Abstract

This research is conducted due to the problems found in research field. The problems found in this research are the existence of code-mixing used by the 11th grade students of SMKN 1 Cimahi when they were asked to retell a short story. Code-mixing happens when language speakers mix traditional language with Indonesian language at once. In other words, a person who speaks in main Indonesian language has the autonomous function. While the traditional language, is only an auxiliary tool that has no autonomous function. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research. Observation and questionnaire are implemented as the instruments of this research. The population of this research is all of 11th- grade-student of SMKN 1 Cimahi and the sample contains 25 students of 11 IOP A class. The questionnaire was conducted to 25 students, but the observation was only conducted to 5 students. This research found that students often use traditional language when they speak in Indonesian language. Unconsciously, students frequently use kecap penganteb when they speaking.

Abstract

Some traditional Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia in teaching Arabic only focus on teaching the rules of language, memorizing vocabularies with their meanings, without regarding the importance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, and the development of Arabic teaching curriculum that is relevant for non-native Arabic students. The main problem in teaching Arabic in traditional boarding schools is reflected in the understanding of learning objectives, teaching materials, teaching methods, and the quality of teachers. The aim of this paper is to describe the basic concepts of learning Arabic for non-native Arabic students. The main solution to overcome the problem of teaching Arabic is to set learning goals that are in line with the needs analysis, create teaching materials suitable for learning Arabic for non-Arabic natives, use effective teaching methods, and select teachers who are trained and have a good competency in teaching language.

This means that there is a linear relationship between independent and dependent variables. It can also be seen from the significance (0.000) α (0.05) so H0 is rejected. This study explained that there is a significant linear relationship between the independent variables (facilities, the lecturers, job opportunities, costs and reputation campus) with dependent variable.
