Abstract

Abstract

The integration of Islamic values into English language teaching has become an important issue in Islamic educational institutions, particularly in contexts where English is taught as a foreign language. English language instruction is often perceived as focusing primarily on linguistic skills, with limited attention to moral and spiritual dimensions. This condition raises concerns regarding the need to balance language competence with character and value education. Therefore, internalizing Islamic values in English language teaching is essential to ensure that students develop not only communicative abilities but also strong moral and spiritual foundations. This study aims to explore the internalization of Islamic values in English language teaching and to examine how these values are implemented in classroom practices. Employing a qualitative research design, the study was conducted in an Islamic-based educational institution where English is taught as a compulsory subject. The participants consisted of English teachers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, including lesson plans and teaching materials. The data were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to identify recurring themes related to the integration of Islamic values. The findings reveal that Islamic values are internalized in English language teaching through the integration of moral principles into learning objectives, teaching materials, classroom activities, and teacher–student interactions. Values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, respect, cooperation, and politeness are consistently emphasized during the learning process. Teachers employ Islamic-contextualized materials, such as reading texts and dialogues containing moral messages, and reinforce values through daily classroom routines, including greetings and reflective practices. Teacher modeling and communicative behavior also play a crucial role in strengthening value internalization. Despite the positive implementation, the study identifies several challenges, including limited availability of English teaching materials that explicitly integrate Islamic values and varying levels of teacher preparedness in applying value-based instruction. Nevertheless, the integration of Islamic values is perceived to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and character development without hindering language acquisition. In conclusion, the internalization of Islamic values in English language teaching contributes to holistic education by combining linguistic competence with moral and spiritual growth. The study recommends greater institutional support, teacher training, and the development of value-based English teaching resources to strengthen the effectiveness of this integrative approach.

Abstract

The increasingly complex environmental crisis demands an educational approach that is not only technical but also based on values and ethics. Islam, as a comprehensive religion, has ecological teachings that position humans as caliphs on earth with the responsibility to maintain the balance and sustainability of nature. This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing Islamic ecological values through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at the Darul Muhajirin Trailu Boarding School. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, boarding school administrators, and students, as well as documentation studies of the curriculum and institutional activities. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis with triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results show that the internalization of Islamic ecological values occurs through cognitive, affective, and conative stages, which are integrated into PAI learning and reinforced by the boarding school culture. Islamic ecological values such as trustworthiness (amanah), balance (mīzān), and the prohibition of causing harm (fasād) are instilled not only through learning materials but also through teacher role models and the daily lives of students. However, this study also found that the internalization of these values is still implicit and not systematically structured within the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. This study recommends strengthening the integration of Islamic ecological values within the Islamic Religious Education (ISE) curriculum and developing experiential learning in boarding school environments.

Abstract

The synergy between Sharīʿah fintech regulation and halal tourism must be grounded in the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharīʿah), which prohibit usury (ribā), uncertainty (gharār), and gambling (maysir), to foster a fair, transparent, and sustainable economic ecosystem that empowers local communities. In practice, however, this synergy faces several challenges, including regulatory oversight gaps, superficial Sharīʿah compliance, cross-sectoral regulatory fragmentation, low levels of Sharīʿah financial literacy, and limited digital infrastructure. In Indonesia, Sharīʿah fintech is regulated by POJK No. 77/2016 on technology-based lending services, DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 117/2018 on Sharīʿah-compliant fintech operations, and PBI No. 19/2017 concerning fintech implementation and financial system stability. Halal tourism, meanwhile, is governed by Law No. 33/2014 on Halal Product Assurance, which mandates halal certification for goods and services, including tourism-related activities. This normative legal research employs legislative, conceptual, and analytical approaches, drawing on primary and secondary legal materials obtained through literature review and document analysis. The findings indicate that regulatory integration between Sharīʿah fintech and halal tourism is essential for promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Such synergy enhances transparency, accountability, and trust, while enabling halal tourism operators to access ethical financing through instruments such as muḍārabah and mushārakah. Ultimately, this collaboration strengthens Indonesia’s national halal ecosystem, supports SMEs, enhances economic development, and increases global competitiveness in halal market.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The prohibition of riba constitutes a fundamental principle in Islamic teachings aimed at preserving justice and balance in economic activities. This study examines the interpretive relationship between Q.S. Al-Baqarah (2:275) and several authentic hadiths on riba in order to reconstruct a coherent textual framework. Through qualitative textual analysis of classical tafsir works and major hadith commentaries, the research explores how the Prophetic traditions function to elaborate the actors, mechanisms, and socio-economic consequences involved in riba practices. The findings indicate that the hadith literature operates as an epistemic extension of the Qur’anic prohibition, transforming a general theological warning into a structured legal-ethical system governing economic behavior. This study offers a theoretical contribution to hadith studies by emphasizing the hermeneutical role of hadith in the formation of Islamic economic norms, while also providing conceptual clarification for contemporary debates regarding the relevance of the prohibition of riba within modern financial systems.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning on elementary school students’ empathy, self-regulation, and character development. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group pretest–posttest model. The research subjects consisted of 60 fourth-grade students at SDIT Al Hidayah, who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received PAI instruction integrated with SEL, while the control group followed regular PAI instruction. Data were collected using an empathy scale, a self-regulation scale, and a character observation rubric. Data analysis was conducted using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) with pretest scores as covariates. The results indicated that the integration of SEL into PAI learning had a significant effect on improving students’ empathy, self-regulation, and character development (p < 0.05). Among the measured variables, self-regulation showed the largest effect size compared to the others. These findings demonstrate that PAI learning integrated with SEL is more effective in developing students’ social-emotional competencies and character than conventional PAI instruction. This study contributes to the development of a contextual PAI learning model that is relevant to the demands of 21st-century education.
