Abstract

Although Singapore cannot be used as a model for global Islamic education, this country has quite several madrasahs. The Singapore government is also quite responsive in providing support for the continuation of Islamic education activities. This study aims to analyze the Islamic education system—madrasah management and curriculum in Singapore. Most importantly, this study identifies how the role of madrasahs in the Singapore education system is. The study in this paper is qualitative. This study uses library research, and the method of content analysis and constant comparative analysis becomes the first option of the writer. The results show that Singapore's Islamic Ugama Majlis (MUIS) plays a significant role in monitoring and managing the development of Islamic education in Singapore, which performs three types of Islamic education, Part-Time Education, Full Time Education, and Islamic Study Program for the Community. MUIS created a special curriculum by proposing the Singapore Islamic Education System (SIES) by introducing the ALIVE curriculum. The role and relevance of madrasahs cannot be underestimated or dismissed because the growing Muslim community and society will always need the right channels for real Islamic education regardless of how progressive or modern it is. This paper provides a broad view of madrasah in Singapore and looks at management, curriculum, and the role of madrasahs.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the image and personality of human beings in the perspective of Western psychology and Islamic psychology. The writing method used is a qualitative method (qualitative research). As for the process of analyzing the data, the author uses the descriptive-analytical analysis method. This paper proves that the study of human image in the review of Western psychology and Islamic psychology has similarities. Similarly, in the humanistic school of psychology the image of the human being is seen as a good being and has unlimited potential (homo ludens). This view is consistent with the teachings of Islam as well as the Eastern people's view of man. However, in understanding human personality, Western psychology and Islamic psychology have differences. First, in the perspective of Western psychology, the study of human personality is ethically neutral, that is, it only displays the personality that appears as it is.In the perspective of Islamic psychology, the study of human personality is ethically laden, that is, it displays the personality that should be. Second, in the perspective of Western psychology, the study of personality only looks at the empirical (environmental) aspect, without looking at the mental (spiritual) aspects behind the human personality. In the perspective of Islamic psychology, the study of personality not only looks at the empirical (environmental) aspects, but also looks at the mental (spiritual) aspects that underlie the human personality. Third, in the perspective of Western psychology the study of personality is anthropocentrically oriented, which means that the human personality is influenced by human potential alone, and negates the existence of interference or will from God Almighty. Meanwhile, the study of human personality in the perspective of Islamic psychology is anthropo-religiouscentric oriented, which means that human personality is not only influenced by human potential, but also there is interference or will from God Almighty.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to analyze how the synergy between family, school, and community education can strengthen the understanding and practice of religious moderation and the supporting factors, forms, and effects of this synergy. The research was conducted at Sindang Jati, Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu using qualitative methods and a phenomenological approach. The data collection technique used snowball sampling for interviews, accompanied by observation and documentation. The data were analyzed with a phenomenological model through epoch and ideation. The research results show that close collaboration between education received in the family, at school, and in society can significantly improve understanding and practice of religious moderation. These findings confirm that the synergy between these three components provides a large positive impact, in line with the social theory proposed by Parson and Brofenbrenner. Factors such as shared goals, effective communication (associative interaction), parental involvement, school commitment, and community trust and roles are essential in strengthening this synergy. In line with Murphy's law, the synergy of the three educational centers minimizes opportunities for immoderate attitudes and actions to grow. Abstract

The discourse on the hidden curriculum has not yet been scientifically touched upon in studies oriented towards curriculum in the Indonesian context. Therefore, this qualitative research seeks to address the discourse on the hidden curriculum. This study aimed to investigate the implementation of the hidden curriculum in the Islamic religious education subject at SMA Negeri 1 Rejang Lebong. Informants in the study were the Principal of SMAN 1 Rejang Lebong and Islamic Education Teachers. The data were garnered using in-depth interviews with the informants. The data were then analyzed using an interactive model. This study found that SMA Negeri 1 Rejang Lebong had implemented the hidden curriculum effectively. The implementation of the hidden curriculum included the integration of local culture with marriage-teaching materials and the use of references to the Kitab Kuning published by Middle Eastern countries as additions and reinforcements. The hidden curriculum was also implemented by inculcating the insight of religious moderation and Islamic understanding of Wasathiyah as a counter to the takfiri and intolerant thoughts that were circulated and widespread in cyberspace. This was done to fortify students' religious understanding so that it did not lead to a radical or liberal understanding.
