Abstract

This study explores the relationship between gadget usage and learning concentration among students at UIN SYAHADA. The increasing reliance on digital devices has raised concerns regarding its impact on students’ academic focus and cognitive performance. The primary purpose of this research is to analyze whether high-frequency gadget usage correlates with lower levels of concentration during learning activities. A quantitative research method was applied, using a correlational approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to a sample of 100 students selected using purposive sampling. The results reveal a significant negative correlation between the intensity of gadget usage and students’ concentration in learning. This indicates that students who use gadgets excessively tend to have reduced concentration, which can hinder academic performance. The findings emphasize the importance of promoting balanced gadget use and implementing strategies for digital discipline among students. This study provides insights for educators and policymakers to design interventions that foster healthier learning environments and minimize distractions caused by digital technologies.

Abstract

Women’s leadership in education plays a crucial role in fostering inclusive, participatory, and sustainable school environments, particularly at the primary school level where relational and community-based approaches are essential. This study aims to explore how female principals in primary schools in Banjarmasin City exercise leadership in empowering school communities, identify the values, strategies, and approaches they employ, and examine the challenges and opportunities they encounter in their leadership practices. Employing a qualitative research design, this study collected data through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving two female principals from public primary schools in Banjarmasin. The findings reveal that female principals demonstrate empathetic, collaborative, and transformational leadership grounded in local socio-cultural values such as religiosity and kinship. Their leadership practices emphasize participatory decision-making, inclusive learning environments, and strong partnerships with teachers, parents, and the wider community. Despite facing structural and cultural challenges, including gender bias and role duality, the principals responded strategically by strengthening professional competence, fostering trust-based relationships, and utilizing community networks as sources of support. This study concludes that women’s leadership contributes significantly to empowering school communities and shaping positive school cultures. The findings highlight the importance of systemic support and leadership development programs to strengthen women’s leadership in primary education.

Abstract

The digital transformation and the adoption of hybrid workplaces in the wake of the pandemic have reshaped the workplace landscape and, at the same time, posed new threats to employees' well-being, including digital stress, emotional burnout, and reduced social interaction. In this scenario, People Analytics is a vital, data-driven, and real-time method for recognizing employee behavior, participation, and well-being. The present research aims to examine the effect of People Analytics adoption on employee well-being in the hybrid work era, with employee engagement as a mediator and data ethics as a moderator. A quantitative explanatory approach is taken for the study, and 400 participants from the service and technology sectors in Indonesia are involved. The data is analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to reveal relationships among variables. The results show that People Analytics has a positive and significant effect on employee well-being (β = 0.527; p < 0.001). Employee engagement partially mediates this relationship, and data ethics further strengthens it. The uniqueness of this study lies in the creation of the People Analytics for Well-being (PAW) Framework, which integrates well-being, engagement, and data ethics dimensions within human resource analytics systems. This study theoretically broadens the discussion of Human Resource Analytics and, in practice, offers ethical guidelines for organizations to balance productivity and employee well-being in the hybrid work era.

Abstract

ASEAN economic integration aims to build an efficient banking sector that channels funds and maintains market liquidity, thereby increasing firms’ values. The performance of financial intermediation and banks' liquidity in the region has been unstable since the pandemic; nevertheless, this has not benefited firms, as it has driven their values down. The present research seeks to measure the impact of financial intermediation and market liquidity on banks' value in ASEAN and to explore differences across countries. By relying on a panel dataset derived from 80 banks situated in five different ASEAN countries during the years 2015–2023 and applying the Dynamic Panel Data method focusing on the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM), the study concludes that, in general, both financial intermediation and market liquidity significantly and positively impact the firm value, with the former being the stronger factor. Profitability fortifies this connection, while leverage seems to have no effect. The analysis of countries shows that the role of intermediation is largest in Indonesia and Vietnam, while Singapore and Malaysia are more affected by liquidity. The main contribution of this work is the simultaneous use of two important financial factors in a single dynamic cross-country model, which allows us to better understand how intermediation efficiency and liquidity together increase firm value. These results highlight the need for market integration policies and for improving intermediation efficiency to make the ASEAN banking sector more competitive.

Abstract

The global higher education landscape demands universities to continuously enhance their competitiveness through systematic quality improvement and international recognition. A regional Indonesian university (hereinafter referred to as "the Institution") has demonstrated significant progress in national and regional rankings, positioning itself strategically for global recognition. This study examines the Institution's strategic policy framework for achieving world-class university status through the implementation of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking system, targeting entry into the top 1,500 universities globally by 2027. A comprehensive policy analysis approach was employed, examining institutional strengths, strategic imperatives, and performance indicators. The study synthesizes data from national rankings (Edurank 2025, AD Scientific Index 2025) and institutional metrics, incorporating the QS ranking methodology framework. Results of the research, the Institution has achieved notable rankings including 27th nationally, 532nd in Asia, and 1802nd internationally (Edurank 2025), with recognition among 15 leading institutions nationally (AD Scientific Index 2025) and consistent top ranking in its provincial region. Three strategic pillars have been identified: World Class Research (targeting 800 Scopus/WoS publications annually), Internationalization (targeting 6 10% international students), and Global Reputation (targeting QS reputation score of 45%). The strategic transformation framework, grounded in regional competitiveness, talent quality, research impact, national reputation, and international investment, provides a robust pathway for the Institution's advancement. Implementation requires systematic monitoring through KPI frameworks, real-time dashboards, and accountability mechanisms incorporating process, output, outcome, and impact

Abstract

Purpose—This study examines how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosure affects firm value. It also assesses the moderating roles of profitability and leverage in the relationship between ESG disclosure and firm value. Design/methodology/approach—This study adopts a quantitative explanatory approach. The sample comprises 61 manufacturing firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2021 to 2023, yielding 183 firm-year observations selected through purposive sampling. ESG disclosure is measured using Bloomberg ESG scores. Firm value is proxied by price-to-book value, profitability by return on assets, and leverage by the debt-to-equity ratio. Data are analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling in SmartPLS. Findings—ESG disclosure has a positive and significant effect on firm value. Profitability strengthens the relationship between ESG disclosure and firm value, suggesting that financially stronger firms provide more credible ESG signals to investors. Leverage also moderates the ESG disclosure–firm value relationship, though its effect is weaker than that of profitability. Originality/value—This research contributes to ESG and corporate finance literature by examining how profitability and leverage serve as moderating factors in the relationship between ESG disclosure and firm value. It emphasizes that the significance of ESG disclosure for firm value is influenced by financial performance and capital structure. Implications—The results indicate that companies should boost their ESG transparency, ensure robust profitability, and optimize leverage to increase market valuation.

Abstract

A teacher has a crucial role in motivating the students, especially in EFL. There should be a way that can make gamification as popular an activity as learning a language nowadays. Many students feel pressure to learn something new or even hard for them, especially in a monotonous way. Therefore, a teacher can create games as a kind of media in EFL teaching and learning activity. Games offer students a fun-filled and relaxing learning atmosphere and encourage, entertain, teach, and promote fluency and communicative skills. This research is descriptive qualitative research that the subjects are 30 students of the Intermediate Speaking Class at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Lambung Mangkurat University. The result shows that there is a positive impact on students' motivation toward some games. They could speak more in a casual atmosphere in the speaking class and have better cooperation among the students during the reading class. The use of games that can motivate the students has been widely accepted as one of the critical factors influencing EFL learning success.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital technologies has transformed the tourism industry and increased the need for personalized recommendation systems to enhance user experience and business competitiveness. However, many small- and medium-scale travel agencies still rely on manual reservation processes and social media–based promotions, which limit service efficiency and personalization. This study designs and implements a web-based reservation and tourism recommendation system for Sumovacation Tour using a Content-Based Filtering approach enhanced with feature weighting and cosine similarity. The main novelty of this study lies in the feature weighting mechanism, which assigns different importance levels to package attributes such as activities, travel duration, package type, and budget, improving recommendation relevance compared to standard content-based methods. Data were collected from Google Maps reviews in 2025, resulting in approximately 300 rating and review entries. The recommendation engine computes weighted relevance scores from user preference tags and package metadata to generate personalized recommendations. System functionality was validated using Black Box Testing, where all core workflows successfully passed, while usability evaluation using the USE Questionnaire showed high user acceptance, with usefulness, satisfaction, and ease of use each scoring 94.4%, and ease of learning reaching 95.2%. During testing, challenges related to data consistency and user input variation were addressed through input validation. The results show that the proposed system improves recommendation relevance while enhancing operational efficiency by reducing manual booking handling and supporting digital reservation management.
