Abstract

Multicultural education is one of learning that provides understanding and tolerance attitudes towardsdiversity. This study has reviewed the multicultural education system which will be the basis for children about the importance of diversity, whether the diversity in races, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, economic status, and so forth. As for the research method used in this research is a constructive paradigm with a case study approach through observation, interviews, and documentation in the Yayasan Perguruan Sultan Iskandar Muda (YPSIM) to collect the data. To strengthen the data, the researchers prioritized informants who has a role in management structures, teachers, students from various ethnicities and religions as well as communities around the Yayasam Perguruan Sultan Iskandar Muda, Medan. The results of the study indicates that the Yayasan Perguruan Sultan Iskandar Muda Foundation has implemented a multicultural education program that has made students become more understand about the meaning of diversity and more tolerant of diversity in religion and ethnicity in Medan.

Abstract

Artikel ini menjelaskan tentang hilangnya tradisi Rarangkén, faktor penyebab beserta dampak yang ditimbulkan bagi masyarakat Kampung Cikantrieun Desa Wangunjaya Kecamatan Banjarwangi Kabupaten Garut. Tradisi Rarangkén yang mengandung nilai-nilai luhur, seperti orientasi bersama, kekompakan, solidaritas, dan gotong royong telah menghilang keberadaannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, metode studi fenomenologi dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, studi dokumentasi, dan studi literatur. Menggunakan teori Ferdinand Tonnies mengenai Tipologi masyarakat dan perspektif perubahan sosial budaya (sosiokultural) Pitirim A. Sorokin, penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa kesimpulan: 1) proses dan penyebab hilangnya tradisi Rarangkén, 2) nilai kearifan lokal tradisi Rarangkén, 3) Bentuk modal sosial tradisi Rarangkén, 4) dampak hilangnya tradisi Rarangkén bagi kehidupan masyarakat Kampung Cikantrieun.

Abstract

Some types of traditional games, such as bebentengan, have the same movements as some physical activities commonly carried out by individuals. Several studies on the effect of bebentengan on performance are still limited, so it is necessary to research the impact of bebentengan game treatment on aerobic capacity and agility. The research method used is an experimental method with one group pretest and posttest design without a control group, involving 20 teenagers from Serang City, Banten Province. The results showed that the bebetengan game treatment for three months increased the proportion of aerobic capacity by 5.27% and agility aspects by 3.28%. This study concludes that bebentengan games positively affect aerobic capacity and agility aspects in research subjects and can be used as an alternative to physical activity exercises.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji deskripsi pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis etnik Dayak di Kota Palangka Raya. Berbagai permasalahan melatarbelakangi penelitian ini, seperti masih terjadinya kerusakan hutan atau alam, serta permasalahan ekonomi masyarakat Dayak. Dalam mengkaji permasalahan ini, penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan memperkuat observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis etnik Dayak dapat dilakukan dalam kegiatan penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan seminar. Adapun ketiga kegiatan tersebut yaitu: penyuluhan sebagai upaya penyadaran akan ancaman bahaya kerusakan lingkungan dan penanggulangannya. Mengingat terdapat desa-desa dengan daerah pedesaan yang berpotensi rawan bencana akibat aktivitas masyarakat melakukan penambangan liar dan penggunaan zat berbahaya pada lahan dan sungai. Kemudian pelatihan. Pelatihan berkaitan dengan usaha mengolah kerupuk berbahan dasar sekitar seperti ikan saluang, bayam dan kalakai berupa usaha rumahan yang mendapatkan pembinaan instansi terkait seperti perindustrian. Pelatihan pemberdayaan masyarakat juga dilakukan dengan menanam sengon dalam program sejuta pohon. Menanam sengon sebagai kayu industri  bagi para petani tidak serta merta membuat mereka bisa. Kegiatan kelompok tani juga meliputi kegiatan bercocok tanam. Kemudian pelatihan bercocok tanam yang dilakukan pada lahan berupa pekarangan rumah, juga bagi sebagian masyarakat yang tidak memiliki lahan pekarangan yang luas. Terakhir ialah seminar. Seminar berupa kegiatan seminar kesehatan: bahaya obat terlarang, kesehatan ibu dan anak, gizi keluarga dan toilet bersih. Anggota kelompok tani juga membutuhkan pengetahuan mereka tentang hal membahayakan dirinya maupun anggota keluarganya.

Abstract

This article examines the characteristics and cultural identity, as well as the socio-religious rituals of the people of Serang city. The research used is anthropological ethnography method. In analyzing the data, the researcher used a functional-structural approach. The results showed that although the people in Serang city were categorized as multicultural society, they still carried out their religious traditions. There are several things that affect this harmony, including the factor of religious understanding of each individual, educational background and social relations of the community. For the residents of Serang city, the distinctive characteristics wrapped in tradition have a positive meaning as local wisdom and have religious values ​​that are still maintained today. Keywords: Local Belief, Multicultural, Modern, Tradition .

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the factor that motivates the higher-educated Toba Batak women. The research used a qualitative approach. Purposive sampling was employed to choose the study's participants, who are Toba Batak women from Bandung city with advanced degrees. The study employed guidelines for observation and interviewing as data collecting methods. The data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques used in this study were based on the interview transcripts. The results of this study indicate that the factors that cause Toba Batak women to have higher education include: (1) mindset and value changes, (2) need for time demand, (3) women's choices, and (4) family support.

Abstract

Every teacher has knowledge and understanding of character education, but not all teachers have mastered the methods in shaping children's character. The reason was the weakness of the teacher's creativity in shaping the child's character. The traditional gatrik game can actually be used as a teacher as a medium in shaping children's character. This has been done by the teacher at SDN Jangkar Cilegon. This study aims to describe the efforts to shape children's character with the traditional gatrik game at SDN Jangkar. The study was conducted with a phenomenological type of research with the subjects of the principal, teachers, and students of the Jangkar Elementary School. Data were collected using interviews, observations, and document studies, then data analysis was carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of the study describe that efforts to shape children's character with traditional gatrik games at SDN Jangkar are carried out in three stages. First, introduce the values ​​of kindness through traditional games. Second, to encourage children to realize good values ​​when playing with traditional games. Third, provide instructions for children to display good behavior when playing with traditional gatrik games. In the implementation of the three stages, the teacher not only accompanies and teaches how to play but also becomes a role model for children to do good things when playing with traditional gatrik games.

Abstract

This research reveals how the strategy in cultivating Minangkabau cultural values in the Minang Migrant family in Bandung City. The method used in this study using a literature study that analyzed a variety of studies relevant to the value investment strategy cultural studies Minangkabau. The presentation of the data is carried out using descriptive techniques, namely describing the strategy of cultivating Minangkabau cultural values in Minang nomadic families in Bandung. The results of this study point to the right strategy cultivating cultural values Minangkabau in Minang nomadic families in the city of Bandung, namely: 1) Providing examples and role models from parents; 2) Actuating their wedding ceremony customarily Minang pure; 3) Supporting them participate Minang activities; 4) Performance culture: Minang sing, dance Minang, Silek Minang, traditional food, and traditional clothing Minang; 5) Coming Home West Sumatra within a certain time so that children can see the beauty of the natural beauty and culture of West Sumatra Minangkabau, kampong can see the customs, art, and culture.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the teaching, curriculum, and methods used by teachers in the science learning process for students with special needs in Indonesia. We use qualitative research methods. The subjects in this study are students with special needs (children with visual impairments, children with hearing impairments, children with intellectual disabilities, and children with physical impairments) at one of the special schools (SLB) in Kuningan, Indonesia. The results show that most of the teachers use the curriculum from teacher books provided by the government. In addition, some teachers used the lecture and question and answer method in the science learning process. The results in low student achievement because students with special needs need concrete media and methods that accommodate student needs.

Abstract

Pendidikan sebagai pranata sosial memiliki komponen yang saling berkaitan. Sekolah inklusi sebagai salah satu bentuk pendidikan terpadu perlu untuk dianalisis komponennya agar diketahui optimalisasi penyelenggaraannya. Maka dalam penelitian ini dianalisis pranata pendidikan inklusi dengan mengidentifikasi pelaksanaan lima komponennya berupa tata kelakuan, fungsi sosial, aktor, perilaku berpola, dan sarana prasarana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode fenomenologi dengan teknik wawancara yang diengkapi observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komponen pranata pendidikan terlaksana pada sekolah ini. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, komponen tata kelakuan terlaksana berlandaskan pada sumber norma tertulis dan tidak tertulis tetapi belum terbentuk peraturan khusus yang mengatur perilaku di sekolah inklusi. Fungsi sosial tercermin dalam visi, misi, dan program sekolah. Pemegang peran di sekolah ini adalah pimpinan yayasan, struktural sekolah, guru pembimbing khusus, guru mata pelajaran, siswa, dan orangtua. Namun untuk tim ahli inklusi belum dimiliki sehingga pelaksanaan perannya berbasis pada pengalaman dan analisis internal. Perilaku berpola dari aktor di sekolah ini masih belum optimal dilaksanakan, maka dibutuhkan pembinaan khusus agar masingmasing aktor dapat berperan sesuai fungsinya. Sedangkan dari sarana dan prasarana masih belum optimal tersedia dan pemenuhannya dilakukan secara bertahap. Secara umum komponen tersebut terlaksana, meskipun masih dibutuhkan optimalisasi salah satunya dengan proses pendampingan terutama dari pihak dinas pendidikan.
