The low learning outcomes of students are caused by several problems encountered during the learning process, such as IPA learning process still used teacher centered and lecturing methode. The result of student learning competence still low result and the teacher hasnât yet used learning models can make student will be active. One effort was made to improve students learning competence by applying problem solving learning models. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of problem solving, learning model to the students learning competence SMP 13 Padang. This study is an experimental research using the design of The Static Group Comparison. The study population is all students of Class VIII  SMPN 13 Padang. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The control class uses the learning model commonly used in the classroom IE discovery learning model and experimental class using a problem solving learning model. The research instrument used is a test of learning result and affective and skill assessment in the form of observation sheet. Data were analyzed using t-test for knowledge, competence because the data were normally distributed and homogeneously. Data were analyzed using up-test for affective and skill competence.Result of hypothesis test in both classes of sample, found that class which uses problem solving, learning model have positive effect of student learning competence of Class VIII 6 SMPN 13 Padang such as knowledge, affective and skill competence

The research was due to Indonesian students’ literacy in mathematics was unsatisfying according to Programme for International Student Assessment. The aim of this research was to gain needs and context analysis, and literature review which based on the prominence to develop a learning model. This research belonged to descriptive study. Based on data analyzed, the findings revealed that 1.The average value of students' mathematical literacy was 31.87 be classified into low category; 2.The assessment instruments was far from the mathematical literacy; 3.The realistic mathematics education approach ever developed by the researcher in learning mathematics had not been combined with the concept of literacy; 4.The teachers needed the learning models that could improve students' mathematical literacy; 5.The students wanted contextual learning, 6) most students liked reading with audio learning styles; 7.The curriculum content which had to appropriate with the development of this model was the Linear Equation System of Two Variable; 8.The main concept was the general form of Linear Equation System of Two Variables, solution with graph, substitution and elimination. Based on these findings, the researcher needed to develop mathematics learning model based on realistic mathematical education and literacy in junior high school.

Abstrak Proses pembelajaran merupakan suatu upaya untuk menyampaikan informasi sebagai materi ajar dari guru kepada siswa. Tapi kadang komunikasi tersebut mengalami gangguan, jadi guru harus mengorganisasikan materi ajar kepada satu bentuk bahan ajar. Bahan ajar tersebut haruslah memahami perbedaan kecepatan belajar masing-masing siswa. Bahan ajar tersebut adalah modul. Pembelajaran biologi membutuhkan visualisasi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa. Pemahaman tersebut akan lebih bermanfaat jika siswa membangun sendiri konsep mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membuat modul yang akan membantu proses belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran biologi SMA, dengan menggunakan metode pengembangan IDI. Prosedurnya adalah mendefinisikan, mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi. Penelitian pengembangan ini menghasilkan modul bergambar disertai LKS berorientasi konstruktivistik pada materi sistem peredaran darah kelas XI IPA Sekolah Menengah Atas yang valid, praktis dan efektif. Kata kunci: Modul, gambar, konstruktivistik Abstract Learning is communication process to pass on information as material of study by teacher to student. But that communication process experiences interference, so teacher must to organize study material into one material teaches. Material teaches that is made must understands distinctive speed studies each student. That is module. Learning biology need to visualisation for over increase student grasp to tutorial material. That grasp will more wherewith if student build their own concept. This researchâ€™s goal is to made a module to help students learning process in biology high school, with IDI method. Procedure is define, develop and evaluate. Subject jigsaw has been identified as one of alternative model to teach difficult materials such as embryology. This study aimed to analyze the impact of the subject jigsaw model on students? achievement. This quasi-experimental study employed post-test only control group design. As many as 84 students from the fifth semester in Biology Department of IAIN Batusangkar were involved as the sample. They were grouped in three classes which were taught using subject jigsaw model, jigsaw model, and conventional (control). The instruments were observation sheet and test. The cooperative skills and student learning outcome data were analyzed using ANOVA and least significance difference (LSD). The results showed that cooperative skills of students, at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, who learn with subject jigsaw are higher than those learning with successive Jigsaw of 3.10, 3.21, and 2.99. Furthermore, the students? learning outcomes, who taught with subject jigsaw were significantly different from other treatments (F = 28.590; p-value < 0.05). Based on the LSD results showed that the students achievement on subject jigsaw model was better than the others. Thus, subject jigsaw model is recommended to implement in embryology course.

Biology is a subject directly related to everyday life and requires an understanding of the concept. Therefore, the learning process requires a biological approaches, strategies, methods, and media-related learning with the real world so that students can understand the concepts and learning becomes more meaningful. One of the learning strategies that can help the understanding of the concept as well as activities to direct and stimulate students' thinking is through the use of learning modules accompanied concept map. The aims of this research is to develop a module oriented science technology society on the topic of biotechnology. This Biology Module developed using 4-D models. The results shows that, the modules are very valid with a value of 81.09%. The value of practicalities by teachers are 82.7%, and the value of practicalities by students are 85.5%. The effectiveness of the module can be seen from the motivation of students, activities, and student learning outcomes. It is concluded that the biology module oriented science technology society (STS) accompanied concept map on the topic of biotechnology for junior high school was valid, practical, and effective.

This research was aimed at explaining the difference between learning achievement of the students taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map worksheet and those taught by using conventional method viewed from previous knowledge in class X of MAN 3 Kerinci. This was a quasi experimental. The population of the research was the students in class X of MAN 3 Kerinci registered in Academic Year 2012/2013. They were distributed into three classes XA, XB and XC. This research applied factorial block 2x2 design. Based on the result of the research, it was found that the Biology learning achievement of the students taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional method. It could be seen from the studentsâ€™ average score in the experimental class which was 74,28, and in the control class which was 61,97. Learning achievement of the students having high previous knowledge taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional methodÂ in which the average score of the students in the experimental class was 80,41 and in the control class was 67,81. Learning achievement of the students having low previous knowledge taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional method in which the average score of the students in the experimental class was 67,14 and in the control class was 54,02. There is no interaction between TPS type of cooperative learning that includes Mind Map type of LKS to the Biology studentâ€™s learning outcomes.

Discovery process (scientific work) in biology learning in the form of lab activity is necessary to strengthen the studentâ€™s understanding of concepts. This study aims to determine the quality of the biology lab activities (planning, implementation process and evaluation), problems of biology lab activity and causes of failure in biology lab activities class X and XI SMAN 10 Padang in second semesterÂ academic year 2012/2013. This research is a descriptive study combining data collection techniques quantitatively and qualitatively. Data of planning obtained from lesson plan (RPP) assessment sheet and interview guide. Data of implementation process obtained from the observation sheet, record product and field notes. Data of practicum evaluation obtained from the interview guide. Data of practicum problems which includes problems faced by teacher obtained from the teacher questionnaire and interview guide, the problems faced by students obtained from student questionnaire and interview guide and the problems. Causes of failure in lab activities data obtained from the interview guide. Based on this research can be concluded about the quality of planning, categorized as medium in terms of suitability of lesson plan with School Based Curricullum, there are teachers who did not prepare lesson plan and practicum guide and did not plan practicum in accordance with the demands of School Based Curricullum. Implementation process on teacher performance aspects categorized as medium, on student activities categorized as good and readiness of facilities and infrastructure aspects categorized as very good. Practicum evaluation is not based on School Based Curricullum. In doing practicum, biology teachers less constrained at planning, quite constrained at the practicum process and evaluation, while students who followed the practicum is quite constrained in the planning, practicum process and evaluation of the practicum. Cause of failure in lab activities is lack of ability in allocating the time to do practicum in accordance with the demands of School Based Curricullum.

The low value of the students in the subjects of biology at Madrasah Aliyah Sumpur seen some of the factors that affect the learning outcomes one of which is the learning process. The learning process is one of the critical success factors in learning. To obtain a good learning must be supported by a good learning process and effective. In addition, the learning often occurs in terms of issues such as teachers, students, facilities, and infrastructure. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data validity checking technique used is the technique of triangulation. The data were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of analysis of the learning process can be concluded as follows (1) Planning Learning in terms of the format is in accordance with aspects of assessment in the IPKG-1. Based on the study of documentation in terms of content, learning Implementation Plan (RPP) is not in accordance with the syllabus (2) The general teaching is in conformity with the appraisal aspect IPKG-2 (3) assessment / evaluation of learning is done in the capture of the cognitive aspects of the value daily tests. Affective and psychomotor assessments taken from the attitude and skills of the student assessment for learning (4) learning problems that occur specifically in learning biological medium category (2.23). The problem there in terms of teachers, students, facilities and infrastructure.

The biology learning process in class VIII.3 of MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang was still teacher-centered learning. The learning methods which were used less varied, it made the students got low activities and competence in learning. The were still many students not active, who were reluctant to ask questions and always wait for direction by teacher. This research was designed for improving the studentâ€™s activities and biology learning competence through approachment contextual based lesson study. This was a classroom action research. This was conducted in two cycles in which each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research was the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang. The instruments of the research were observation sheet, a result of learning test and range of notation. The data was collected through observation and a learning achievement test. The data obtained then was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of data analysis cycle I and cycle II shows the increase in student learning activity and competence. Learning activities of students increase from 45,70% to 64,67%. Cognitive learning outcomes of students in cycle I and cycle II also increase from 71,79% to 89,7%. Affective learning outcomes of students from 54,7% to 67,14% andÂ psychomotor learning outcomes of students from 73,40% to 76,49%. The teacherâ€™s activities improved from 79,45% to 93,31%. In general, it was concluded that employing the approachment contextual based lesson study in biology learning could improve the learning activities and learning competence of the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya.
