibility. The formation of these values occurs through socialization, parenting, and parental example. This study aims to analyze the role of the family as the primary foundation in shaping children's social values by examining previous research. The method used was a literature review, examining relevant scientific literature. The results indicate that democratic parenting and effective communication are the best strategies for developing positive social behavior in children. However, the challenges of the digital era are factors that families need to consider in maintaining the quality of interactions and the formation of children's social values. Collaboration between families, schools, and the community is necessary for the consistent and ongoing development of children's social character.

Abstract

Schools are recognized as the main institutions for socialization, where interactions among school members and the teaching of cultural values take place. This article explains the function of schools as drivers of socialization in building students’ character through learning processes, teacher examples, school culture, and collaboration with parents and the community. This study is qualitative in nature, using a literature review approach that provides explanations based on various relevant studies on character education. The literature review highlights the importance of cooperation between families and schools in the character formation process. Teachers act as educators who transfer religious and national values to students, while parents serve as primary role models influencing children’s behavior. An inclusive school culture also helps deepen students’ understanding and appreciation of character values. In addition, this study identifies several obstacles in implementing character education, such as teachers’ limited understanding of character education, the absence of a specific character curriculum, limited time, and insufficient parental support. The proposed solutions include improving teacher professionalism, integrating character values into learning, strengthening partnerships between schools and families, and providing adequate policy and resource support. The findings are expected to contribute to both theoretical insights and practical implementation of character education in schools.

Abstract

Gender equality in Indonesian education faces complex structural and cultural challenges, including stereotypes, unequal leadership representation, and entrenched patriarchal norms within society and educational institutions. A literature review of journals, books, and gender mainstreaming policies indicates that despite increased access to education for women, gender disparities persist through discriminatory practices, social expectations limiting female participation, and limited representation in certain fields. Schools play a strategic role as agents of change by implementing gender-sensitive curricula, providing gender literacy training for teachers, creating inclusive learning environments, and developing community-based programs that foster collaboration, leadership, and empathy. Education serves as a tool for social transformation, shaping critical thinking, enhancing social awareness, and restructuring social systems toward equity. Gender-responsive education contributes to reducing stereotypes, increasing female participation, and building a collective culture that values equality. These findings underscore the need for a holistic approach integrating policy, educational practices, and community engagement to achieve gender justice in education, while supporting the development of an inclusive, democratic, and equitable society.

Abstract

This research intends to examine the shifts in social values brought about by formal education in the digital age, where advancements in information and communication technology profoundly influence the learning experience. This change necessitates the incorporation of technology in education, focusing on enhancing social values as a basis for developing students' character. The research utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach by reviewing 10 Indonesian scientific articles published in the past five years. Data were gathered and thematically examined to determine the influence of digital literacy, curriculum technology integration, and government policies in facilitating the change of social values. The findings indicate that digital literacy plays a crucial role in enhancing social values, whereas the effectiveness of technology integration largely relies on teacher skills, infrastructure access, and appropriate policy backing. This research advocates for continuous training for teachers and fair access to technology to guarantee the successful transition to digital education, addressing both technological aspects and the effective maintenance of social values and norms. The results are anticipated to act as a guide for policymakers and education practitioners in enhancing the role of technology in formal education to create generations that are both digitally proficient and have a robust social character
