Abstract

Advances in digital technology in the 21st century have changed the way students access and interact with learning materials, particularly through platforms like YouTube. This study aims to examine the relationship between students' learning style preferences—based on the VARK (Visual, Aural, Read/Write, Kinesthetic) model—and their interest in using YouTube as an English language learning medium. The research design employed a quantitative correlational approach applied to a sample of 20 sixth-semester students from the University of Kepulauan Riau. Data were collected using the VARK questionnaire and a Likert scale instrument adapted from validated research to measure interest in YouTube-assisted English language learning. The results of the normality test indicated that the data for the variables of interest were normally distributed (p = 0.148). However, due to the categorical nature of the learning style variables, Spearman's Rank Correlation was used. The findings revealed a weak and insignificant negative correlation (ρ = -0.266, p > 0.05) between learning style preferences and students' interest in YouTube-based English language learning. This suggests that YouTube, as a multimodal learning platform, can attract a diverse range of learners, regardless of their preferred learning styles. This study recommends integrating YouTube into teaching practices and conducting further research with broader variables and larger samples.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of rewards, punishments, work environment, incentives, and work discipline on employee performance at the Batu Aji Subdistrict Office, Batam City. Employee performance plays a very important role in the success of public sector services, so understanding the factors that influence it is very important. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method involving fifty employees as respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using multiple linear regression after being collected through questionnaires. The results showed that rewards, work environment, incentives, and work discipline had a significant effect on employee performance, while punishment had no significant effect. Rewards, work environment, incentives, and work discipline were proven to have the greatest partial effect on employee performance. These findings contribute theoretically to enriching the literature on factors that influence employee performance in the sector, as well as contributing practically to government management to pay more attention to these aspects in order to improve employee performance at the Batu Aji Subdistrict Office. However, this study has limitations in terms of the relatively small sample size, which should be expanded for broader generalization in future studies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of leadership style and work motivation on employee productivity in the Batam City Government (Pemko Batam), considering the work environment as an intermediary variable. The method used is a mixed approach between qualitative and quantitative methods. For the qualitative approach, in-depth interviews, field observations, and document studies related to the research object were conducted. Meanwhile, for the quantitative approach, a survey was conducted on 250 employees at Pemko Batam, with data collected through questionnaires distributed using purposive sampling. The results of the study show that both qualitative and quantitative approaches have the same correlation results: leadership style significantly affects employee productivity, work motivation has a positive relationship with employee productivity, and the work environment is proven to act as an intermediary variable that affects the relationship between leadership style and work motivation with employee productivity in the Batam City Government.

Abstract

The tendency of Islam is very thick in the Integrated Islamic Kindergarten (TKIT) and Integrated Islamic Elementary School (SDIT) circles. However, several schools focusing on increasing religious performance and management still need to fully interpret the role of organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB). The study concentrates on the role of OCB as a mediator in influencing spiritual motivation and spiritual leadership on religious performance in one of the kindergarten and primary schools from West Kalimantan. Quantitative methods, where in-depth exploration through surveys applies, support us, teachers and teaching staff. Resource persons were determined by a disproportionate stratified random sampling technique totalling 409 participants. We chose path analysis to interpret the data, so there are five essential points. The findings in the first model show that spiritual motivation and leadership have a significant effect on OCB. In the second model, spiritual motivation and OCB also significantly affect religious performance, whereas spiritual leadership does not. The implications of the output analysis indicate that the more spiritual motivation and spiritual leadership increase, the more it encourages OCB. Too, the more spiritual motivation and OCB increase, it also stimulates religious performance in the long term.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the microteaching course on the mental health of sixth-semester students in the English Education program at University of Riau Kepulauan. Microteaching is a required course for future teachers to prepare them to teach using simulation methods on a small scale before students engage in teaching practice in real classroom settings. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Thirty sixth-semester students who have completed the microteaching course participated in this study. Data were collected through the Behavioral Health Measure (BHM) questionnaire, which measures three indicators, such as well-being, psychological symptoms, and life functioning. The results of the study showed that the students' mental health was in the good category, with an average score of 71,17%. 33,3% of students had excellent mental health, and only 3,4% experienced moderate stress. The psychological symptoms indicators showed the highest score (2,88), followed by well-being (2,83) and life functioning (2,75). These findings indicate that the microteaching course does not have a significant negative impact on students' mental health. Students were able to manage the anxiety and pressure that arose during the learning process well. This study also highlights the importance of ongoing psychological monitoring and institutional support throughout performance-based academic learning processes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of understanding and implementing human resource management (HRM) on individual performance effectiveness. The research approach used is quantitative descriptive-verification with data collection through a Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) to test the relationship between latent variables. The results show that HRM understanding has a positive and significant effect on HRM implementation, and HRM implementation has a significant effect on individual performance effectiveness. In addition, HRM understanding has an indirect effect on performance effectiveness through HRM implementation as a mediating variable. These findings emphasize the importance of increasing individual literacy and competence in understanding HRM principles to improve performance sustainably. This study provides theoretical contributions to the development of a competency-based HRM performance model and offers practical implications for organizations to strengthen training and integrated HRM management systems
