Abstract

The core purpose of Pendidikan Profesi Guru Prajabatan (PPG) is to educate prospective teachers to become professional teachers. To achieve this goal, students requires psychological abilities when facing challenges such as dense and demanding tasks based on the curriculum that must be completed in 2 semesters. This study aims to (1) test the theoretical model of regression of self-compassion, and (2) determine the contribution of self-control, motivation, and resilience to self-compassion in PPG students. This study used a causal relationship design. Data were collected with (1) Brief Self Control Scale, (2) The Academic Motivation Scale, (3) The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and (4) Self-Compassion Scale which have been tested for validity and reliability; data were analyzed with multiple regression. A total of 474 preservice PPG students participated. The results showed that theoretical model was fit. Self-control, motivation, and resilience have significant effects on self-compassion. This finding provides essential basis for policies to reinforce these three factors in enhancing self-compassion of PPG students. The toughness of the lectures and the immense challenges require self-compassion as a psychological support so that students are able to adapt and succeed in challenging tasks.

Abstract

Self-harm is a maladaptive emotion-regulation strategy experienced by university students facing intense psychological distress. This study aimed to explore the subjective experiences of Muslim university students who engaged in self-harm and to examine the roles of irrational belief systems and spirituality in their recovery process. Using a qualitative approach with an interpretative phenomenological design, data were collected from six Muslim undergraduate students in Tulungagung, Indonesia, consisting of five females and one male aged 20–22 years, who were in their fourth and eighth semesters. Data we re obtained through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation/life history, and were analyzed thematically using REBT-based coding. The findings generated three main themes: (1) self-harm as an emotion-regulation mechanism in the absence of a safe relational space, reinforced by frustration intolerance; (2) interpersonal trauma as the root of awfulizing and self-downing beliefs; and (3) recovery through belief-system reconstruction supported by relational support, meaningful activities, and Islamic spirituality. These findings indicate that self-harm should not be understood merely as deviant behavior, but as an expression of unresolved emotional distress maintained by irrational beliefs. The study highlights the need for culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and spiritually integrated RREBT-based counseling interventions for Muslim university students experiencing self-harm tendencies.

Abstract

The low discipline of elementary school students, which is reflected in delays, irregularities in following classroom procedures, and weak adherence to school norms, shows that the formation of discipline cannot depend on formal instruction and written regulations alone. In basic education, the internalization of disciplinary values takes place through implicit daily experiences. This study aims to analyze the role of hidden curriculum in shaping the discipline attitude of grade V elementary school students and identify supporting and inhibiting factors for its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation review, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model that included reduction, presentation, and verification of data repeatedly. The results of the study show that hidden curriculum operates through three main mechanisms, namely the daily routine of the school, the role model of teachers, and social norms that are not written in the classroom culture. These three mechanisms synergistically shape student discipline behavior, including punctuality, adherence to procedures, academic independence, and the ability to self-regulate social interactions. Supporting factors include the stability of school culture and teacher commitment, while inhibiting factors include inconsistency in disciplinary practices, diversity of family backgrounds, and limited facilities. This study concludes that hidden curriculum has a strategic role in building student discipline in a natural, humanistic, and sustainable manner through strengthening the culture of habituation in elementary schools. This study provides empirical evidence regarding the operational mechanism of hidden curriculum in the formation of discipline in Indonesian elementary schools.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the contribution of religious motivation and learning behavior to student achievement. The approach used was non-experimental quantitative with a correlational design on 120 students selected using cluster random sampling. The research instruments used have been tested for validity and reliability. The religious motivation scale has a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.833 in the very high category and the learning behavior scale has a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.680 in the high category. Learning achievement uses the average Even Semester Final Exam report card score for the 2022/2023 academic year. Data analysis used multiple regression techniques which showed an R Square value of 0.144, meaning that the two variables contributed 14.4% to the student achievement variable. The research results show; (1) religious motivation contributes to the achievement of eleventh-grade students, (2) learning behavior contributes to the achievement of eleventh-grade students, (3) religious motivation and learning behavior contribute to the achievement of eleventh-grade students. Teachers need to guide students to increase religious motivation and learning behavior to achieve the desired learning achievements.
