Abstract

Abstract

Dengue Fever (DF) remains a major public health challenge in many tropical regions, including South Sulawesi, Indonesia, where increasing case numbers highlight the urgent need for more effective disease control strategies. Traditional approaches that rely solely on medical treatment and vector suppression have shown limited long-term success, thus necessitating complementary preventive interventions such as health education. This study develops a deterministic SIRS host–vector mathematical model to analyse the epidemiological dynamics of DF transmission and to quantify the impact of educational intervention on reducing disease spread. The model incorporates human susceptibility, infection, temporary immunity, mosquito–human transmission mechanisms, and an education parameter that represents the rate at which susceptible individuals become effectively protected. Stability analysis is conducted to determine the conditions for disease persistence or elimination, and the basic reproduction number is derived using the next-generation matrix method. Numerical simulations are performed using biologically realistic parameter values for South Sulawesi. The results show that when , both human and vector infections converge to endemic equilibrium levels, consistent with the theoretical analysis. However, increasing the education-related protection parameter significantly reduces infection prevalence and can bring below unity, leading to disease eradication. The findings demonstrate that educational interventions play a critical role in reducing transmission intensity and complementing vector control measures. This study provides a mathematical foundation for evaluating community-based education as a sustainable component of DF prevention, offering valuable insights for public health policy in dengue-endemic regions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of arrowroot flour (Maranta arundinacea L.) substitution on the physical properties and sensory quality of peanut rempeyek. The research was conducted at the Food Processing Laboratory, Culinary Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, from April 2025 to October 2025. The method used in this study was an experimental method. The research samples were peanut rempeyek with arrowroot flour substitution at levels of 20%, 35%, and 50%. The physical test included oil absorption measurement using oil paper, carried out in three replications for each sample. The hypothesis testing for physical properties was analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test. The results showed that arrowroot flour substitution at 20%, 35%, and 50% significantly affected oil absorption, with the lowest oil absorption found in the 50% substitution treatment. The sensory evaluation was conducted with 45 semi-trained panelists. Based on the Kruskal-Wallis test, the results indicated that arrowroot flour substitution at 20%, 35%, and 50% did not significantly affect the sensory attributes of peanut rempeyek across all evaluated aspects. Sensory quality assessment revealed that all three products had comparable quality. The conclusion of this study is that the 50% substitution sample was the best treatment in terms of oil absorption. Therefore, peanut rempeyek with 50% arrowroot flour substitution is recommended to optimize the utilization of arrowroot flour as an alternative to rice flour.

Abstract

Batik wastewater contains high concentrations of synthetic dyes, significantly contributing to aquatic pollution. Photocatalysis is a promising method for degrading such dyes in textile effluents. This study aims to develop rGO/ZnO composites using zinc (Zn) powder as a precursor for photocatalytic applications. Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was used as a substrate for ZnO particle formation. The composites were prepared by reacting Zn powder with rGO at varying loadings (5% and 10% by mass) in a neutral aqueous solution, followed by thermal treatment at 250 °C for 1 hour to facilitate Zn oxidation. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated by applying different masses of rGO/ZnO (0.2, 0.4, and 0.8 g) to degrade batik wastewater. Surface morphology and elemental composition were characterized using SEM-EDS. SEM analysis showed that rGO has a sheet-like structure, while ZnO exhibits spherical morphology. EDS confirmed the presence of Zn, C, and O as major elements with Nb impurity was identified in the composite. The carbon-to-oxygen (C/O) ratio increased after composite formation, reaching 4.23 for rGO/ZnO 5% and 3.79 for rGO/ZnO 10%. XRD characterization of rGO/ZnO confirms the presence of ZnO in the composite, with residual Zn peaks indicating incomplete oxidation of the Zn precursor. Photocatalytic activities modeled using pseudo-first-order kinetics reveal the 10% rGO/ZnO composite (0.8 g) shows the degradation efficiency of 67.91%, with a rate constant of 0.1623 h⁻¹. The efficiency may be affected by the complex nature of batik wastewater, particularly wax and resin residues that hinder photocatalytic activity. In conclusion, these findings highlight the potential of Zn powder as a precursor in the synthesis of rGO/ZnO composites with concentration of rGO and the mass variation of rGO/ZnO in the treatment of Batik wastewater affect the photocatalytic activity.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The existence of a dual banking system in Indonesia demands legal certainty in the resolution of Islamic economic disputes. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of judicial authority following the Constitutional Court Decision Number 93/PUU-X/2012 and to compare the efficiency of dispute resolution mechanisms through litigation and non-litigation channels. The study finds that the Constitutional Court's decision has ended jurisdictional dualism by affirming the absolute competence of the Religious Courts, which are now supported by the Small Claim Court mechanism to accelerate case resolution to a maximum of 25 working days. On the other hand, non-litigation channels have undergone transformation with the establishment of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institution for the Financial Services Sector (LAPS SJK), which provides low-cost mediation services for retail consumers, complementing the role of the National Sharia Arbitration Board (BASYARNAS) which focuses on commercial disputes. This research concludes that the choice of dispute resolution forum is no longer based on jurisdictional doubt, but rather on strategic considerations regarding time efficiency, cost, and the need for Sharia scientific specialization.
