Abstract

Media Islamic Math e-Comic is a mathematical comic with Islamic nuances that has mathematical problem solving with clear illustrations and problem-solving methods according to indicators that can improve students' mathematical communication skills. This study aims to determine how much the increase in mathematical communication skills in the use of Islamic Math e-Comic media on the subject of flat side space for class VIII. The media is developed through stages in the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). This type of research is Quasy Experiment by giving pretest and posttest questions on small-scale tests and large-scale tests. Then, the effectiveness test of the use of Islamic Math e-Comic media was carried out using the Effect Size test, obtaining results of 0.53 with the "medium" criteria. This shows an increase in the value obtained by students after using the Islamic Math e-Comic media on the flat side space building material.

Abstract

STEM learning is a process of improving one's mathematical critical thinking skills in the twenty-first century. The study aimed to compare the mathematical skills of critical thinking between genders through STEM learning. The researchers employed the quasi-experiment design with 2 x 2 factorial designs and a simple random sampling technique. The research data were collected using tests to assess students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis tests analysis were performed using two-way ANOVA. The research findings are as follows: (1) there were differences between STEM and conventional learning in mathematical critical thinking skills. STEM learning through technological integration is more effective than conventional learning; (2) there was a difference in the mathematical critical thinking skills results between male and female students, with female students having a higher ability to use critical thinking skills. It is expected that STEM learning can be used as a learning solution in the twenty-first century.

Abstract

Background: Problem-based learning fosters critical thinking by requiring students to analyze information, evaluate solutions, and make well-judged decisions, thereby enhancing their problem-solving skills.Aim: The study aims to assess the impact of the RICOSRE learning model, which is based on socioscientific issues, on students' problem-solving and collaboration skills.Method: Quasi-experimental research was used in this research involving students in classes XI MIPA 2 and XI MIPA 3. Purposive random sampling was used to select participants. Data were collected using test and non-test instruments: essay questions assessed problem solving skills, while questionnaires measured collaboration skills. Hypothesis testing was carried out using Multivariate of Variance (MANOVA).Results: The RICOSRE learning model based on socioscientific issues can influence the problem-solving ability and collaboration skills of students, as evidenced by the MANOVA test's significant value (0.000). It was also observed that students with higher levels of collaboration tend to have stronger problem-solving capabilities, suggesting a proportional relationship between these two skills. Notably, students in the experimental class who exhibited outstanding collaborative abilities also showed a high problem-solving rate of 80.67 percent. Conclusion: The study concludes that the RICOSRE learning model, when combined with the Discovery Learning model and a scientific approach, positively influences students' problem-solving and collaboration skills. This model provides an effective learning strategy, enhancing students' ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, thereby making learning more engaging and relevant. Additionally, it prepares students for teamwork, improving their communication and interpersonal skills.

Abstract

The implementation of this study aims to ensure the effectiveness of the Integrating Society, Science, Environment, Technology, and Collaborative Mind Mapping (ISSETCM2) learning model on mathematical literacy skills in terms of adversity quotient (AQ). This research design is quasi-experimental, with the population being all eighth-grade students in the academic year 2021/2022. The research sample was selected by cluster random. The average value of the mathematical literacy ability of the experimental class students is 72.03, and that of the control class is 50.34. Based on data interpretation and analysis of variance (ANOVA) of two-path unequal cells with a significant value of . The value of Sig is 0.001, so Sig . Based on the data, there are differences in the results of mathematical literacy skills between the learning model (ISSETCM2) and direct instruction learning models. Also, there are differences in adversity quotient categories (climbers, campers, and quitters) on mathematical literacy abilities. There is no interaction between learning model factors and adversity quotient on the results of students' mathematical literacy abilities. From these data, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the ISSETCM2 learning model on mathematical literacy skills in terms of the adversity quotient of class VIII. The research results show that each student has a different adversity quotient, which can affect students' mathematical reasoning abilities. For this reason, students need to know the adversity quotient to maximize their abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach on numeracy literacy and mathematical representation abilities as viewed from students’ curiosity. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a 2×2 factorial design. The population is class VII students of SMPN 1 Buay Madang, with samples selected using random sampling techniques. The instruments used are numeracy literacy tests, mathematical representation tests, and a curiosity questionnaire. Data analysis used two-way MANOVA. The results showed that the PMRI approach had a significant effect on students' numeracy literacy and mathematical representation abilities. Students' curiosity also affected both abilities. Furthermore, the interaction between PMRI and curiosity positively influenced students' abilities. These findings suggest that contextual learning through PMRI combined with high student curiosity improves students' mathematical understanding and skills. Therefore, it is recommended for mathematics educators to apply realistic and curiosity-stimulating learning approaches in the classroom.
