Abstract

The high prevalence of early marriage in Indonesia, exacerbated by suboptimal implementation of regulations, poses significant negative psychological, health, social, and economic impacts on children. This community service activity aimed to increase the knowledge of the community in Tanjung Medang Village, Muara Enim Regency, regarding the impacts and importance of preventing early marriage. Implemented through an initial assessment, comprehensive education on the sociological perspective of early marriage impacts, and a post-intervention evaluation, the program demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge. Pre-test scores, initially at 70%, rose to 97% in the post-test, indicating the effectiveness of the socialization. This enhanced understanding is expected to form a foundation for collective efforts by the community and local government to reduce the rate of early marriage for the future well-being of children.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage characterized by significant physical, emotional, and psychological changes, making comprehensive knowledge about sexuality crucial to mitigate the risks of unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and other high-risk sexual behaviors. This community engagement initiative (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PkM) aimed to educate adolescents in Bakung Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, on the dangers and consequences of risky sexual behavior. The intervention was delivered through a series of village-based lectures and educational sessions. Pre- and post-test assessments revealed a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with scores increasing from an average of 60% in the pre-test to 96% in the post-test. These findings underscore the effectiveness of service learning in enhancing adolescent understanding and awareness, contributing to the prevention of risky sexual practices in rural settings.

Abstract

Healthcare services in Indonesia, as a multicultural country, face challenges in providing culturally sensitive nursing care. Clinical leadership plays a crucial role in developing nurses’ cultural competence to reduce patient anxiety, which can influence the healing process. This study aimed to examine the influence of clinical leadership on nurses’ cultural competence and its role in reducing patient anxiety in the inpatient ward of Nurul Hasanah Hospital. This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design, involving 120 nurses and 150 patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Clinical Leadership Survey, Intercultural Competence Scale in Nursing, and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that clinical leadership was rated high (mean = 3.82), cultural competence moderate (mean = 3.45), and patient anxiety moderate (mean = 42.8). Clinical leadership had a positive effect on cultural competence (β = 0.687, p < 0.001) and a negative effect on patient anxiety (β = -0.214, p = 0.004). Cultural competence negatively affected patient anxiety (β = -0.478, p < 0.001) and partially mediated the relationship between clinical leadership and patient anxiety (β = -0.328, p < 0.001). Clinical leadership effectively reduces patient anxiety both directly and indirectly by enhancing nurses’ cultural competence. Strengthening clinical leadership and cultural competence may contribute to more culturally responsive and psychologically safe inpatient care.

Abstract

Head nurses play a key role in creating a work environment that supports cultural safety. Transformational leadership enhances motivation, strengthens cross-cultural empathy, and fosters innovation in patient-centered care. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the head nurse’s leadership style and the implementation of cultural safety by nurses in pediatric care. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted using total sampling involving 45 pediatric ward nurses. Data were collected using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) Form 5X and a cultural safety assessment tool. Analysis was performed using the Chi-square test (α = 0.05). The results showed that most respondents were aged 26–35 years (53.3%), female (84.4%), held a Diploma in Nursing (62.2%), and had 1–5 years of work experience (40%). The predominant leadership style was transformational (46.7%). Cultural safety implementation was high (42.2%) and moderate (40.0%). A significant relationship was found between leadership style and cultural safety (p-value = 0.018). Transformational leadership was the most effective in enhancing cultural safety, with 66.7% of nurses under this leadership reporting a high level of cultural safety, compared to 56.3% moderate under transactional leadership and 62.5% low under laissez-faire. This study contributes to the development of nursing leadership models aimed at improving the implementation of cultural safety in Indonesia’s multicultural healthcare context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of education costs on the decision to become a student at a Vocational High School (SMK) majoring in Visual Communication Design (DKV) in the Greater Bandung Metropolitan area. The background of this study shows an imbalance between the increasing number of SMKs and the number of students, especially in the DKV department which actually experiences a low participation rate. People tend to be reluctant to choose SMK DKV because of the perception that the high cost of education is not commensurate with the benefits obtained, such as job prospects after graduation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of the entire population of SMK DKV students in the area, totaling 191 people. The results of the analysis show that education costs have a positive and significant influence on the decision to become a student, both partially and simultaneously with other variables such as the quality of educational services, institutional image, and social media marketing. Education costs are proven to be one of the main considerations in the process of evaluating alternative schools and decision-making by prospective students. These findings reinforce the importance of transparency and education cost policies that are balanced with the value of benefits in order to increase public interest in vocational education, especially in the field of visual communication design.

Abstract

Adolescent behaviour that embraces a lifestyle incongruous with Islamic moral values in the micro-social environment may impede the nation's development in the future. This phenomenon has emerged as a crucial and pressing issue in adopting Islamic moral values among adolescents. This research endeavored to gauge the impact and correlation of adhering to Islamic moral vertical and horizontal values on adolescent behaviour. The study also indicated variations in adopting vertical and horizontal moral principles among male and female adolescents. The research centred on senior high school students residing in rural regions of the North District in Aceh province. Three hypotheses were formulated and analyzed through IMB-SPSS.22.0. Data from 136 students aged between 16-19 years were processed using instruments sourced from the Muslim Personality-Religiosity Inventory (MPRI), which comprised twenty indicators, and t-tests and r2 were conducted. The research indicated a significant correlation and Influence between Islamic moral vertical and horizontal values and adolescent behavior. Furthermore, the study discovered that male and female students embrace vertical and horizontal moral values differently at a significant level. This finding confirmed that adopting Islamic moral values shapes students' conduct. Therefore, all adolescents must embrace Islamic moral values as they engage in their communities.

Abstract

The legal relationship between employees and employers is essentially fair, despite differences in socio-economic status. However, in practice, labor relations often experience disharmony due to violations of collective labor agreement provisions. This study aims to analyze the legal standing of collective labor agreements in resolving industrial relations disputes between workers and employers. The research method employs a normative approach by analyzing legislation and relevant court decisions. The findings reveal that collective labor agreements possess binding legal force once registered with the industrial relations court and can serve as a legal basis in labor dispute resolution. The novelty of this study lies in emphasizing the position of collective labor agreements as an independent legal source, rather than merely a supplement to individual employment contracts. Furthermore, this study highlights the limited authority of industrial relations courts to annul such agreements—an issue rarely explored in previous studies. Thus, a thorough understanding of the legal power and limitations of collective agreements is crucial in building a just and sustainable industrial relations system.

Abstract

Competency-based nursing education requires students to master clinical skills critical to workforce readiness; however, challenges persist in the field practicum due to limited structured guidance. This study addresses the lack of research on the effectiveness of structured digital e-mentoring programs in Indonesian clinical settings. The purpose was to evaluate the impact of group e-mentoring on the competence and performance of clinical instructors in supporting nursing student guidance at Nurul Hasanah Hospital, Kutacane. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test (without control group) was used. Total sampling based on inclusion criteria resulted in 60 respondents, including clinical instructors and nursing students. Competence was measured using the Mentor Competencies Instrument (MCI), and performance was assessed with the Nurse Mentor Performance Assessment tool. Data analysis employed the Wilcoxon signed-rank test to compare pre- and post-intervention scores. Results demonstrated statistically significant improvements in competence (mean increased from 115.2 to 148.3) and performance (mean increased from 55.8 to 66.2), with p-values of 0.000 and 0.001 respectively, indicating a positive effect of preceptorship and mentorship training integrated within the group e-mentoring program. These findings suggest that structured digital e-mentoring enhances clinical instructors' ability to provide effective student guidance, optimizing clinical education in resource-limited settings.
