Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of sustainable agricultural land protection in Malang Regency, Indonesia, focusing on the institutional integration of community participation in controlling land-use conversion. Rapid urbanization has intensified pressure on agricultural zones, challenging food security and ecological sustainability. Despite the presence of national and local legal frameworks such as Law No. 41/2009 and Regional Regulation No. 6/2015, the implementation of land protection remains weak due to limited inter-agency coordination, regulatory fragmentation, and marginal public involvement. This research employed a qualitative approach using literature review, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and NVivo-assisted thematic coding to analyze institutional practices and community perceptions. Findings reveal that community participation is largely informal and reactive, lacking formalized channels in spatial planning processes. The absence of inclusive governance mechanisms has reduced regulatory legitimacy and effectiveness. A proposed hierarchical model advocates for legislative reform, institutionalized participatory procedures, and targeted capacity-building as integrated strategies to strengthen land governance. The study concludes that participatory approaches embedded within legal and institutional systems enhance policy effectiveness and provide a viable framework for replicating sustainable land-use governance in regions facing similar socio-political constraints.

This paper examines the effect of perceived value and service quality on brand trust directly and indirectly through customer satisfaction. Brand trust can be defined as the relationship between consumers and the corporate that is based on trust and reliability of its performance. Questionnaires were given to guests of three-star hotels in Malang, Indonesia, with 158 surveys returned and 114 valid responses were analyzed. Reliability and validity were examined first, and partial least squares (PLS-SEM) analysis was performed to evaluate the determinant coefficient (R2), predictive relevance (Q2), and effect size (f2). Results showed customer satisfaction partially mediates perceived value on brand trust, and fully mediates the relationship between service quality and brand trust. Future research in other developing countries, against different hotel class, with international guests, is recommended. Managerial implications were discussed.

Abstract

The management of hazardous medical waste is an important aspect in maintaining occupational safety and the environment in healthcare facilities. Medical waste collection activities have high potential hazards, such as the risk of needle stick injuries, chemical exposure, and biological contamination. This study aims to analyze the potential hazards and risks in the process of collecting hazardous medical waste using the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) and Bowtie Analysis methods. The HIRARC method is used to identify hazards, assess risk levels, and determine appropriate control measures, while the Bowtie method is used to map the relationship between causes, top events, consequences, and controls. The results of the analysis show that hazards with high risk levels originate from direct contact with sharp objects and infectious materials. Recommended control measures include the use of complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), routine training on waste handling, and the implementation of strict standard operating procedures. The integration of the HIRARC and Bowtie methods proved effective in providing a comprehensive overview of potential hazards and risk control strategies in the collection of hazardous medical waste, thus improving work safety and preventing environmental pollution.

Abstract

This study tested the effectiveness of matching cards in increasing interest in learning Arabic for eighth-grade students at MTsN 2 Surabaya. The background was that monotonous Arabic learning methods made students less interested. Using quantitative and quasi-experimental methods, this study used tests, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed a sharp increase in student interest and grades after using matching cards, as evidenced by a t-test with significant results (<0.05) and an average increase of 13.545 points. This indicates that interactive media such as matching cards are effective in making learning Arabic more varied, enjoyable, and increasing student motivation and achievement. The results of this study also provide practical implications for teachers in developing more creative and innovative learning strategies. Matching cards can be used as an alternative method for teaching vocabulary, which is often considered difficult and boring. Through game activities, students not only practice memorizing words but also engage in aspects of cooperation, communication, and social interaction in the classroom. Thus, the learning process not only focuses on cognitive aspects but also builds motivation, positive attitudes, and social skills. This study recommends the use of similar media in other subjects to create a fun and effective learning environment

Abstract

Education in Indonesia is still dominated by a traditional, teacher-centered, authoritarian approach that provides little space for students to explore and develop their potential. This condition impacts the low creativity and independence of students, particularly in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools. This study aims to examine the application of the philosophy of progressivism as an alternative to building creativity and independence through democratic learning. The method used is qualitative research with a literature study, reviewing literature in the form of books, journals, and relevant articles. The results of the study indicate that progressivism can be implemented through differentiated learning that adapts content, processes, products, and learning environments to students' needs and interests. This strategy encourages active participation, critical thinking, independence, and increases learning motivation. Teachers act as facilitators and motivators, creating a collaborative, contextual atmosphere that aligns with the Independent Curriculum. Overall, progressivism is an innovative solution to improve the quality of Indonesian language learning while developing a creative, independent, and adaptive generation to global challenges.
