Abstract

This study investigates students’ perceptions of the effectiveness, enjoyment, engagement, and preference in using Wordwall-based activities for learning Arabic vocabulary. Employing a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the research involved 38 Arabic language students at an Islamic university who had direct experience using five types of Wordwall-based games, including quiz-based, matching, and puzzle activities. A descriptive survey was first used to map student preferences across the four criteria. Subsequently, thematic analysis of open-ended responses was conducted to explain the quantitative trends. Each game was integrated into vocabulary learning sessions, after which participants completed a questionnaire consisting of four multiple-choice and four open-ended questions. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the frequency and percentage of preferences, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically to explore underlying reasons and insights. Thematic analysis followed the key stages of familiarization, coding, theme identification, and interpretation, focusing on themes such as ease, challenge, reward systems, time, and visual displays. Results indicate that Gameshow Quiz is perceived as the most effective and preferred game, whereas Maze Chase and Find the Match stand out for their interactivity and visual appeal. Overall, the findings emphasize the pedagogical value of game-based learning in enhancing student engagement and vocabulary acquisition in Arabic language instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital-based change management model to enhance vocational students’ work readiness in vocational schools. Rapid technological change and evolving industry requirements have intensified the mismatch between vocational graduates’ competencies and labor market expectations. Previous studies highlight that limited digital integration and weak change management reduce the relevance of vocational education. This research employed a qualitative case study involving school leaders, vocational teachers, industry partners, and students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed thematically using Atlas. Ti 9. The findings indicate that effective digital transformation is shaped by six interrelated factors: the urgency for change, school–industry collaboration, continuous teacher competency development, technology-embedded curriculum implementation, systematic evaluation mechanisms, and graduate outcomes. These factors collectively strengthen students’ technical skills, digital literacy, and employment-readiness. The proposed model demonstrates that adaptive change management and active stakeholder involvement improve curriculum relevance and perceived employability. This study contributes theoretically by enriching perspectives on change management in vocational education and, practically, by offering a contextual framework for digital curriculum development. It recommends continuous curriculum updating, infrastructure investment, and sustained industry partnerships to ensure long-term workforce readiness.

Abstract

Abstract Leadership is a fundamental factor in determining the success of educational institutions, particularly in creating a productive, harmonious, and quality-oriented work environment. In the context of modern educational management, leadership effectiveness is not only determined by intellectual intelligence but also by the ability to manage and express emotions positively, known as emotional intelligence. This study aims to describe the concept of emotional leadership in educational management, analyze the role of leaders’ emotional intelligence in motivating teachers and students, and examine the Islamic perspective on emotional leadership as a model grounded in moral and spiritual values. The research was conducted at SD Negeri 42 Talang Ubi, Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency, using a qualitative approach through library research and descriptive analysis of relevant empirical and conceptual sources. The findings reveal that emotional intelligence–based leadership significantly influences teachers’ motivation, loyalty, and professionalism, while fostering a conducive, harmonious, and humanistic school climate. From the Islamic perspective, emotional leadership aligns with the exemplary leadership of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who demonstrated a balance of gentleness, empathy, and moral firmness. This principle remains relevant in the modern educational era, which demands the integration of emotional intelligence and spirituality in leadership. Therefore, emotional intelligence–based leadership is not only a managerial necessity but also a manifestation of Islamic ethical and moral values in building a character-based educational culture. Keywords: emotional leadership, emotional intelligence, teacher motivation, Islamic perspective

Abstract

Computational thinking (CT) has become an essential component of secondary education, with several countries, including Indonesia, integrating CT tasks, such as those from the Bebras Challenge, into the national informatics curriculum. However, these tasks are often presented in static and text-based formats, limiting their potential to engage learners in interactive and meaningful ways. This study aimed to develop and evaluate the usability of an educational game adapted from a Bebras Challenge problem, "Magic Potion". It was designed to be aligned with the Grade 8 Informatics curriculum in Indonesia. The game engages students in CT through experimentation-based gameplay, where players mix potions to observe the effects on digital flowers and deduce which potion contains water. Using a Design and Development Research (DDR) framework, the game was tested with 55 junior high school students, who then completed the System Usability Scale (SUS) and open-ended feedback questions. The results yielded a mean SUS score of 75.3, indicating good usability. Qualitative feedback highlighted the game’s visual appeal, interactivity, and cognitive engagement. These findings suggest that curriculum-based CT tasks can be effectively transformed into engaging game-based learning tools, offering accessible entry points for introducing CT in formal educational contexts.

Abstract

This study reveals the strategies employed by a primary school principal in implementing instructional leadership to foster meaningful learning. The research employed a qualitative case study with semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings highlight three themes that reflect the principal’s instructional leadership strategies. These strategies involve supervision and management of learning resources, innovative leadership, and teacher professionalism development. These strategies reflect how principals operationalize instructional leadership to create conditions that support meaningful learning. Through systematic supervision and effective resource management, principals ensure that teaching practices are aligned with curricular goals and student needs. Their innovative leadership fosters a school culture that values creativity, reflection, and learner-centered instruction. Moreover, by facilitating teachers’ professional development, principals strengthen teachers’ capacity to design learning experiences that connect new knowledge to students’ prior understanding, an essential feature of meaningful learning as described by Ausubel’s theory.
