Abstract

Current learning developments are adapted to society's needs, which have developed and entered the 21st century. Creative thinking abilities and digital literacy are 21st-century competencies that students need to develop. This study investigates the impact of an e-book STEM-PjBL on seventh-grade students' creative thinking skills and digital literacy. The research employs a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design involving a sample of 32 students selected through random sampling at one of Sleman's public junior high schools. The study utilizes a creative thinking test and a digital literacy questionnaire to assess students' skills before and after the intervention. This research highlights the importance of innovative teaching materials in enhancing students' learning experiences and outcomes. The findings reveal that the STEM-PjBL e-book enhances students' creative thinking abilities, with gain scores categorized as moderate across the aspects of Fluency (0.45), flexibility (0.38), and novelty (0.60). Additionally, students' digital literacy is positively impacted, with the aspect of using skills rated as "very good" (85.1%), while collaboration skills (81.3%) and communication skills (83.5%) are categorized as "good." The results indicate that integrating technology through STEM-PjBL e-books fosters creative thinking and improves students' digital literacy, thereby addressing the educational needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junior high school students’ collaboration skills in ecology learning through the use of Lumi-based interactive videos. Collaboration is recognized as a critical 21st-century skill that needs to be cultivated in science education. The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study design, involving no control group or pre-test. The participants were 20 seventh-grade students from MTsN 1 Majene, selected through convenience sampling. The intervention was conducted over two class meetings using a 12-minute interactive video integrated with digital worksheets (LKPD). Data were collected using a collaboration skills questionnaire and a behavioral observation sheet. The results revealed that students’ collaboration ability was in the “High” category, with an average score of 78.75. The shared responsibility indicator showed strong consistency between self-assessment and observation (2.82% difference), while the flexibility indicator exhibited signs of overestimation (5% gap), and the diversity indicator showed a notable disparity between self-perception and actual behavior (6.25% gap). These findings indicate that Lumi interactive video media effectively supports the development of collaboration skills and highlight the need for differentiated instruction. The study offers practical insights into integrating digital literacy with collaborative pedagogy, in alignment with the Pancasila Student Profile framework

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to find out the influence of practicum-based outdoor inquiry model on science process skills. Quasi-experiment design was employed as the research method by Matching Only Post-test Control Group. The research sample was taken using a cluster sampling technique. The samples consisted of experimental class (XI MIA 1) in a total of 25 students treated with practicum-based outdoor inquiry model. The control class (XI MIA 3) consisted of 29 students treated with direct instruction model. In collecting the data, essay test was used in the form of worksheets containing the aspect of science process skills of formulating hypotheses, designing experiment, interpreting data into tables, and drawing a conclusion (inferring). The study results demonstrate that practicum-based outdoor inquiry model was effective in improving the science process skills. It was shown in p-value (significant) of 0.00. The implication of this study is the need to design a practicum-based outdoor inquiry model by noticing what skills are going to improve by means of more varied outdoor activities.

Abstract

This research aimed to improve students’ ability in mastering mathematical representation and self-efficacy in an optical material. The pre-experimental design was implemented as the research method by one group pre-test and post-test. The samples were selected by implementing a cluster random sampling technique. The sample consisted of the eleventh-grade Science students with a total number of 54 in SMAN 1 Sleman. The students’ ability in mathematical representation was measured by using pre-test and post-test in the form of an essay test. Students’ self-efficacy was measured by using a questionnaire as the research instrument. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and descriptive analysis to determine the N-Gain score and self-efficacy was calculated by using percentages. The results revealed that the PBL E-Handout supported by PhET simulation using Schoology could improve students’ mathematical representation abilities and self-efficacy. This is indicated by the value of Asymp Sig. (2-tailed) smaller than 0.05 where 0.000<0.05 and the N-Gain score is 0.3 in the intermediate category

Abstract

Angklung is a traditional musical instrument from West Java that can be used as a learning medium for sound concepts. The study focuses on pentatonic Angklung as a musical instrument commonly used in Ngaseuk ceremonies as rice planting rituals in the Baduy tribe. This study aims to report the integration of pentatonic Angklung into physics experiments and investigate multiple representation skills. Technology-based mobile used as an experimental tool is Phypox. The designed activity aims to identify multiple representation skills using guided-inquiry models in four stages: Open, Explore, Create, and Share. The study participants are 31 8th-grade students at one of the junior high schools in West Java Province, Indonesia. Experiment activities investigate variables that affect the frequency of the pentatonic Angklung. A worksheet guides experiment activities following the syntax of the guided-inquiry model. The study results show that students use different representations at each stage in the worksheet. Students use four representations in this experimental activity: verbal, mathematical, pictorial, and graphical. It can be concluded that integrating pentatonic Angklung into physics experiments can identify students' multiple representation skills in junior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the cognitive learning outcomes of students before and after using PBL student worksheets assisted by PhET Simulations on simple aircraft material. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 32 students of class VIII H at SMPN X Yogyakarta in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 school year which was determined by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a multiple choice test of 15 items that measured cognitive learning outcomes based on Bloom's cognitive taxonomy levels C2, C3, C4. The results showed a significant increase in the cognitive learning outcomes of students before and after using PBL student worksheets assisted by PhET Simulations on simple aircraft material. The pretest average score of 61.97 increased to 84.41 on the posttest, exceeding the minimum completeness criteria. The normality test shows that the data is normally distributed. The paired sample t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest. The effect size value of 1.73 is in the large category, indicating a strong influence of the treatment on students' cognitive learning outcomes
