Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of problem-based learning (PBL) on high school students' environmental literacy by considering socio-scientific factors. The main focus of this research is the environmental literacy of students at SMA Plus Sedayu Nusantara in Medan Marelan District. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group and a quantitative approach. The study population consisted of 62 tenth-grade students at SMA Plus Sedayu Nusantara, divided into two groups: the experimental class (X MIA1, 31 students) and the control class (X MIA2, 31 students). Research instruments included multiple-choice tests, essays, and attitude questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using an independent t-test with the SPSS v24 software. The results showed that the average learning outcome of the experimental class increased from 55 to 78 after treatment, while the control group increased from 47 to 57. Descriptive statistical analysis indicated a difference in the average environmental literacy levels between the experimental and control groups. The t-test results confirmed that the average score of the experimental class was significantly higher than that of the control class. In conclusion, problem-based learning (PBL) is effective in improving high school students' environmental literacy by considering socio-scientific factors. Abstract

This study aims to develop a Team Games Tournament (TGT)-based e-module on the human digestive system for 11th-grade high school students to enhance their critical thinking skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The participants were 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 16 Medan. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments. The results indicated that the e-module was classified as highly valid (92% by content experts and 91% by media experts). The practicality test showed very high practicality scores from both teachers (97.75%) and students (94%). Furthermore, the effectiveness test, measured by an N-gain of 0.80, demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. In conclusion, the developed TGT-based e-module is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in the study of the human digestive system. Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim of developing an E-LKPD learning product based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) integrated with the Liveworksheet platform on the immune system material, as an effort to develop students' critical thinking skills, this research used the Research and Development (R&D) method by adapting the ADDIE model. The model consists of five main stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, which are carried out systematically to produce valid, practical, and effective learning products. The instruments used consisted of expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and problem-solving ability tests through pretest and posttest. The results of the study showed that the resulting E-LKPD product was classified as very valid with a validation score of 91%, had a very high level of practicality with a score of 90% from teachers and 94% from students, and showed high effectiveness with an N-Gain value of 0.76. In conclusion, E-LKPD based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) developed through Liveworksheet is suitable for use as a biology learning medium for the immune system material because it has been proven to be valid, practical, and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. Abstract

Biodiversity is often considered a complex topic for students to understand. Therefore, media connecting the material with the environment's potential is needed. With the development of technology, interactive learning media such as videoscribe is one solution. Videoscribe is a video media that uses the concept of a blackboard, where virtual hands appear to draw or write on the screen. This research aims to develop videoscribe media that is valid, practical, and effective. Researchers used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg & Gall model consisting of seven stages: identification of potential problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product trial, and final revision. The research instruments included interviews with teachers, student needs questionnaires, media and material expert validation sheets, and teacher and student response questionnaires. To measure the effectiveness of the media, 10 multiple choice questions were used. The results showed that the validity of videoscribe according to media experts reached 97.5%, and according to material experts 100%, both in the very valid category. This media is also considered very practical, with 97.72% teacher response and 92.86% student response. The effectiveness of the media was measured using N-Gain from the pretest and posttest results, which showed a score of 0.76, including in the effective category. The videoscribe media developed is considered valid, practical, and effective for use in the learning process.Abstrak. Keanekaragaman hayati sering dianggap sebagai topik yang sulit dipahami oleh siswa. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan media yang dapat menghubungkan materi dengan potensi lingkungan. Dengan perkembangan teknologi, media pembelajaran interaktif seperti videoscribe menjadi salah satu solusi. Videoscribe adalah media video yang menggunakan konsep papan tulis, di mana tangan virtual tampak menggambar atau menulis di layar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media videoscribe yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Peneliti menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Borg & Gall yang terdiri dari tujuh tahap, yaitu identifikasi potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, uji coba produk, dan revisi akhir. Instrumen penelitian meliputi wawancara dengan guru, kuesioner kebutuhan siswa, lembar validasi ahli media dan materi, serta angket respon guru dan siswa. Untuk mengukur keefektifan media, digunakan 10 soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validitas videoscribe menurut ahli media mencapai 97,5%, dan menurut ahli materi 100%, keduanya dalam kategori sangat valid. Media ini juga dinilai sangat praktis, dengan respon guru 97,72% dan respon siswa 92,86%. Keefektifan media diukur menggunakan N-Gain dari hasil pretest dan posttest, yang menunjukkan skor 0,76, termasuk dalam kategori efektif. Jadi, media videoscribe yang dikembangkan ini dinilai valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

In the 21st century, innovation is needed in the development of learning media that is not only academically valid, but also easy to use by teachers and students and effective in increasing understanding of biodiversity and conservation. Tapanuli Orangutan conservation is a field survey activity to find out about the protection of orangutans in their natural habitat. This study aimed to develop a Biology module based on the conservation of the Tapanuli Orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis) in the Batang Toru area as a support for valid, practical, and effective Biodiversity material. The module was developed with the 4D development model by Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop & Disseminate) The instruments used in the study were in the form of a questionnaire sheet analyzing the needs of Biology teachers and students, material expert validation sheet, media expert validation sheet, Biology teacher response questionnaire and students to measure the ability to use presest and posttest. The validation results show that the module is included in the valid criteria with validity in media experts 78.75% and material experts 92.30% so it is feasible to use in Biology learning. The results of the response questionnaire showed that the module was included in the very practical criteria with practicality in the Biology teacher's response of 100% and the students' response of 96%. The module is included in the effective criteria with an N-gain achievement of 0.81. Based on these results it can be concluded that the module that has been developed is declared feasible to use in learning Biology. So that the resulting module can be an innovative teaching material for teachers and can be used in the learning process and future research.Abstrak: Pada abad 21 ini diperlukan inovasi dalam pengembangan media pembelajaran yang tidak hanya valid secara akademik, tetapi juga mudah digunakan oleh guru dan siswa serta efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap biodiversitas dan konservasi. Konservasi Orangutan Tapanuli merupakan kegiatan survei lapangan guna mengetahui tentang perlindungan Orangutan di habitat aslinya. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengembangkan modul Biologi berbasis konservasi Orangutan Tapanuli (Pongo tapanuliensis) yang ada di daerah Batang Toru sebagai penunjang materi Biodiversitas yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Modul dikembangkan dengan model pengembangan 4D oleh Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develov & Disseminate) Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian adalah berupa lembar angket analisis kebutuhan guru Biologi dan peserta didik, Iembar validasi ahli materi, lembar validasi ahli media, angket respon guru Biologi dan peserta didik untuk mengukur kemampuan menggunakan presest dan posttest. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa modul termasuk dalam kriteria valid dengen kevalidan pada ahli media 78,75% dan ahli materi sebesar 92,30% sehingga layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran Biologi. Hasil angket respon menunjukkan bahwa modul termasuk dalam kriteria sangat praktis dengan kepraktisan pada respon guru Biologi sebesar 100% dan respon peserta didik sebesar 96%. Modul termasuk dalam kriteria efektif dengan capaian N-gain sebesar 0,81. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa modul yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran Biologi. Sehingga modul yang dihasilkan dapat menjadi bahan ajar yang inovatif bagi guru serta dapat digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran dan penelitian kedepannya.

Abstract

The development of biology learning modules based on local potential, especially the manufacture of patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) is certainly an interesting matter, at this stage the research was carried out in Aceh Tamiang with biodiversity material for class X SMA/MA. The study was carried out at SMAN 2 Patra Nusa, Manyak Payed, Aceh Tamiang from July 2021 to January 2022. This study uses the Borg & Gall model of research and development (R&D). The study tool consisted of a questionnaire sheet for material specialists, media professionals, educators, and students as well as a practicality test questionnaire. The study's test participants were students in class X-3 at SMAN 2 Patra Nusa, Manyak Payed, Aceh Tamiang. After the tryout was conducted on 30 students to ascertain their response to the module evaluation, a practicality test was also carried out to determine the practicality of the module for 10 students using a practicality test questionnaire instrument sheet. Based on the conclusions of the material expert validation, a percentage of 51.6% was attained with a respectable category. 90% of the validation results from media experts were extremely respectable. With a percentage of 94.7%, the teacher's response to the module yielded quite positive results. The module's results from student replies had a very respectable category percentage of 89.9%. The module's practicality test scores fell into the very practical category with a rating of 87.5%. Thus, both teachers and students can benefit from using the local potential based biology learning module on biodiversity content.

Abstract

This study aimed to design and examine the feasibility of a web-based Virtual Field Trip (VFT) learning media integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on mangrove ecosystem materials to improve environmental literacy of students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN). The method used was Research and Development (R&D), which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects involved tenth-grade MAN students, with practicality and effectiveness testing conducted. The results showed that the web-based VFT media had a very high level of practicality based on students’ and teachers’ responses and was effective in improving students’ environmental literacy. Project-based learning through virtual exploration helped students understand mangrove ecosystem concepts more contextually and foster environmental awareness. In conclusion, the web-based VFT media is feasible to be used as an innovative and contextual Biology learning media to enhance environmental literacy of MAN students. Abstract

Background (General): In the 21st century, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are crucial for fostering critical, creative, innovative, and independent learners, aligning with the Merdeka Curriculum’s vision. Background (Specific): Environmental change and conservation topics are particularly suited to HOTS development, especially when contextualized through local wisdom, yet such integration remains underexplored in Indonesian Madrasah Aliyah contexts. Knowledge Gap: Despite evidence supporting Discovery Learning and local wisdom separately, limited studies investigate their combined impact on HOTS in secondary education biology, particularly in schools rich in cultural-environmental practices. Aim: This study examines the effect of a local wisdom-based Discovery Learning model on Grade X students’ HOTS in environmental change and conservation at MAN 2 Model Medan. Results: Using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, findings show a significant improvement in the experimental group’s HOTS (mean posttest = 87.7) compared to the control (67.3), with statistical tests confirming normality, homogeneity, and a significant effect (p < 0.001). Novelty: The study integrates culturally relevant local practices into a constructivist Discovery Learning framework to enhance HOTS in environmental education. Implications: These results suggest that embedding local wisdom within inquiry-based models can meaningfully boost analytical, evaluative, and creative thinking skills, offering a replicable strategy for culturally responsive science education.Highlight : Discovery Learning based on local wisdom effectively improves students' HOTS. The research data is normally distributed and homogeneous according to statistical tests. The average posttest score of the experimental class is higher than that of the control class. Beberapa bagian harus diperhatikan dan merupakan hal penting untuk keahlian seorang guru adalah kompetensi sosial, yang harus terus dikembangkan. Seorang guru harus mampu berintraksi dengan baik dan membangun hubungan yang positif dengan orang-orang, termasuk siswa, orang tua, rekan guru, dan masyarakat, untuk membuat lingkungan belajar menjadi lebih baik dan efektif. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kriteria Keterampilan interpersonal pada guru di MTs Madinatussalam. Model yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengambilan sampel melalui wawancara dan pengamatan. Gambaran fenomena yang terjadi dari narasumber dan hasil obsevasi peneliti digunakan untuk menganalisis data yang dikumpulkan. Sebagai hasil dari pencarian informasi, guru bahasa Inggris di Mts Madinatussalam sudah memenuhi persyaratan sebagai guru dengan kompetensi sosial yang baik. Dibuktikan dari kesesuaian jawaban siswa pada angket/questioner dan hasil wawancara dengan guru bahasa Inggris tersebut. Memahami dan menerapkan kompetensi sosial dalam kegiatan mengajar dapat membantu guru menjadi pendidik yang lebih efektif dan berkontribusi pada masa depan pendidikan yang lebih baik.

Sebagai hasil dari pencarian informasi, guru bahasa Inggris di Mts Madinatussalam sudah memenuhi persyaratan sebagai guru dengan kompetensi sosial yang baik. Dibuktikan dari kesesuaian jawaban siswa pada angket/questioner dan hasil wawancara dengan guru bahasa Inggris tersebut. Memahami dan menerapkan kompetensi sosial dalam kegiatan mengajar dapat membantu guru menjadi pendidik yang lebih efektif dan berkontribusi pada masa depan pendidikan yang lebih baik.
