Abstract

Writing argumentative essay poses a significant challenge for English students, who often struggle with expressing opinions, organizing ideas logically, and using appropriate language structures. Despite the importance of assessing writing skills at early stages, few reliable instruments exist that are specifically designed to evaluate argumentative essay. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable analytic rubric to assess students’ argumentative essay skills, focusing on six key components: clarity of thesis, organization and coherence, supporting evidence, argument development, language use, and vocabulary range. The research employed a design-based development approach, incorporating literature review, expert validation, and empirical testing. Content validity was established through expert judgment (S-CVI = 0.95), and the instrument was pilot-tested with 85 English students. Statistical analyses demonstrated high inter-rater reliability (ICC = 0.87) and strong internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.89). Descriptive data revealed that while English students showed emerging abilities in thesis clarity and grammar, they struggled with supporting arguments and maintaining logical flow. The resulting rubric serves both as an assessment and instructional tool, helping educators diagnose English student needs and promote writing development. Unlike general-purpose rubrics or those designed for advanced English students, this rubric is specifically aligned with the challenges of early-stage academic writers. The study contributes to closing a gap in writing assessment tools and provides a practical resource for use in EFL classrooms

Abstract

The point of this study is to ascertain and examine the effect of Land and Building Tax and Acqustion Duty of Right on Land and Building both partially and simultaneously on DKI Jakarta's Original Local Government Revenue in 2017 – 2022. The population of this study includes data recapitulation targets and PBB-P2 and BPHTB revenues in 2017 – 2022. Through the use of purposive sampling, the sample was selected.. Associative quantitative is the method of data analysis used in this study. t and f tests for testing hypotheses. The outcames of this study show that BPHTB (X1) has a significant positive effect on PAD DKI Jakarta. This is indicated by a significance value (Sig.) 0.011 < 0.05. PBB-P2 (X2) has a negative significant effect on PAD DKI Jakarta. This is indicated by a significance value (Sig.) 0.019 < 0.05. BPHTB (X1) and PBB-P2 (X2) have a simultaneous effect on PAD DKI Jakarta. This is indicated by a significance value (Sig.) 0.032 < 0.05.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pentingnya pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis sebagai bagian dari pendidikan untuk menghadapi tuntutan kompetensi abad 21 di kalangan siswa sekolah dasar. Studi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan fokus pada tinjauan literatur sebagai pendekatan untuk menyelidiki konsep keterampilan berpikir kritis dan aplikasinya dalam konteks pendidikan dasar. Melalui analisis yang mendalam terhadap berbagai sumber literatur, penelitian ini menyoroti relevansi keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam beradaptasi dengan perubahan, mengambil keputusan yang berbasis bukti, dan memecahkan masalah kompleks. Temuan dari studi ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana pendidikan dasar dapat meningkatkan persiapan siswa untuk masa depan yang kompleks dan dinamis dengan memperkuat keterampilan berpikir kritis mereka. Implikasi praktis dari penelitian ini dapat memandu pengembangan kurikulum dan strategi pengajaran yang lebih efektif dalam mempromosikan keterampilan ini di tingkat sekolah dasar

Abstract

In English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching and learning, teachers frequently design their own tests to measure students’ skills, monitor progress, and evaluate instructional effectiveness. However, most previous research on teacher-made tests in EFL writing has centered on essay types such as descriptive, argumentative, narrative, expository, and comparison-contrast, leaving opinion paragraphs relatively underexplored. Addressing this gap, the present study describes the systematic development and validation of a teacher-made test specifically designed to assess opinion paragraphs. Conducted in a paragraph writing course at a private university in East Java, the study adopts a genre-based approach and draws on the design-based research (DBR) framework proposed by Cavallaro and  Sembiante (2021). The instrument consists of two components: a writing prompt and an analytic scoring rubric. Its quality was ensured through a comprehensive validation process, including content and face validity (involving two writing instructors and eight students) and inter-rater reliability testing by two trained raters. The resulting test provides a cohesive, valid, and reliable formative assessment tool for evaluating EFL learners’ opinion paragraph writing. The inter-rater reliability coefficient (r = 0.85) indicates a strong positive correlation, supporting the consistency and reliability of the scoring rubric. This study not only contributes to the enhancement of teachers’ assessment literacy but also offers a practical model for developing and validating classroom-based writing assessments in EFL contexts.

Abstract

In improving the mastery of Teacher of Counselling and Guidance’s service skill requires counselling and guidance supervision. In implementing this supervision, the most common agreement is to make contact section with a supervised client for several time periods. There is a model of the supervision process which is very useful to explain some of these issues that is by analyzing the reflection of the counselling process. Focus of this level is the client by analyzing what is said, how the various parts of client’s life is interlocked, and what the client wants from the oversight of the supervisor’s feelings in response. The grabbed information provided a guidance to see the cases which unconsciously can be articulated by supervisors. This library research was performed to explain the best method which can be applied by supervisors in conducting supervision to their client.

Abstract

This aim of article was to analyze the system boarding school at SMA International Islamic High School (IIHS) Jakarta, and the implementation of boarding system school in forming the spiritual attitude of students in school. The research method used qualitative research by using a descriptive approach. The data sources and secondary data sources. The data collection method in this research used observation, interviews, and documentation. Method of data analysis by means of data collection, data education, data display and drawing conclusions or verification. The result showed that the implementation of the boarding school system in shaping student’s spiritual attitudes through that delivery of Islamic Studies material as Islamic knowledge and daily worship habits such as praying 5 times in congregation, reading dzikir, learning Al-Qur’an. Abstract

This research discused the phenomenon of the interest in learning English among Papuan students, especially in the Jayapura university. The purpose of this research was to find out and examine emergence of interest in learning and ethnicity factors that influence among Papuan students. The researchers used a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The data collection technique used observation, interviews, and documentation study. The data data collection tools in the form of observation, questioner, interview, and documentation. The research findings showed that the interest in learning English among Papuan students still low, it can be seen from the score of students learning in the class, this was due to the ethnicity inherent in the people of the Papua. Abstract

The students was the lack of enthusiasm for English learning. Students sometimes get bored in learning process. The purpose of this research was to improve how to get well students at SMP TMI RQ Metro in acquire English vocabulary material for class VIII A. The researchers used classroom action research, either in Cycle I and Cycle II. Data was collected through observation, interviews, tests and documentation. The result showed that 9 out of 20 students passed with a percentage of 45% in the observation cycle I. 11 students with a completeness level of 55% were students who did not complete. with an average value of 70.75. Hence, the classical completeness of the first cycle is 45%. It was observed that 80% of 20 students, 16 of which completed it during the second cycle. Four students with a 20% completion rate did not complete the course. with an average of 80 points. As a result, a typical cycle II is 80% complete. In other words, the results of the second cycle of observations succeeded in obtaining the KKM score that had been determined by the school and the completeness of the learning objectives for students.Keywords: Student Learning Outcomes, Vocabulary Material, Alphabet Games

Abstract

This study attempted to determine the teaching greetings and partings using YouTube as a media of learning at MTs Ma’arif Roudlotut Tholibin, the formulation of the problem in this proposal consists of a question about the use of YouTube as an effective learning media in teaching greetings and partings for 7th grade student of MTs Ma’arif Roudlotut Tholibin? The purpose of this research is to find out whether YouTube is effective as a learning media in teaching greetings and partings for 7th grade students of MTs Ma’arif Roudlotut Tholibin. This study uses the one-group pre-test post-test design method with pre-test and post-test. Data was collected using a test consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions and 5 essays. The population in this study were 7th grade students of MTs Ma’arif Roudlotut Tholibin in the 2022 academic year and researchers used purposive sampling taken from class VII, which consisted of 20 students as the research sample. Data were collected through tests. This study chose one class with the aim of the researcher wanting to provide opportunities for all students to better understand the greeting and partings material in class. The researcher wants to invite all students to take part in the greeting and parting material. The results of the study found that YouTube as an effective learning media was used in learning greetings and partings on the data that explained the post-test (7.6) was higher than the pretest (2.09). This shows the use of YouTube as an effective learning media in teaching greetings and partings for 7th grade students of MTs Ma’arif Roudlotut Tholibin.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of profitability, leverage and firm size on tax avoidance in automotive sub-sector manufacturing companies and components listed on the IDX. In this study using quantitative descriptive methods. The type of data in this research is secondary data. The data collection technique used was purposive sampling. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that profitability had no effect on tax avoidance. Meanwhile, leverage and firm size have a significant positive effect on tax avoidance.
