Abstract

Head nurses play a key role in creating a work environment that supports cultural safety. Transformational leadership enhances motivation, strengthens cross-cultural empathy, and fosters innovation in patient-centered care. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the head nurse’s leadership style and the implementation of cultural safety by nurses in pediatric care. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted using total sampling involving 45 pediatric ward nurses. Data were collected using the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) Form 5X and a cultural safety assessment tool. Analysis was performed using the Chi-square test (α = 0.05). The results showed that most respondents were aged 26–35 years (53.3%), female (84.4%), held a Diploma in Nursing (62.2%), and had 1–5 years of work experience (40%). The predominant leadership style was transformational (46.7%). Cultural safety implementation was high (42.2%) and moderate (40.0%). A significant relationship was found between leadership style and cultural safety (p-value = 0.018). Transformational leadership was the most effective in enhancing cultural safety, with 66.7% of nurses under this leadership reporting a high level of cultural safety, compared to 56.3% moderate under transactional leadership and 62.5% low under laissez-faire. This study contributes to the development of nursing leadership models aimed at improving the implementation of cultural safety in Indonesia’s multicultural healthcare context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of education costs on the decision to become a student at a Vocational High School (SMK) majoring in Visual Communication Design (DKV) in the Greater Bandung Metropolitan area. The background of this study shows an imbalance between the increasing number of SMKs and the number of students, especially in the DKV department which actually experiences a low participation rate. People tend to be reluctant to choose SMK DKV because of the perception that the high cost of education is not commensurate with the benefits obtained, such as job prospects after graduation. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method of the entire population of SMK DKV students in the area, totaling 191 people. The results of the analysis show that education costs have a positive and significant influence on the decision to become a student, both partially and simultaneously with other variables such as the quality of educational services, institutional image, and social media marketing. Education costs are proven to be one of the main considerations in the process of evaluating alternative schools and decision-making by prospective students. These findings reinforce the importance of transparency and education cost policies that are balanced with the value of benefits in order to increase public interest in vocational education, especially in the field of visual communication design.

Abstract

The legal relationship between employees and employers is essentially fair, despite differences in socio-economic status. However, in practice, labor relations often experience disharmony due to violations of collective labor agreement provisions. This study aims to analyze the legal standing of collective labor agreements in resolving industrial relations disputes between workers and employers. The research method employs a normative approach by analyzing legislation and relevant court decisions. The findings reveal that collective labor agreements possess binding legal force once registered with the industrial relations court and can serve as a legal basis in labor dispute resolution. The novelty of this study lies in emphasizing the position of collective labor agreements as an independent legal source, rather than merely a supplement to individual employment contracts. Furthermore, this study highlights the limited authority of industrial relations courts to annul such agreements—an issue rarely explored in previous studies. Thus, a thorough understanding of the legal power and limitations of collective agreements is crucial in building a just and sustainable industrial relations system.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in teaching Islamic Religious Education (PAI) to children with mild intellectual disabilities at SLB Negeri Bina Bangsa. Children with mild intellectual disabilities have intellectual limitations that require a more individualized, concrete, and contextual learning approach. Within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum, teachers are expected to design differentiated, enjoyable, and student-centered learning activities. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation, conducted at SLB Negeri Bina Bangsa Syamtalira Aron and an SLB in Lhokseumawe city. The results show that PAI learning is implemented through concrete approaches involving direct practice, storytelling, role-playing, the use of visual media, and habituation of religious values. Evaluation is carried out qualitatively and authentically through observation of students’ religious behavior. The Merdeka Curriculum provides teachers with the creative freedom to adapt content, processes, and assessments to meet the needs of students with mild intellectual disabilities. This implementation also reflects humanistic principles and learning consistent with modern curriculum theories. The findings confirm that the Merdeka Curriculum can be effectively applied in inclusive education, provided there is support from creative teachers, adequate learning facilities, and active involvement of parents and the school environment.

Abstract

Molluscs are one of the most preferred ingredients for marine lobster feed because the mollusc has a higher protein content. Therefore, this material has the potential to substitute the fish meals and reduce the cost for feeding lobsters. The objective of the present study was to investigate digestive enzyme activities and growth performance of painted spiny lobsters fed with a combination of mollusc meal and fish meal in the diet. Four experimental diets were formulated to contain 20% sardine fish meal and 20% mackerel fish meal (Diet A). 10% Telescopium muscle meal (TMM) + 15% golden snail meal (GSM) + 15% scallops muscle meal (SMM) (Diet B). 15% TMM + 10% GSM + 15% SMM (Diet C) and 15% TMM + 15% GSM + 10% SMM (Diet D). A total of 24 juvenile painted spiny lobsters were distributed into twelve plastic tanks (two lobsters/tank) with a size of 60 45 60 cm and reared in a recirculating system for a 50-day rearing period. The lobster was fed only one time a day (05:00 pm) with a dosage of 3% biomass weight. The results showed that the enzyme activities of lobsters fed with combined mollusc meals were higher than the enzyme activity in the lobsters fed with the fish meal combination diet. The weight gain of the painted spiny lobster fed with mollusc meal was higher than the lobster fed with a fish meal diet. Based on results of enzyme activities and growth performance. It was concluded that the combination of mollusc meal in the formulated diet was more suitable than the combination of fish meal for optimum enzyme activities and growth performance of painted spiny lobster

Abstract

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a growing global health concern with increasing maternal-fetal morbidity and long-term health risks, and poor knowledge of GDM among pregnant women raises the potential for serious complications. Aim: This study aims to analyze the effect of health education using leaflets and lectures on pregnant women's knowledge about gestational diabetes mellitus in the community health center (Puskesmas) in North Aceh Regency. Methods. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The sample was drawn from pregnant women undergoing antenatal care at the community health center (Puskesmas) in North Aceh Regency, with a total of 64 respondents from the intervention and control groups. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling according to predetermined criteria. Results: The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed a significant difference in knowledge before and after health education using lectures and leaflets on pregnant women's knowledge. Conclusions: Health education using lectures and leaflets has a greater impact on improving pregnant women's knowledge than lectures alone. Implications: Healthcare providers should develop health education programs that combine several simple and clear educational methods about gestational diabetes mellitus for pregnant women and their families.
