Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology presents significant opportunities to enhance the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, the implementation of AI in value-based education faces various technical, pedagogical, and ethical challenges that impact its effectiveness and sustainability. This qualitative phenomenological study explores students’ perceptions of AI integration in PAI learning, focusing on their experiences, acceptance, and challenges encountered. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Bloom’s Taxonomy frameworks to understand acceptance levels and AI’s contribution to learning outcomes. Findings reveal that AI has the potential to support more personalized, adaptive, and interactive learning, especially at the cognitive and analytical stages. Nevertheless, the role of teachers and religious scholars remains essential in guiding spiritual aspects and value evaluation, positioning AI as a complementary tool rather than a replacement. Key challenges include overreliance, information validity, and ethical concerns, requiring adequate supervision and technology literacy. The study recommends AI integration grounded in Islamic values, involving religious experts, and curriculum development emphasizing critical thinking and originality. Thus, AI can become a strategic partner in creating relevant, humanistic, and ethical PAI learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Evaluating Learning Motivation as a Mediator Between Family Environment and Academic Achievement: Evidence from Indonesian Secondary Students. Objective: This study aims to investigate the role of motivation as a mediating factor in the relationship between family environment and academic achievement in the Indonesian context. Previous studies have examined the relationships between family environment and academic achievement, as well as the connection between learning motivation and academic achievement. However, based on a literature review, a study investigating the relationship between family environment and academic achievement with learning motivation as a mediating variable has not yet been conducted in Indonesia. Methods: A quantitative approach using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was applied to a sample of 156 students from a junior high school in West Java. Results: The results show a significant effect of family environment on learning motivation (β: 0.502, p < 0.001), and a significant effect of learning motivation on academic achievement (β: 0.276, p = 0.030). However, the effect of family environment on academic achievement was not significant, confirming the full mediation of learning motivation. However, the influence of the family environment on learning achievement is not significant, as evidenced by the full mediation of learning motivation (Indirect Effect: 0.129, p = 0.046). Therefore, educational interventions that combine family awareness and student engagement strategies are necessary to help students achieve satisfying academic performance in school. Conclusion: Although the family is the primary environment in the process of student growth and development, its influence on learning achievement occurs indirectly. This influence becomes significant only when the family environment fosters students' motivation to learn. Educational interventions need to strategically integrate increased awareness and the active role of the family with programs to strengthen students' learning motivation, as motivation is a key link between family support and academic success. Keywords: learning motivation, family environment, academic achievement, students.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service program is to improve Arabic language skills while strengthening Islamic values among Indonesian migrant children at Sanggar Bimbingan Gombak Utara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This program was designed to address the problems of low Arabic literacy, limited teaching methods, and weak understanding of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) among diaspora children. Through this initiative, it is expected to foster a young generation with basic Arabic proficiency, strong religious understanding, and confidence in maintaining their Islamic identity within a multicultural environment. The implementation method applied a participatory approach consisting of identification, planning, implementation, evaluation, and reflection stages. Several learning strategies were employed, including Joyful Learning Arabic, Al-Lughah wa Al-Hayah, Pelita Hikmah, Quiz Cahaya Iman, and Sanggar Qur’an. The activities were conducted interactively, involving lecturers, students, local teachers, and PRIM Malaysia to ensure program sustainability. The results show significant improvements both academically and socio-spiritually. Academically, children’s vocabulary mastery, simple conversation skills, and Qur’anic recitation with tajwid improved based on pre-test and post-test results. Socially, the program fostered greater self-confidence, active participation, and a stronger sense of community. Spiritually, the internalization of Islamic values was reflected in children’s daily attitudes and behavior. The program also produced simple teaching modules, online mentoring, and collaborative networks to support sustainability. Thus, this initiative not only addressed short-term needs but also built a relevant, sustainable learning ecosystem that can be replicated in other diaspora communities..

Abstract

This study explores the teaching of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MTs Muhammadiyah Sangen, focusing on the methods, models, media, and challenges encountered. The goal of SKI learning is not only to provide historical insights but also to instill Islamic values and enhance students' critical thinking skills through a Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) approach. The methods used include lectures, storytelling, and interactive discussions, while the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is applied to encourage analysis and problem-solving. Learning media such as textbooks and audiovisual aids help improve students' understanding. However, several challenges remain, such as students' low reading proficiency, suboptimal implementation of HOTS, and resistance to learning innovations. To address these issues, teachers employ more adaptive strategies, such as reading guidance, gradual implementation of HOTS, and interactive methods. With this approach, SKI learning is expected to be more effective in shaping students with Islamic character and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh inovasi di bidang pendidikan terutama yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah, tidak hanya berfokus pada aspek administratif saja akan tetapi juga pada pengembangan kualitas pembelajaran, lingkungan sekolah, serta pengelolaan sumber daya yang ada. Dengan inovasi yang tepat, lembaga pendidikan dapat berkembang dan meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan yang disediakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Memberi deskripsi tentang upaya Kepala Sekolah SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar mewujudkan sekolah yang unggul; 2) Memberi deskripsi tentang apa saja inovasi yang dilakukan Kepala Sekolah SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar mewujudkan sekolah yang unggul; 3) Mendeskripsikan dampak inovasi yang dilakukan Kepala Sekolah SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar dalam proses mewujudkan sekolah yang unggul. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, dengan metode pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, dan teknik analisis data berupa reduksi, display, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Upaya Kepala Sekolah SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar mewujudkan sekolah yang unggul yaitu melalui kepemimpinan yang inovatif merupakan kunci untuk pengembangan sekolah unggul. Inovasi yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar menunjukkan bagaimana pendekatan kreatif dan inovatif melalui kompetensi pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial dan profesional. 2) Inovasi yang dilakukan oleh kepala sekolah memiliki peran kunci dalam mewujudkan sekolah unggul. Inovasi harus berfokus meningkatkan kualitas ruang belajar, meningkatkan tempat olahraga, meningkatkan tempat ibadah, meningkatkan ruang perpustakakan, laboratorium, komputer dan Sumber Belajar Lainnya serta penguatan kerjasama internal dan eksternal sekolah. 3) Dampak inovasi Kepala Sekolah mewujudkan sekolah yang unggul, antara lain meningkatnya citra sekolah di masyarakat, terbentuknya kemitraan dengan masyarakat, alumni, dan dunia industri, terjadinya kolaborasi kegiatan seperti pelatihan, bakti sosial, magang, atau lomba di luar sekolah menjadi lebih mudah, warga sekitar merasa memiliki sekolah, dan kebanggaan lokal terbentuk karena adanya prestasi yang diakui di tingkat daerah, nasional, atau internasional. Saling terkait dan menciptakan ekosistem pendidikan yang lebih sehat dan berdaya, warga sekitar merasa memiliki sekolah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas metode UMMI dalam meningkatkan motivasi dan kemampuan membaca Al-Quran siswa SDN 2 Kedungdowo. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen terhadap siswa kelas 5 dan 6 selama periode Januari–Februari 2024. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam skor rata-rata kemampuan membaca Al-Quran siswa dari 51,5 (kategori kurang lancar) menjadi 71,75 (kategori lancar) setelah penerapan metode UMMI. Faktor keberhasilan meliputi pendekatan emosional berbasis kasih sayang, pengulangan praktis tanpa tekanan, dan peran aktif guru sebagai fasilitator. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan metode UMMI secara konsisten dengan pelatihan khusus bagi guru untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran membaca Al-Quran di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This article aims to examine and formulate a new conceptual framework for transforming Islamic educational leadership within multicultural societies. The study is grounded in the sociocultural reality of Indonesia a nation marked by extensive cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity which demands a more inclusive, adaptive, and transformative model of leadership in Islamic education. Although prophetic values such as amanah (trustworthiness), fathanah (wisdom), shura (consultation), and ‘adl (justice) have long served as normative foundations of Islamic leadership, their implementation in educational institutions remains largely centralized and insufficiently responsive to social plurality. Utilizing a qualitative library research approach, this study analyzes primary and secondary literature published between 2020 and 2025, including contemporary leadership theories, classical Islamic texts, and recent empirical findings. The results indicate that integrating Islamic values with modern leadership theories such as transformational and distributed leadership can enhance institutional capacity to create equitable, participatory, and context-sensitive learning environments. This article proposes five key pillars for leadership transformation: responsiveness to multiculturalism, synthesis of Islamic values with modern theory, moral exemplarity, impact-based effectiveness, and convergence between prophetic ethics and strategic management. The study offers an original conceptual contribution for developing Islamic educational leadership models capable of addressing the challenges of pluralism and fostering institutions rooted in the principles of rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation).

Abstract

Pemberian konsesi tambang oleh pemerintah kepada ormas keagamaan, khususnya Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), efektif mulai 30 Mei 2024, memunculkan berbagai implikasi sosial dan ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak dari kebijakan konsesi tambang terhadap struktur sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat, serta mengevaluasi konsistensi kebijakan tersebut dengan nilai-nilai agama dan keberlanjutan lingkungan. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi literatur, penelitian ini akan menilai bagaimana konsesi tambang mempengaruhi relasi kelas sosial, kemungkinan eksploitasi tenaga kerja, serta dampak lingkungan yang mungkin timbul. Teori Marxisme digunakan untuk memahami potensi konflik kelas yang mungkin terjadi antara pemilik tambang dan pekerja, sedangkan teori hegemoni kultural Gramsci akan membantu menjelaskan bagaimana dominasi budaya dapat mempengaruhi persepsi masyarakat terhadap kegiatan tambang. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan rekomendasi yang berguna untuk NU dan pihak terkait dalam memastikan bahwa kegiatan tambang dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan dampak jangka panjang terhadap lingkungan, kesejahteraan masyarakat, dan keselarasan dengan nilai-nilai agama yang dianut.

Abstract

This paper explores Muhammadiyah's significant contributions to the Islamization of knowledge, emphasizing its integration of Islamic principles with contemporary education and societal needs. Key areas of focus include Muhammadiyah’s extensive network of educational institutions, which offer curricula combining religious teachings with modern sciences, fostering a well-rounded education. The organization’s research and scholarly activities have enriched Islamic thought and philosophy, promoting intellectual discourse through various publications and academic journals. Additionally, Muhammadiyah’s social and cultural programs have positively impacted Indonesian society by addressing both material and spiritual needs through community outreach and development projects. The paper also highlights Muhammadiyah’s global influence, serving as a model for integrating Islamic values with modern education. The importance of the Islamization of knowledge is underscored as a means to bridge the gap between traditional Islamic teachings and contemporary knowledge, fostering ethically grounded generations capable of addressing modern challenges. The study concludes with a call for further research and engagement to document Muhammadiyah’s methodologies, successes, and challenges, ensuring its principles and practices continue to benefit future generations.

Abstract

This study aims to compare two Qur'an reading methods implemented in different institutions: the Asy Syifa' Method at Alima Quran House and the Dirosa Method at the Omah Ngaji Berbagi Community Islamic Boarding School. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research explores how each method is implemented, identifies their respective strengths and weaknesses, and assesses their impact on students' Qur'an reading abilities. Data collection involved direct observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The research subjects consisted of students and instructors from both institutions. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that the Asy Syifa' Method has a structured, level-based curriculum (Tahsin A–D) supported by regular evaluations such as mid- and end-semester tests. This method effectively enhances students' accuracy in reading the Qur'an, particularly in mastering tajweed and makhrajul huruf. In contrast, the Dirosa Method provides a simpler and more time-efficient learning experience, comprising only 20 sessions, making it suitable for adult beginners aiming to quickly gain basic Qur'an reading skills. However, this method lacks systematic evaluation and in-depth tajweed instruction. In conclusion, both methods offer distinct advantages depending on the learners’ needs: the Asy Syifa' Method suits those seeking structured, in-depth mastery, while the Dirosa Method benefits those requiring flexible, rapid learning. These findings are expected to inform educators and Islamic learning institutions in selecting appropriate Qur'an teaching methods based on their students’ profiles and learning objectives
