Abstract

The growth of the snack food industry in Indonesia encourages MSME actors to innovate in improving product competitiveness, including through packaging development. UMKM Nambawang, as a producer of fried shallots, faces challenges in packaging design that lacks visual appeal and does not reflect the product’s identity, despite its superior taste quality. This study aims to design more functional, economical, and competitive fried shallot packaging by integrating the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Value Engineering (VE) methods. QFD is applied to translate consumer needs (voice of customer) into technical packaging attributes, while VE is used to evaluate the performance and cost-efficiency of design alternatives. The analysis results indicate that key attributes prioritized in packaging development include color aesthetics, product protection, ease of opening and resealing, clarity of product information, and storage convenience. These main attributes are translated into technical elements such as the use of standing pouches, zipper locks, full-print designs, added onion illustrations, and complete product information. The application of QFD and VE methods results in a mockup visually appealing, functional, and durable packaging design, enhancing the product’s added value based on consumer needs and increasing its competitiveness in the domestic market.

Abstract

This study is related to using HDPE plastic bag waste applied to building structural components, specifically concrete beams. An innovation utilizes HDPE plastic waste not in shredded form but by taking advantage of the rigid physical properties of HDPE plastic waste after it is burned, crushed, and sieved to the size of sand to be used as a partial replacement (substitution) for fine aggregate (sand). The type of research conducted is experimental quantitative research to determine the flexural capacity of concrete beams made from HDPE plastic bag waste as a partial replacement for fine aggregates using the normal flexural strength testing method with two-point loading. The test specimens prepared were concrete beams with dimensions of 15 × 15 cm cross-section and 65 cm in length, with varying amounts of HDPE plastic bag waste replacement: 0.00% (normal concrete), 0.50%, 0.70%, and 0.90% of the weight of the sand. The concrete beam specimens were cured using a wet curing method and tested at 14 and 28 days of age. The results showed that at 14 days, the concrete beam specimens with variations of 0.00%, 0.50%, 0.70%, and 0.90% achieved flexural strengths of 3.16, 3.35, 2.91, and 2.97 MPa, respectively. Meanwhile, at 28 days, the specimens with variations of 0.00%, 0.50%, 0.70%, and 0.90% reached flexural strengths of 3.39, 3.95, 3.06, and 3.07 MPa, respectively. The highest flexural strength was achieved by the concrete beam specimen with a 0.50% substitution variation, both at 14 and 28 days, with values of 3.35 and 3.95 MPa, respectively, exceeding the flexural strength of the beam without HDPE plastic waste substitution (0.00%).

Abstract

This study raises legal issues regarding the position and strength of defendant testimony as evidence in criminal cases through a comparative approach between the Indonesian criminal law system and Islamic criminal law. The purpose of this study is to examine the fundamental differences in the assessment of defendant testimony in both legal systems. The research method used is normative juridical. The results of the study show that in Indonesian criminal law, the defendant's testimony as regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) has the weakest position and can only be used as a basis for evidence if it is supported by at least two other valid pieces of evidence, in accordance with the provisions of Article 183 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Conversely, in Islamic criminal law, the defendant's testimony (iqrar) can be strong evidence and stand alone as perfect evidence, especially in ta'zir cases. However, in hudud and qishash-diyat cases, the confession must meet strict requirements, such as being made voluntarily, in detail, and repeatedly, as well as considering the consent of the victim's heirs in qishash cases. This comparison shows that despite differences in the weight of evidence, both systems place the principles of prudence and justice as the basis for assessing the defendant's statement to ensure the achievement of material truth. These findings contribute to the development of a criminal evidence system based on substantive justice and principles.

Abstract

This study examines the validity of audio recordings as evidence in both Indonesian criminal law and Islamic criminal law, in response to technological advancements in legal proof mechanisms. The objective is to explore how audio recordings are recognized and positioned within these two legal systems. The research employs a normative juridical approach through a literature review. The findings indicate that audio recordings are legally recognized as electronic evidence in positive law under Law No. 1 of 2024 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, although they are not explicitly regulated in the Indonesian Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). In Islamic criminal law, audio recordings can be accepted as qarinah (strong indication) or bayyinah (clear evidence), particularly in taʿzir cases, provided they meet authenticity requirements and do not contradict the principles of sharia justice. This study underscores the importance of integrating positive law with Islamic legal values to address the challenges of legal evidence in the digital era.

Abstract

The pattern of Islamic religious understanding formed in prisons often differs from that which develops in the general community. Outside of prisons, religious understanding is influenced by tradition, family environment, and open access to religious education. Inside prisons, religious understanding is shaped through formal and structured guidance programs. The purpose of this study is to describe the patterns of religious understanding among juvenile inmates at the Class I Prison in Medan and to what extent the rehabilitation programs implemented can bring about changes in their religious understanding and attitudes. This study employs a qualitative research method. It was found that after participating in the rehabilitation programs, there was an increase in religious awareness and practice.

Abstract

Inclusive education is a global mandate that emphasizes the importance of providing education that ensures access, participation, and learning success for all students, including children with special needs (CSN). In this context, children with mild intellectual disabilities present unique challenges, particularly related to limitations in cognitive aspects, social adaptation, and self-regulation. The main issue addressed in this study is how structured individual learning strategies can be effectively implemented to support the achievement of competencies for students with mild intellectual disabilities in inclusive elementary school settings. The aim of this research is to conduct a theoretical review of the effectiveness of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) as a pedagogical approach based on individual needs, responsive to the unique characteristics of learners. The method used is a systematic literature review with a qualitative-descriptive approach through the examination of scientific publications, academic books, and national policies related to inclusive education and differentiated learning services. The analysis results show that the IEP plays a strategic role in optimally accommodating the learning needs of students with mild intellectual disabilities, emphasizing flexible planning, realistic goals, and progress-oriented evaluation. The effectiveness of the IEP increases significantly when it is designed through cross-professional collaboration among general education teachers, special education teachers, and parents. The conclusion of this study affirms that the implementation of IEP not only strengthens the pedagogical dimension of inclusive education but also promotes a paradigm shift towards more adaptive and humanistic education. The novelty of this study lies in the conceptual integration and practical implementation of the IEP for students with mild intellectual disabilities in elementary schools, which remains limited within the scope of national research.

Abstract

Transformasi digital dalam pendidikan telah membuka peluang baru dalam pembelajaran fisika, khususnya bagi calon guru. Salah satu teknologi inovatif yang sekarang diterapkan adalah ChatGPT, kecerdasan buatan berbasis bahasa yang mampu memberikan dukungan interaktif untuk memahami konsep fisika dan merancang strategi pengajaran. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi potensi penggunaan ChatGPT dalam pembelajaran fisika bagi calon guru, dengan fokus pada tantangan yang dihadapi dan dukungan yang diberikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ChatGPT dapat membantu calon guru dalam memahami konsep fisika abstrak, menyediakan simulasi berbasis teks untuk eksperimen sederhana, dan mendukung pengembangan rencana pelajaran. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti tantangan seperti keterbatasan AI dalam memahami konteks lokal, risiko ketergantungan teknologi, dan masalah etika dalam penggunaannya. Adapun rekomendasi dari penelitian ini ialah menekankan pentingnya integrasi yang bijaksana antara teknologi AI dan pedagogi konvensional untuk mempersiapkan guru masa depan yang kompeten dan adaptif. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pengembangan kerangka pelatihan yang menggabungkan teknologi berbasis AI dengan metode pengajaran tradisional untuk menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang lebih efektif dan inklusif.

Abstract

This study analyzes the protection of children's rights from the behavior of drug-addicted parents based on the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), which requires parents to care for, educate, guide, and protect children until adulthood. Using a qualitative approach with a normative legal research type, the study was conducted on primary legal sources (the Qur'an, hadith, KHI, and laws and regulations), secondary (books, journals, previous research), and tertiary. Descriptive-analytical analysis was used to examine the suitability of legal norms with child protection needs. The results of the study indicate that drug-addicted parents are unable to optimally carry out their hadhanah function, making children vulnerable to neglect, violence, and loss of education, affection, and moral and spiritual support. In such conditions, children's rights can be transferred to extended family members such as grandparents or more capable relatives, while the state is obliged to be present through legal intervention, social rehabilitation, educational services, and psychological support. Therefore, child protection requires synergy between families, communities, and the government to ensure children's rights are guaranteed. This research contributes to enriching the study of Islamic family law while providing practical recommendations in efforts to protect children affected by drug abuse by parents.

Abstract

Penambangan Emas Tanpa Izin (PETI) merupakan kegiatan pertambangan yang dilakukan tanpa legalitas dari instansi berwenang dan telah menjadi permasalahan serius di berbagai wilayah Indonesia. Aktivitas ini tidak hanya melanggar hukum tetapi juga berdampak negatif terhadap lingkungan dan sosial masyarakat sekitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis upaya penertiban yang dilakukan oleh aparat penegak hukum serta hambatan yang dihadapi dalam menangani aktivitas PETI, dengan fokus pada studi kasus di wilayah Kabupaten Mandailing Natal Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, studi dokumen, dan observasi lapangan. Upaya penertiban yang dilakukan meliputi tindakan represif melalui operasi gabungan dan penegakan hukum, serta tindakan preventif dan pre-emtif melalui sosialisasi dan pendekatan persuasif. Diperlukan sinergi antara pemerintah, aparat hukum, dan masyarakat dalam menciptakan solusi berkelanjutan untuk mengatasi aktivitas PETI dan mendorong praktik pertambangan yang legal dan berwawasan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penertiban PETI masih menghadapi berbagai kendala seperti keterbatasan sumber daya aparat, keterlibatan oknum, serta faktor sosial-ekonomi masyarakat yang bergantung pada pertambangan ilegal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of policy changes and regulations on bag imports on the local product industry in Indonesia. In recent years, the Indonesian government has adjusted import regulations to protect domestic producers from the influx of cheaper and more abundant foreign goods. This case study highlights how these policies are implemented, the challenges faced in their implementation, and their impact on local bag producers, including business growth, competitiveness, and consumer preferences. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach in several local bag production centers in Indonesia, such as Tasikmalaya and Bandung. The research findings indicate that while the policy provides protection for the domestic market, its implementation still faces bureaucratic obstacles, insufficient policy outreach, and limited support for enhancing local production capacity. This study recommends the need for synergy between trade policies and local industry empowerment to create a healthy and sustainable ecosystem for domestic products.
