Abstract

This article aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in supporting the success of the group counseling process. The method used is a literature study by analyzing various literatures and national journals published in 2020-2025. The results showed that MBTI plays an important role in strengthening group dynamics, building effective communication, and developing facilitation strategies that are in accordance with the personality characteristics of each member. In addition, MBTI has also been shown to support the process of self-reflection, decision-making, and personal development of counselees. Nonetheless, the application of MBTI should be done contextually and ethically so that it does not become a fixed label for individuals. Thus, MBTI can be a strategic tool in improving the overall effectiveness of group counseling.

Abstract

This article explores the effectiveness of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach in group counseling services to address various psychological issues experienced by students, such as anxiety, academic stress, low self-efficacy, and procrastination. Through a literature review of 20 articles published between 2015 and 2024, the study highlights that CBT-based group counseling has a positive impact on enhancing educational awareness, career maturity, self-confidence, self-control, and body image. Techniques such as cognitive restructuring, role playing, symbolic modeling, and active music therapy further reinforce the effectiveness of these interventions. However, the success of implementation greatly depends on the counselor’s skills, the intensity of sessions, and the participants’ active engagement. Therefore, CBT is considered a relevant and adaptable approach to be applied in group counseling within educational settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the critical role of English proficiency in career advancement and business growth, focusing on the characteristics of an ideal Business English course. The research employs a qualitative approach, using interviews and focus group discussions with seven employees from various industries to gather insights. Findings reveal a preference for small classroom settings (3-5 people) where instruction is delivered entirely in English. Participants believe that such settings provide personalized attention and foster interactive learning experiences, which are more effective for mastering the language. However, several challenges were identified, including low self-esteem, mockery from peers, and a lack of learning partners. Low self-esteem and fear of ridicule discourage active participation and practice, while the absence of learning partners outside the classroom limits opportunities to reinforce skills. This study highlights the necessity of tailored Business English courses that focus not only on language proficiency but also on the unique challenges faced by adult learners. By addressing these challenges, such courses can enhance professional communication skills, contributing to individual career success and business growth. This research underscores the importance of a holistic approach to Business English education, which considers both the instructional environment and the psychological needs of learners.

Abstract

This study examines the perspectives of two English teachers at SEED Academic on the use of experiential learning in teaching young learners. Using a qualitative descriptive case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. The research aimed to explore how teachers conceptualize experiential learning, the strategies they use to implement it, and the challenges they face in doing so. The current study made advantage of a qualitative descriptive instrument. According to the study, teachers employed different methods to teach English to young learners and had different opinions regarding how to use experiential learning. It also found that implementing experienced learning proved challenging for educators. Findings reveal that experiential learning promotes student engagement, creativity, and real-world application of language skills. However, teachers also reported challenges such as time constraints and managing diverse learning needs. The study recommends greater support for English teachers in implementing experiential learning to enhance student-centered language education in primary settings. Nonetheless, a teacher has already included practical learning into several English language teaching exercises. Through encouraging critical thinking and creativity, experiential learning helps students to apply their knowledge in relevant settings. Incorporating practical learning into English language instruction helps young students acquire their language far better. All things considered, using experiential learning to teach English to young kids was advantageous. Consequently, the study advises English teachers to use experiential learning since it offers empirical data supporting its adaption in primary-level language classrooms and shows how interactive, real-world events can raise students' participation and learning results.

Abstract

Based on various studies and studies, the LGBT phenomenon in Indonesia, especially in the Pekanbaru area, is still often viewed negatively because it is considered contrary to local social and cultural norms. Several factors that influence the emergence of LGBT sexual orientation include childhood experiences, the influence of the social environment, and conditions within the family. Psychological interventions such as group counseling with the Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) approach combined with religious values, such as in Islamic counseling, have proven effective in reducing inner conflict, increasing the ability to manage emotions, and encouraging acceptance and self-confidence of LGBT individuals. This approach also helps replace irrational thought patterns and strengthens emotional resilience, although cultural and social challenges are still major obstacles. On the other hand, the importance of multicultural competence for professionals is also highly emphasized in dealing with issues related to LGBT and their emotional health. Education about sexuality and increasing public understanding of diversity are considered important to reduce stigma and discrimination against the LGBT community. Overall, the results of this study indicate the need for an appropriate psychological approach and educational efforts to create social acceptance and improve the welfare of LGBT individuals.

The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze how effective group counseling services are in improving career readiness and maturity, as well as to determine its effect on learners' self-efficacy, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. The results showed that group counseling improved participants' career maturity, self-efficacy, and future planning, with a significant increase from pretest to posttest. The use of media and technology encouraged creativity and effectiveness of the services, although privacy and ethical issues still need to be addressed, especially for online services. In addition, external elements such as family and social environment influence. Therefore, group counseling-if conducted in a planned, flexible, sustainable, and appropriately evaluated manner-helps participants prepare for their careers.
