Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of taxpayer awareness and tax sanctions on compliance in paying Land and Building Tax (PBB) in Medan Helvetia District. This research employs a quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 taxpayer respondents. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula. Descriptive data analysis was carried out using SPSS 25, while the structural model testing was conducted using SmartPLS 4.0. The results of the study show that, partially, taxpayer awareness does not have a significant effect on compliance in paying Land and Building Tax (PBB), whereas tax sanctions have a significant effect. Simultaneously, taxpayer awareness and tax sanctions have a significant effect on tax compliance. These findings indicate that strict sanctions are more effective in encouraging taxpayer compliance than increasing awareness alone.

Abstract

The relatively slow growth rate of sea cucumber (Holothuria scabra) and limited numbers of alternative feed have prevented the development and intensification of sea cucumber aquaculture. Anecdotal evidences suggested that solid organic waste from shrimp ponds could be used as feed for sea cucumbers. However, the efficiency of assimilation and digestibility of the waste have to be tested scientifically to ensure its real potential and benefits to farmed sea cucumber. This study aimed to determine the efficiency of assimilation and digestibility of solid organic waste sourced from shrimp ponds to be used as a feed for sea cucumber. The solid organic waste was treated by mixing it with a sand substrate at 40% of the total substrate. This study used eight aquarium units measuring 40 x 30 x 40 cm3, from which, four units for assimilation efficiency tests, and the remaining four for digestibility tests. The results of this study indicate that sea cucumbers were able to make use of nutrients and energy from the shrimp solid waste-based feed, where this ability was indicated by the assimilation efficiency (AE) of organic matter of 53.20 ± 13.23%, the assimilation efficiency of total bacteria of 41.76 ± 1.69 %, total digestibility of 46.63 ± 17.57%, protein digestibility of 71.52 ± 17.11%, and phosphorus digestibility of 73.32 ± 13.83%. The findings from this research confirms that sea cucumber can use the solid organic waste nutrients from shrimp ponds as feed and has a great potential as Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture species to utilize solid organic waste nutrients from shrimp ponds.

Abstract

Soft-shell crab is a valuable product variant in aquaculture, with moulting being a critical phase for its production. Physiological indicators such as haemolymph profiles and mineral content in muscle tissue are essential for assessing crab health and moulting performance. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of autotomy treatment on the physiological condition of mud crab (Scylla serrata), focusing on haemolymph characteristics and mineral concentrations in muscle during the pre-moulting and post-moulting phases. The treatment involved inducing autotomy of walking legs and claws. Sampling was conducted at four distinct phases: pre-autotomy, 15 hours post-autotomy, at immediate post-moult stage, and two days post-moulting. The physiological parameters observed included Total Haemocyte Count (THC) and Differential Haemocyte Count (DHC), comprising hyaline, semi-granular, and granular cell types. Muscle mineral content was assessed by measuring calcium, sodium, and phosphorus concentrations. Results indicated that autotomy reduced THC and the proportion of hyaline cells, while granular cells increased during the post-moulting phase. Calcium, sodium, and phosphorus concentrations decreased shortly after autotomy, peaked during moulting, and declined again after moulting. These findings provide insight into the physiological responses of mud crabs to autotomy and offer practical reference points for enhancing moulting success and supporting soft-shell crab production in aquaculture systems.

Abstract

Affective assessment is a crucial component of Islamic education, as it plays a significant role in shaping students’ character and moral values. However, in practice, affective assessment is often overlooked or conducted without a systematic instrument. This study aims to analyze the ability of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers to develop affective assessment instruments at Madrasah Aliyah Syamsuddhuha Dewantara, North Aceh. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through a field study. The subjects were PAI teachers teaching in grades X, XI, and XII. Data were collected using observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and methods. The findings reveal that while PAI teachers are aware of the importance of affective assessment, they still face challenges in designing valid and structured instruments. Some teachers have begun implementing procedures such as formulating indicators, drafting statements, and developing scoring rubrics, but these efforts are not yet consistent. Affective assessment is still predominantly conducted through informal observation, without supporting documentation that can be accounted for administratively. This study highlights the urgent need to enhance teachers’ competence in developing affective assessment instruments. Proper and systematic assessment not only improves evaluation quality but also strengthens the goals of Islamic education in nurturing students with noble character and integrity.
