Abstract

This study aims to improve cognitive abilities through patterned beading activities using loose parts in children aged 4-5 years. This research employs Classroom Action Research (CAR). The study was conducted in two cycles, each comprising four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques used in this research include observation, interviews, performance assessments, and documentation. The results show that learning activities aimed at enhancing cognitive abilities through patterned beading with loose parts can effectively improve cognitive skills in recognizing patterns, particularly ABC-ABC patterns. The improvement is evident as the pre-cycle activities showed that the percentage of pattern recognition skills in the BSH and BSB categories was only 14.28%. In Cycle I, this increased to 50% in the BSH and BSB categories. Subsequently, in Cycle II, cognitive abilities in pattern recognition within the BSH and BSB categories further increased to 78.57%. These findings imply that incorporating loose parts in patterned beading activities can be a valuable strategy in early childhood education to enhance cognitive development.

Abstract

The lack of a comfortable playing space and freedom to explore hinders children's creativity, thus, it is crucial to have the proper learning media to support creativity development in early childhood. This study aims to enhance early childhood creativity through the implementation of loose parts learning media at Muslimat NU Matesih Playgroup. Loose parts are open-ended materials that can be arranged, assembled, combined, or separated freely and flexibly according to the child's imagination. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted collaboratively between the researcher and classroom teachers over several learning cycles. The results indicate that the use of loose parts, such as leaves, twigs, stones, and other natural materials, strongly stimulates children's imagination and expression. A joyful and participative learning atmosphere further supports the development of creativity, as reflected in children's ability to create unique and original works. By providing opportunities for free exploration and using easily accessible materials, children are trained from an early age to think creatively, independently, and innovatively.

Abstract

The lack of understanding of national insight among the younger generation, amid the rapid pace of globalisation and developments in information technology, poses a major challenge to the continued integrity of the nation and state. The strategy to strengthen national awareness among students of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Programme (PPKn) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Nusa Cendana University (Undana) is a concrete step in shaping national character and increasing students' awareness of nationhood and statehood. The purpose of this study is to analyse the strategy for strengthening of national awareness among students of the PPKn programme at FKIP Undana. The method used in writing this article is descriptive qualitative, with an emphasis on library research. Library research is a method of data collection by reviewing and analysing various relevant written sources, such as books, journals, and documents, in order to gain a general understanding and theoretical basis of the topic being studied. The results of the study show that the strategy for strengthening the national awareness of students in the PPKn FKIP Undana study programme is carried out through various activities such as integration into the curriculum, extracurricular activities and student organisations, active involvement in community service activities, and the use of technology and social media. Through these various activities, students not only understand national values theoretically, but are also able to apply them and become agents of change who can implement national values in social and educational life.

Abstract

This study investigates the differences in online gambling addiction, psychological distress, and social stigma considerations between men and women. Furthermore, this study examines the moderating role of gender in the relationship between social stigma and online gambling addiction, and between addiction and psychological distress. This research involved 191 respondents, with 128 men and 63 women. Results showed that men have significantly higher levels of addiction, psychological distress, and consideration of social stigma compared to women. Social stigma has a significant positive effect on addiction, while addiction itself has a positive impact on psychological distress for both genders. However, gender does not moderate these relationships, suggesting that the mechanisms influencing addiction and psychological distress are universal across genders. This study emphasises the need for inclusive preventive interventions, particularly targeting young men, and social support-based and empathetic educational approaches to reduce addictive behaviors and mitigate the psychological consequences of online gambling.

Abstract

Violence against women in Indonesia is dominated by cases of sexual violence. Sex education in early childhood is needed to give children an understanding of the anatomy of the human reproductive organs in a simple and understandable way. This study aims to determine the role of parents in providing sex education in early childhood or preschool. This study uses a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at Masyithoh Ngasem Nursery School on 44 children who were purposively selected. Parental role was measured using a questionnaire. The data were analysed univariately. The results showed that most of the parents (90.21%) had provided good sex education to their children. In addition to explaining the genital organs, parents must be able to give examples and teach children to tell their parents if someone else touches their genitals. Sex education in early childhood is expected to prevent child sexual abuse and other sexual crimes. Children who know will be able to avoid, refuse and tell their parents if they are confronted with conditions that are suspected to lead to sexual crimes.

Abstract

This research seeks to explore the link between learning discipline and academic outcomes for students in PPKn (Civics Education). A quantitative approach using a correlational method is utilized. Data sources include PPKn teachers and students, with data collection techniques consisting of questionnaires, PPKn test results, and documentation. The research follows several stages of data analysis, including descriptive statistical analysis, normality test, linearity test, hypothesis testing, and determination coefficient test, followed by drawing conclusions. To examine the relationship between learning discipline and academic performance in PPKn, the researcher distributed questionnaires and collected students' academic results from the PPKn teacher. Subsequently, normality and linearity tests were conducted, followed by a Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. Using SPSS 16, the data was evaluated to explore the link between the two variables. The outcomes revealed a significance value of 0.102, higher than 0.05, reflecting no significant correlation among learning discipline and students' academic performance in PPKn for Class IX B at SMPIT Al-Mumtaz.
