Biology is a subject directly related to everyday life and requires an understanding of the concept. Therefore, the learning process requires a biological approaches, strategies, methods, and media-related learning with the real world so that students can understand the concepts and learning becomes more meaningful. One of the learning strategies that can help the understanding of the concept as well as activities to direct and stimulate students' thinking is through the use of learning modules accompanied concept map. The aims of this research is to develop a module oriented science technology society on the topic of biotechnology. This Biology Module developed using 4-D models. The results shows that, the modules are very valid with a value of 81.09%. The value of practicalities by teachers are 82.7%, and the value of practicalities by students are 85.5%. The effectiveness of the module can be seen from the motivation of students, activities, and student learning outcomes. It is concluded that the biology module oriented science technology society (STS) accompanied concept map on the topic of biotechnology for junior high school was valid, practical, and effective.

This research was aimed at explaining the difference between learning achievement of the students taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map worksheet and those taught by using conventional method viewed from previous knowledge in class X of MAN 3 Kerinci. This was a quasi experimental. The population of the research was the students in class X of MAN 3 Kerinci registered in Academic Year 2012/2013. They were distributed into three classes XA, XB and XC. This research applied factorial block 2x2 design. Based on the result of the research, it was found that the Biology learning achievement of the students taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional method. It could be seen from the studentsâ€™ average score in the experimental class which was 74,28, and in the control class which was 61,97. Learning achievement of the students having high previous knowledge taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional methodÂ in which the average score of the students in the experimental class was 80,41 and in the control class was 67,81. Learning achievement of the students having low previous knowledge taught by using TPS cooperative model assisted with Mind Map Worksheet was better than that of students taught by using conventional method in which the average score of the students in the experimental class was 67,14 and in the control class was 54,02. There is no interaction between TPS type of cooperative learning that includes Mind Map type of LKS to the Biology studentâ€™s learning outcomes.

Discovery process (scientific work) in biology learning in the form of lab activity is necessary to strengthen the studentâ€™s understanding of concepts. This study aims to determine the quality of the biology lab activities (planning, implementation process and evaluation), problems of biology lab activity and causes of failure in biology lab activities class X and XI SMAN 10 Padang in second semesterÂ academic year 2012/2013. This research is a descriptive study combining data collection techniques quantitatively and qualitatively. Data of planning obtained from lesson plan (RPP) assessment sheet and interview guide. Data of implementation process obtained from the observation sheet, record product and field notes. Data of practicum evaluation obtained from the interview guide. Data of practicum problems which includes problems faced by teacher obtained from the teacher questionnaire and interview guide, the problems faced by students obtained from student questionnaire and interview guide and the problems. Causes of failure in lab activities data obtained from the interview guide. Based on this research can be concluded about the quality of planning, categorized as medium in terms of suitability of lesson plan with School Based Curricullum, there are teachers who did not prepare lesson plan and practicum guide and did not plan practicum in accordance with the demands of School Based Curricullum. Implementation process on teacher performance aspects categorized as medium, on student activities categorized as good and readiness of facilities and infrastructure aspects categorized as very good. Practicum evaluation is not based on School Based Curricullum. In doing practicum, biology teachers less constrained at planning, quite constrained at the practicum process and evaluation, while students who followed the practicum is quite constrained in the planning, practicum process and evaluation of the practicum. Cause of failure in lab activities is lack of ability in allocating the time to do practicum in accordance with the demands of School Based Curricullum.

The low value of the students in the subjects of biology at Madrasah Aliyah Sumpur seen some of the factors that affect the learning outcomes one of which is the learning process. The learning process is one of the critical success factors in learning. To obtain a good learning must be supported by a good learning process and effective. In addition, the learning often occurs in terms of issues such as teachers, students, facilities, and infrastructure. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data validity checking technique used is the technique of triangulation. The data were analyzed qualitatively. Based on the results of analysis of the learning process can be concluded as follows (1) Planning Learning in terms of the format is in accordance with aspects of assessment in the IPKG-1. Based on the study of documentation in terms of content, learning Implementation Plan (RPP) is not in accordance with the syllabus (2) The general teaching is in conformity with the appraisal aspect IPKG-2 (3) assessment / evaluation of learning is done in the capture of the cognitive aspects of the value daily tests. Affective and psychomotor assessments taken from the attitude and skills of the student assessment for learning (4) learning problems that occur specifically in learning biological medium category (2.23). The problem there in terms of teachers, students, facilities and infrastructure.

The biology learning process in class VIII.3 of MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang was still teacher-centered learning. The learning methods which were used less varied, it made the students got low activities and competence in learning. The were still many students not active, who were reluctant to ask questions and always wait for direction by teacher. This research was designed for improving the studentâ€™s activities and biology learning competence through approachment contextual based lesson study. This was a classroom action research. This was conducted in two cycles in which each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The subject of the research was the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya Padang. The instruments of the research were observation sheet, a result of learning test and range of notation. The data was collected through observation and a learning achievement test. The data obtained then was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The result of data analysis cycle I and cycle II shows the increase in student learning activity and competence. Learning activities of students increase from 45,70% to 64,67%. Cognitive learning outcomes of students in cycle I and cycle II also increase from 71,79% to 89,7%. Affective learning outcomes of students from 54,7% to 67,14% andÂ psychomotor learning outcomes of students from 73,40% to 76,49%. The teacherâ€™s activities improved from 79,45% to 93,31%. In general, it was concluded that employing the approachment contextual based lesson study in biology learning could improve the learning activities and learning competence of the students in class VIII.3 MTsN Lubuk Buaya.

Animal development is one of subject that difficult for students to understanding, because the material full of process. The process canâ€™t be visualized. The lecture difficult to describe of gastrulation and the media to visualize the gastrulation are not available. Therefore, is important to produce media that will be used to visualize gastrulation processÂ and make students understanding. The purpose of this research is to produce interactive media in gastrulation material andÂ that media is valid, practical, and effective. This was a developmental research with a procedural model. ModelsÂ and procedure of development was developed with 4-D model (four-D model), which stands of 4 phases that is define, design, develop and disseminate. Define phase analized curriculum and student. Design phase made interactive media. Develop phase to validated and test-driving cofines to student at State University of Padang, to know practicalities and effectiveness of interactive media. Disseminate phase is conducted with separated media unlimited. The interactive media just given to students at State University of Padang.Â Data obtained to determinine interactive media derived from validation sheet. The data required to determine practicality was obtained from questionnaire of lectures and students. Effectiveness data it was obtained from activity andÂ mark of student. Average validity of interactive media was 3,96. PracticalitiesÂ by lectures was 80 and practicality by student was 97,12. Effectiveness ofÂ interactive mediaÂ that seen from activity and their learning achievement, showed that it was effective. The result of the observation showed that interactive mediaÂ valid, practical and effective. Based on the results, this research can be concluded that the Develop of interactive media based on constructivism of gastrulation material in animal development Â subject is valid, practical and effective. Â

One of the reasons for low success in studies is the variation in the teaching methods and few teaching materials, especially ecosystem matter, thus producing poorly motivated students with low esteem to learn on their own depending on individual ability. The purpose of this research was to develop a Biology learning module containing case study on Ecosystem topics for the first year students of Senior High School which was valid, practical and effective This was a developmental research which used Plom model that consisted of three phases including 1) preliminary investigation phase, 2) planning and realization phase, and 3) try-out and evaluation phase. In the initial investigation phase, an interview and observation were done to identify the problems in learning. Further, analysis of curriculum, analysis of students and analysis of learning sources were conducted. In the planning and realization phase, the module was designed and it then was validated by experts (lecturers and teachers).Â The practicability was measured by filling in the practicality questionnaire which was done by the teacher and the students. The effectiveness of the module developed was seen through observation and the studentsâ€™ learning achievement. The studentsâ€™ achievement in learning was seen through daily tests. The data gotten was analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that the developed module is valid from didactic, structural, and technical aspects. From the practicability stage, it was found out that the module is practical. The use of the module can make a student active in learning with a high percentage passing the school-set minimum grade (KKM), whereby 90% of students at SMAN 10, Tebo district scoring â‰¥ 78 with 93% of their counterparts at SMAN 8, Tebo district scoring â‰¥ 75. It can, therefore, be concluded that the developed Biology learning module containing case studies on Ecosystem topics for the First Year students of Senior High School had been valid, practical and effective to be used as the learning materials.

This article was written to determine the contribution of the teacher's teaching style on learning outcomes of students of biology, contributes to the teacher communication in the learning outcomes of students of biology, contribution to the teacher interaction in the learning outcomes of students of biology, contribution of teaching styles, communication and interaction of the teacher in the learning outcomes of students learning biology class XII Science High School in West Pasaman academic year 2013/2014. Data were analyzed manually, by trimming path model analysis. Individually testing each variable obtained t count> t table. That is, there is the contribution of each independent variable on the learning outcomes of students of class XII science biology high school in West Pasaman. Obtained simultaneous testing of Fcount> Ftable. That is, there is a contribution of teaching styles, communication, and interaction of the teacher in the learning outcomes of students learning biology class XII Senior High School in West Pasaman.

Biology is one of the subjects related with natural science. In the subject of this biology, there are important concepts that must students to know. However, not all the materials can be understood by students. So to help them needed media to learning, such as module that could help improving their activities and student learning outcomes, The fact in SMA Negeri 1 Bukit Sundi Kabupaten Solok. Â Based on this problem, this research aim to developÂ valid, practical, and effective of module with mind map in the biology learning based on Quantum Teaching. This module is developed with 4-D models. Based on the research result, known that the learning module with obtaining an average 88,40 % is very valid category. The practicalities of module by teachers obtaining an averageÂ 90,73% is very practical category. The practicalities of module by student obtaining an average 83,20% is very practical category. Effectiveness of the module could be seen from the learning student activities, and student learning outcomes consisting of the result of cognitive and affective learning that showed mastery exceed the minimum mastery criteria, This researchÂ can be concluded that the module with Peta pikiran in the biology learning based on Quantum Teaching on respiratory system and excretionÂ for grade XI student in Senior High School is valid, practical, and effective.

The approach of this research called classroom action research. The subject of the research were the students of MTsN Bonjol class VIII4. This research aimed to describe the process of improving student learning activities and competencies used a contextual approach which is accompanied by worksheets on subjects MTsN Bonjol VIII4 biology class. This research used a qualitative approach supported quantitative approach. Data were obtained in the form of qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected through observation, field notes, and interviews. Quantitative data was obtained through cognitive tests, observation activity, affective and psychomotor competencies. The study findings suggest that the used of contextual approach accompanied worksheets accompanied can improved student learning activities and competencies. The increase was seen in each aspect of the learning activity, affective and psychomotor competencies ranging from pre cycle, the first cycle and second cycle. The increase was also seen in the results of the exam pre cycle is 48, in the first cycle 58.6, and 82.8 in the second cycle. Based on results of research, can concluded the used of contextual approach accompanied worksheets accompanied can improve student learning activities and competencies on subjects MTsN Bonjol VIII4 biology class.
