Abstract

This study analyzes the change of the Saudi Pro League (SPL) from 2021 to 2024, assessing whether these initiatives represent sportswashing or authentic nation branding. Since 2021, Saudi Arabia has allocated billions into the acquisition of international football talents and the enhancement of facilities, notwithstanding global condemnation of its human rights record. This research utilizes Anholt's nation branding hexagon framework and adopts a qualitative case study technique with comparative aspects, incorporating official documents, public opinion surveys, media content analysis, and tourism statistics. Findings indicate a multifaceted "strategic sports diplomacy" approach that surpasses the simplistic sportswashing/branding dichotomy, yielding disproportionate outcomes across several objectives. Despite SPL's notable commercial success, including airing in over 130 countries, generating over $300 million in annual revenue, and attracting an additional 310,000 tourists, enhancements in reputation within Western markets were limited, especially among viewers emphasizing human rights issues. The study demonstrates a "Western perception paradox," wherein substantial visibility gains did not result in enhanced favorability, while demographic analysis indicates markedly more positive perceptions among younger viewers, active fans, and non-Western demographics. This study enhances the theoretical comprehension of sports diplomacy by illustrating how audience segmentation influences effectiveness across demographic, geographic, and cultural dimensions, thereby contesting simplistic assessments of sports-based nation branding and offering frameworks for analyzing the multifaceted outcomes of modern sports diplomacy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the revitalization of local traditions as learning resources in Social and Natural Sciences (IPAS) instruction at SDN 4 Sila. The research stems from the low utilization of local traditions in IPAS learning, despite the high educational potential of local culture in developing students’ knowledge, attitudes, and social skills. Local traditions rich in wisdom, social norms, and cultural practices are considered capable of connecting learning to students’ real-life contexts, thereby enhancing its relevance and quality. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, the study involved IPAS teachers, community leaders, and students, with data collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that local traditions hold great potential as IPAS learning resources, especially in fostering social competence, cultural values, and understanding of space and time, although teachers have not maximized their use due to limited pedagogical knowledge and a lack of culturally integrated teaching materials. Revitalizing local traditions through integration into learning modules, culture-based media, and collaboration with community leaders has proven to increase student engagement, understanding of IPAS concepts, and appreciation for local culture. The study concludes that utilizing local traditions as learning resources is an effective strategy for improving IPAS learning quality in elementary schools and emphasizes the need for systematic revitalization through the development of teaching materials, teacher training, and school–community partnerships.

Abstract

This study aims to examine holistic education as a multidisciplinary approach with strong potential for human development within the Bima community. Holistic education is conceptualized as an educational paradigm that integrates cognitive, affective, psychomotor, moral, social, spiritual, and ecological dimensions in a balanced and interconnected manner. In the context of Bima society, this approach is particularly relevant because it aligns with local philosophical values such as Maja Labo Dahu and Ngaha Aina Ngoho, which emphasize integrity, ethical conduct, diligence, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method through an extensive literature review and phenomenological analysis of educational practices in Bima. The findings indicate that holistic education functions as a multidisciplinary synthesis, drawing upon pedagogy, anthropology, developmental psychology, sociology, and ecopedagogy to support comprehensive human formation. The integration of local wisdom into educational processes has been shown to effectively strengthen character education and ecological awareness, enabling learners to develop competitiveness and global readiness without eroding their cultural identity. Furthermore, holistic education provides a strategic framework for responding to contemporary educational challenges, including moral degradation, environmental crises, and the fragmentation of knowledge. By positioning local culture as the core of educational integration, this approach fosters sustainable human development rooted in local values while remaining responsive to global demands. The study concludes that holistic education represents a viable and contextually grounded strategy for advancing sustainable human development in the Bima community in the era of globalization.

Abstract

The agricultural sector's sustainability is seriously threatened by climate change, especially in vulnerable places like Perigi Village, which is primarily made up of peatlands. Due to a lack of knowledge about climate change adaptation and mitigation, farmers face decreasing productivity, seasonal uncertainty, and the risk of land fires. Through training, outreach, technical support, and the use of basic technologies based on climate-smart agriculture, the Climate-Smart Agriculture Farmers Education and Action Movement programme seeks to increase farmer capacity. Extension, hands-on training, agrosilvofishery systems, educational media, and the formation of Climate-Smart Agriculture Farmers Groups are some of the techniques employed. The program's results demonstrate a significant increase in farmer knowledge, the ability to apply adaptive techniques, and the creation of regional organisations that support collective efforts to reduce climate risks. This activity has an educational, social, ecological, and economic impact on the community and can be replicated as a model for village empowerment. This curriculum emphasises the importance of collaboration between academics, village administrations, and farmers in order to create sustainable agriculture and community resilience to climate change.

Abstract

This study examines the potential of Megapodius reinwardt as an ecotourism attraction and learning resource, as well as the implications of ecotourism-based contextual teaching and learning (CTL) on students' science process skills. The approach employed was a mixed-methods design in both the experimental and control classes. Science process skills data were collected through observation and written pre-tests and post-tests in both groups. Data analysis was conducted both quantitatively and descriptively, as well as qualitatively. Quantitative analysis was conducted on ecological indices, resource use, and the implications of CTL on science process skill. The seven groups of experimental students identified 14-16 characteristics of M. reinwardt, including eight unique aspects: nests in the form of mounds of soil mixed with litter, built cooperatively, used collectively, repeatedly, large eggs, buried in the ground, do not incubate their eggs, and do not raise young. Four environmental factors have a big effect on how many M. reinwardt there are: how far away they are from the river channel, what kind of trash they are in, how bright the light is, and how dense the vegetation is.  The        N-gain analysis of post-test scores between the experimental and control classes, employing the Mann-Whitney Test, produced an Asymp Sig value of 0.00 ≤ 0.05, signifying a substantial enhancement in students' science process skills within the experimental class.  Ecotourism-based CTL has beneficial and substantial effects on students' scientific process skills while concurrently facilitating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through community empowerment, economic enhancement, environmental preservation, and the advancement of sustainable education.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a high diversity of religions and local beliefs, making tolerance an absolute requirement for maintaining social stability from ideological and physical conflict. However, the challenges of modernization often test how these values of tolerance are internalized by the younger generation amidst the free flow of information. This study aims to analyze the perspectives and understanding of the millennial generation regarding the practice of interfaith tolerance in everyday life. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected through field observations and in-depth interviews with millennial respondents. Data analysis techniques were carried out using the Miles and Hubberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation (data display), and verification or drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that millennials have a very positive and open view of interfaith harmony. Respondents tend to separate theological domains from social interactions, where they consider religion as an individual's right to privacy that should not hinder social cooperation. They are not affected by differences in belief in building professional or personal relationships. Practically, this study provides policymakers and educational institutions with an understanding that the narrative of religious moderation has been well-received by millennials, which can become important social capital in maintaining national integration in the future.
