Abstract

The present study examines the recovery progress that has been achieved so far a decade after the tsunami disaster occurred in Banda Aceh city of Indonesia. Assessment of the recovery progress for several activities at the local context associated with the long-term disaster recovery phase include the hazard source control and area protection, land-use practices, mental health recovery, and economic development were conducted to identify windows of opportunities in different sectors to build back better. The findings subsequently situated within the framework of global context, by setting up a global framework linking the common targets between the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Among investigated sectors, the hazard source control, area protection and land-use practices seemed to miss the opportunity of changing the coastal areas to become more resilient to tsunami disaster, due to unsynchronized city masterplan with housing development towards the coastline. While this practice rather discouraging for promoting the idea of build back better, the other sectors such as community economic revitalization and mental health programs were rather successful in seizing the opportunities at different levels. It requires high commitment from different actors during the recovery to identify and grab the opportunities at the earliest phase of the recovery and to be able to coordinate and formulate the appropriate recovery programs that linked to the targets for sustainable development in the global context.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mineral content, phenolic content, antioxidant activity, and soluble protein of Lumi-lumi fish meal (Harpodon nehereus) treated with and non-steamed for 30 min. The results revealed that iron (Fe) mineral content was significantly higher in the steamed than non-steamed treatment but not in calcium (Ca). However, there was a decrease in the minerals magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), and zinc (Zn) during the steamed process, which was not significant. Then, during steamed, there was a significant decrease in antioxidant activity but not in total soluble protein, whereas phenolic content increased. Based on the findings of this study, Lumi-lumi fish (Harpodon nehereus) meal steamed treatment could be the best treatment because it contained the best phenolic and Fe and Ca minerals.

Abstract

This study examines the role of performance management systems (PMS) in enhancing corporate financial performance. The primary focus is how effectively PMS can align employee efforts with organizational goals and its impact on economic outcomes such as ROI and profit margins. This research employs a qualitative approach with case studies of technology and financial services companies. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and analysis of company documents. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of PMS implementation and the contextual factors influencing it. The findings indicate that precise goal setting, continuous feedback, and fair performance evaluations are critical components of effective PMS. Contextual factors such as leadership commitment and supportive organizational culture also play a crucial role. Integrating advanced technologies like AI and data analytics significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of performance management processes, leading to enhanced financial performance. This study significantly contributes to the performance management field by highlighting technology's importance in optimizing PMS. Business practitioners can use these findings to improve the effectiveness of PMS in their organizations. Additionally, the research guides managers to involve employees in the PMS design and offer continuous training to ensure the system operates optimally. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of technology integration in PMS across various industry sectors.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of giving cayenne leaf extract in increasing the length and amount of hair on mice. This research belongs to the type of quantitative research. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in consisting of 5 treatment and 4 repetitions. The treatments consisted of NC (negative control, not treated), PC (positive control, given a commercial hair extract), P1 (cayenne leaf extract 10%), P2 (cayenne leaf extract 20%), and P3 (cayenne leaf extract 30%). Research parameters included the increase of the hair length and amount of hairs growing in mice. The result showed that giving extract of cayenne leaf significantly influences the length and amount of hairs in mice, with 10% concentration (P2) was the optimum concentration of the extract that can trigger the hair growth. It can be concluded that given extract of cayenne leaf can increase the hairs growth in mice and has potential as hair tonic.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the correlation between estrogen level and estrous cycle of rat fed with soybean flour and tempeh flour. A completely randomized design was applied in this study with 6 treatment groups and 5 replications. Rats in group 1, 2, and 3 were non-ovariectomized rats which were fed with pellet, 10 g soybean flour/100 g body weight/day, and 10 g tempeh flour/ 100 g body weight/day, respectively. The rats in group 4, 5, qnd 6 were ovariectomized rat which were fed with pellet, 10 g soybean flour/100 g body weight/day, and 10 g tempeh flour/100 g body weight/day, respectively. The rats were after fed with pellet, soybean and tempeh flour for 4 weeks, the estrous cycle phases of rats were examined based on the presence of vaginal epithelial cells and the number of qualitative vaginal epithelial cells, while the estrogen concentrations in serum were measured by radioimmunoassay method. The data was analyzed using analysis of variance and followed by Duncan multiple range test at 95% confidence. Non-ovariectomized rats given tempeh flour have longer estrus cycle than the non-ovariectomized rats which given soybean flour. The isoflavon contained in tempeh flour and soybean flour induced proliferation and cornification of vaginal epithelial cell. Feeding the soybean flour and tempeh flour to ovariectomized rats could optimize the estrogen hormone in initiating the estrus phase, in which of the tempeh flour addition had better effect than soybean flour. Correlation between the level of estrogen to the length of estrous cycle in both nonovariectomized rats and ovariectomized rats was positive, in which the higher the levels of estrogen the longer the length of estrous cycle.

Abstract

This study aimed to u determine the potency of Aceh Arabica coffee In rejuvenation of aging skin in rat. This study was conducted in vivousing completely randomized design (RAL), which consisted of 4 treatment groups as follows: premenopausal rats as negative control (KON),premenopausal rats with administration of distilled water as placebo (PLS), premenopausal rats with administration of ethinylestradiol 9x10-3mg/day/200 g BW (EST), and premenopausal rats with coffee extract administration of 300 mg/day/200 g BW (KOP). Each treatment groupconsisted of 5 rats. The parameters observed were skin collagen, water content/skin hydration, and skin ribonucleic acid (RNA) level. The datawere analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Duncan test using SAS 9.13 software. The result showed the average skin collagen andRNA levels were higher in premenopausal rats with administration of coffee extract and ethinylestradiol (P0.05) than control rats. On the otherhand, average of water level in premenopausal rats with coffee extract and ethinylestradiol administration were the same as control rats. It can beconcluded that administration of Aceh Arabica coffee extract can repair skin quality, which is indicated by the increase of collagen and RNAlevel on aging skin in rat.

Abstract

The role of BUMDes has a positive impact on communities and villages in terms of improving the economy and community welfare by establishing several business units, namely cattle fattening, catfish farming, house rental, terraces, and shop houses. However, the presence of BUMDes Makmu Beusaree has not played a role in increasing people's income, employment, and reducing poverty. But for community participation and contribution and increasing community knowledge and skills, BUMDes has played a role. The income of the community after joining BUMDes increased from the first category of Rp. 0-1,000,000 to the second category of Rp. 1,000,000-2,000,000, but BUMDes has not had a significant effect on increasing income because only people who join BUMDes experience an increase in income. The active workforce absorbed by BUMDes is 14 people. After the existence of BUMDes, the poverty rate decreased by 6%. The participation and contribution of the Lambro Deyah community to BUMDes is very good, as seen from the average percentage interval, which is 84.70% of the community participating and contributing to BUMDes. The increase in knowledge and skills carried out by BUMDes management is by providing training to BUMDes members and the community such as training and socialization of making animal feed from straw.
