Abstract

Abstract:This study aims: (1) to produce a character-based reflective picture storybook which is feasible to improve social self-concept and (2) to reveal the effectiveness of the media in improving the social self-concept. This study adopted RD design by Borg Gall. The subjects were the fifth-graders in Bantul District. The data collection techniques were interviewquestionnaire, self-report, scale, andobservation. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, manova, and t-test. The results of the study show that: (1) the media has passed the criteria of feasibility based on expert validation result, teacher’s and student’s response scale (very good); (2) the media is effective to improve social self-concept based on t-test result with significance level Keywords:character-based reflective picture storybook, social self-concept MEDIA REFLECTIVE PICTURE STORYBOOK BERBASIS NILAI-NILAI KARAKTER: UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KONSEP DIRI SOSIALSISWA SD Abstrak: Penelitian bertujuan: 1) menghasilkan media reflective picture storybookberbasis nilai-nilai karakter yang layak untuk meningkatkan konsep diri sosial siswa, dan 2) mengetahui keefektifan media dalam meningkatkan konsep diri sosial siswa. Metode penelitian menggunakan RD yang mengacu pada 10 langkah pengembangan Borg Gall.Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas V SD se-Kabupaten Bantul.Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, self-report, skala, dan observasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif, manova, dan uji t.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) media yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kriteria kelayakan berdasarkan validasi ahli media dan ahli materi, serta respons guru dan siswa dengan kategori sangat baik; 2) media yang dikembangkan efektif untuk meningkatkan konsep diri sosial siswa. Konsep diri sosial meningkat secara signifikan berdasarkan uji t pada taraf signifikansi 0.05, yang hasilnya 0.000 α = 0.05). Melalui media yang dikembangkan, siswa dapat menginternalisasi nilai-nilai karakter dengan menyenangkan dan menambah wawasan berinteraksi dengan orang lain. Abstract

Teacher’s self-efficacy can be varied according to experience gained, experience obtained from other people, social influences, and also physical and psychological welfare. In the context of teacher’s efficacy in Indonesia and Malaysia, those are certain become different because it undergoes differently. The aim of the research is to convey the difference between teachers in Malaysia and Indonesia from the perspective of a teacher's efficacy in teaching. This research is a comparative study. The research subjects were elementary school teachers who were continuing their studies in post graduate programs at Yogyakarta State University and Sultan Idris University of Education. They are given a scale of teacher efficacy in teaching consisting of three sub-scale that is teacher’s efficacy in involving students in learning, executing learning process, and class management. Research result shows that actually, in general, there are no significant differences in teacher efficacy in teaching between teachers in Malaysia and Indonesia. However, if differences are seen from each factor, it appears that there are differences in the efficacy of teachers in involving students in learning, while the efficacy in instructional learning strategies, and efficacy in classroom management, there are still no significant differences.

Abstract

Abstract: The National Indonesian Ministry of Education expresses the importance of educating friendliness by stating it in a Master Plan of National Character Development for 2010-2015. However the success of character education needs a meaningful classroom situation. Unfortunately, teaching materials to create meaningful classroom situation that enhances friendliness character is still  rare. Sainsmatika fairytale books are science and mathematic’s teaching material which was developed with the wisdom of fairytale, which is attractive to integrate friendliness value. The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of sainsmatika fairytale books as a means of integrating friendliness  into teaching materials for fourth-grade students in Indonesia. A pretest-posttest control-group experimental design was used in this study to investigate the product effectiveness. This study involved 80 fourth-grade students at one of the districts in Indonesia. The experimental group was taught using sainsmatika fairytale books containing one of the character values in character education, i.e., friendliness. The quantitative data were collected through observation on student activity. The data were then analyzed using statistical methods to calculate the values and determine the frequency as well as the mean of pretest and posttest scores in both control and experimental groups. Through one way ANOVA statistical analysis, it was found that the use of sainsmatika fairytale books is significantly effective to enhance the student friendliness.Kata Kunci: fairy stories, sainsmatika, friendliness character Integrasi Cerita Dongeng untuk Pembelajaran BermaknaAbstrak: Kementerian Pendidikan Nasional Indonesia mengekspresikan pentingnya mengajarkan karakter bersahabat dengan memasukkannya ke dalam Master Plan Pengembangan Karakter Nasional 2010-2015. Keberhasilan pendidikan karakter mebutuhkan situasi pembelajaran yang bermakna. Bahan ajar untuk menciptakan situasi pembelajaran bermakna yang dapat meningkatkan karakter bersahabat masih kurang. Buku dongeng sainsmatika adalah bahan ajar sains dan matematika yang dikembangkan dengan pendekatan kearifan dongeng yang menarik untuk diintegrasikan dengan nilai karakter bersahabat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui keefektifan buku dongeng sainsmatika sebagai bahan ajar terhadap karakter bersahabat siswa.  Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan experimental pretest-posttest control-group design. Sebanyak 80 siswa kelas 4 sekolah dasar di salah satu provinsi di Indonesia dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Setiap kelas eksperimen belajar menggunakan buku dongeng sainsmatika. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan teknik observasi dan dianalisis dengan teknik statistik anova untuk menghitung frekuensi dan rata-rata hitung pretes dan postes baik kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan buku dongeng sainsmatika mampu meningkatkan karakter bersahabat siswa secara signifikan.Keywords: dongeng, sainsmatika, karakter bersahabat

Abstract

Early reading is an essential skill that is needed to be accelerated through application-based media. This study aims to develop Pancalis as a medium for the online teaching of early reading. This study used the Research and Development (RD) approach using the ADDIE model. The subjects were two experts as well as 18 teachers and five students of elementary schools. They were established using the purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used questionnaires and scales. The data analysis used descriptive statistics. The results show that: 1) at the analysis stage through literature study, it can be concluded that Pancalis as an Android-based application is an alternative learning media for the teaching of early-reading; while the result of field study shows teachers and students need learning media for early reading that can accommodate distance learning; 2) at the design stage, the Pancalis as an Android-based application for early-reading has been produced; 3) while at the end of the development stage, an assessment was carried out through an expert validation scale and it was found that the Pancalis is very suitable for the teaching of early-reading; while the practicality response questionnaire of teachers and students shows that Pancalis is very practical to use.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sejauh mana keterlaksanaan peran komite sekolah ditinjau dari peningkatan mutu pembelajaran di Sekolah Dasar se-Kabupaten Bantul. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian evaluative dengan pendekatan evaluasi model Stake (Stake’s Countenance Model). Hasil observasi terhadap proses keterlaksaan peran Komite Sekolah yang terjadi di lapangan dibandingkan dengan standar yang seharusnya sebagai kriteria untuk menentukan keberhasilan. Subjek penelitian adalah komite sekolah, kepala sekolah, dan guru SD di Kabupaten Bantul. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Tahap antecedent (input dan perencanaan) pemahaman responden terhadap rancangan program implementasi peran Komite Sekolah belum sepenuhnya sesuai standar dan berkategori cukup dengan persentase 36%. (2) Tahap transaction terhadap implementasi program komite sekolah telah terlaksana dengan kategori baik dengan persentase 58%. (3) Tahap outcomes yaitu evaluasi terhadap implementasi peran Komite Sekolah terhadap tahap antecedent dan transaction masuk kategori cukup dengan persentase 47%. Implementasi peran program komite sekolah di SD Kabupaten Bantul belum memenuhi standar 100%. Oleh karena itu, hasil temuan dari penelitian ini diharapkan bisa dijadikan bahan untuk meningkatkan kinerja dari semua pihak. Kata kunci: Peran komite sekolah, Mutu pembelajaran
