Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the concepts and basic principles of the balance scorecard relevant to Islamic education management, the stages and perspectives of the balance scorecard that can be applied in Islamic education planning, and the advantages and disadvantages of the balance scorecard in Islamic education strategy planning. It uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. Data was obtained through reviewing various literature such as books, articles, and journals to understand the phenomenon in depth theoretically and conceptually without involving field data collection. The results show that the balance scorecard (BSC) is a strategic management tools that assesses performance through four perspectives: financial, customer, internal processes, learning and growth, so that organizations obtain a more holistic picture of performance. In Islamic education, BSC helps align vision, strategy, programs, and performance indicators, despite its weaknesses such as the need for competent human resources and the potential for to many indicators. However, various studies show that BSC remains effective in improving the quality and performance of institutions in a targeted manner.

Abstract

Global educational challenges demand the development of critical thinking through approaches that integrate cognitive and ethical dimensions. This study examines how computational thinking and spirituality contribute to the development of students’ critical thinking skills in Indonesia and Malaysia. Using a quantitative design, data were collected from university students in both countries and analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The analysis reveals that computational thinking plays a more influential role in shaping students’ critical thinking in Malaysia, reflecting the strong emphasis on analytical and digital reasoning in instructional practices. In contrast, spirituality makes a stronger contribution in the Indonesian context, underscoring the importance of moral and spiritual values in supporting reflective and ethical reasoning. These differences highlight the role of cultural and pedagogical contexts in shaping cognitive development. Ultimately, the study demonstrates that integrating computational thinking and spirituality provides a holistic framework for strengthening students’ critical thinking, offering relevant implications for curriculum design and educational policy in higher education.

Abstract

Reading ability is fundamental for literacy development, yet many Indonesian students, including those at MIS Al-Hidayah Karangploso, struggle with simple texts due to limited engaging learning media. This study developed and evaluated an interactive Games Book to enhance early reading skills among 32 second-grade students using the ADDIE-based R&D approach. The digital flipbook integrates progressive reading stages (words, sentences, texts) with game-based activities providing immediate feedback and sustained engagement. Expert validation indicated high content validity with I-CVI = 1.00 for media, material, and language. Media was visually appealing and technically reliable; material was relevant, accurate, and engaging; language was appropriate, readable, and clear. Teacher and student responses confirmed strong practicality. Effectiveness testing showed students’ average scores increased from 63.78 to 91.56 (N-Gain = 0.8, high category), with Paired Sample t-test Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, Cohen’s d = 1.51 and the 95% confidence interval (–34.90 to –20.66) indicate that the improvement was both statistically significant and practically meaningful. The Games Book is therefore highly valid, practical, and effective in improving early reading skills and motivation through structured, interactive digital learning experiences.

Abstract

Education must adapt to technological developments in order to maximize both the challenges and benefits that arise. The integration of digital technology in classroom learning has become one of the important innovations in contemporary learning. This article describes research and development of Android-based fiqh learning media designed to improve the learning outcomes of 10th grade students in Islamic high schools. This study used an R&D method with the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages from analysis to evaluation. The resulting product is an Android application called Baitullah, which focuses on Hajj and Umrah material. This product was declared highly feasible by three validators, with a percentage of 95% from subject matter experts, 96% from media experts, and 97% from learning practitioners. The responses of 20 students regarding the attractiveness of the product reached a percentage of 87% in the very attractive category. The N-Gain value was recorded at 0.59, indicating sufficient effectiveness. The t-test also yielded a p-value < 0,001, thus rejecting H0 and accepting Ha. It can be concluded from the analysis that there was a significant increase in learning outcomes after using the product, indicating that the Android-based fiqh learning media is effective for learning.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to examine teachers’ resistance to curriculum changes occurring in Indonesia, which encompasses aspects of lesson planning, teaching implementation, and learning assessment. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were gathered through interview techniques using focus group discussions involving 20 teachers of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Additionally, it encompassed the study of lesson planning documents and learning task outcomes. On top of that, data condensation, data display, and conclusions drawn were also used for data analysis. Furthermore, to ensure the validity of the research findings, data triangulation among various sources was conducted. The research findings showed that teachers’ resistance to curriculum changes fell into the moderate category. This was primarily because teachers view curriculum changes as ordinary occurrences. In terms of lesson planning, teachers struggled to identify operational verbs relevant to competency achievement indicators, particularly those related to action verbs from the basic competencies or learning outcomes. Regarding teaching implementation, in addition, teachers still lacked experience in implementing the curriculum recommended, such as Project Based Learning (PjBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Furthermore, in the aspect of learning evaluation, teachers encountered difficulties in generating questions that prioritized higher-order thinking Skills (HOTS). As a result, the role of the Institute of Teachers’ Education (LPTK) and the training institute for teachers’ pedagogical and professional competence development needs to be expanded.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and measure the influence of Islamic values-based Human Resource Management (HRM) and teacher certification on the quality of education at MAN 2 Parepare City. Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population was all 69 educators at MAN 2 Parepare, with a sample of 65 certified teachers taken using a census technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity), and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The results showed that partially, Islamic values-based HRM had a positive and significant effect on the quality of education with t-count (4.596) > t-table (1.66980) and significance 0.000 < 0.05. Teacher certification also had a positive and significant effect with t-count (3.458) > t-table and significance 0.001 < 0.05. Simultaneously, both variables had a positive and significant effect on the quality of education with F-count (37.894) > F-table (3.15) and significance 0.000. The R Square value was 0.550, indicating that both variables explained 55% of the variation in education quality. Novelty: This research integrates Islamic values-based HRM and teacher certification in a single model, which has never been done in previous studies that examined both variables separately.
