Abstract

This study aims to reveal the dynamics of the relationship between Kiai and santri in traditional pesantren. This research deconstructs the relationship between Kiai and Santri in the Indonesian socio-cultural context. Through a critical approach, this study examines the dynamics of power and cultural influences that color the relationship. By analyzing various sources, this study reveals the complexity of the Kiai and Santri relationship that goes beyond the traditional teacher-student relationship. The results show that the relationship between Kiai and santri in traditional pesantren is built on the basis of strong religious and cultural values. Kiai holds a central role as a spiritual leader and teacher, while santri place themselves as obedient and respectful students. This relationship is characterized by a clear hierarchy, where Kiai has great authority and influence over santri. However, the dynamics of this relationship do not always run smoothly. There are potential conflicts that arise due to differences in interpretation of religious values, differences in socio-economic backgrounds, and the influence of changing times. Kiai are required to be able to maintain a balance between maintaining traditional values and adjusting to the demands of the times and their relevance to social and political changes affecting the relationship between Kiai and Santri Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap dinamika hubungan antara Kiai dan santri di pesantren tradisional.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the main factors underlying the glory of the Mughal Islamic empire by using a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data are collected through literature study of books and ebooks. The results of the research prove that: Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar was the first Muslim ruler who could maintain his position for a long time, not merely to fulfill his personal ambitions but to take advantage of his position as a king to unite all Mughal society under his rule. To realize the vision, Akbar must legitimize his government and build a strong military superiority among his pluralistic society. The sulh-i-kul or tolerance for all policy that he implemented became a driving tool for several subsequent policies such as the abolition of the jizyah, the establishment of ibadat-khana, and the application of din-i-Ilahi to unite the Mughal community in building a superpower empire based on universal tolerance. Without the basic ideology of sulh-i-kul, the Mughal society could not have become a famous empire back then.

Abstract

Religion is a very important thing for its adherents who can easily be known and can also be seen. Increasingly magnificent mosques, religious party habits (especially Islam) are increasingly revealing as the reform era, which in turn is marked by the plurality of religious symbolism of society, is an outward appearance that is easily visible and seems unnecessarily disputed. Humans as the center of the formation of Islamic teachings is demanding the creation of human religious inclusivism on earth. This conception of religious inclusivism will be created in human civilization dynamically and harmoniously when the universal consciousness of human brotherhood is formed. The conception of inclusivism as the articulation of plural and pluralistic human phenomena is essentially expected to give birth to the concept of the unity of mankind (universal humanity, ummatan wahidah).

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines Al-Farabi’s concept of happiness (al-sa‘adah) and analyzes its relevance within the framework of Islamic educational philosophy. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework to ensure a rigorous and transparent synthesis. From an initial pool of 1,750 records identified across academic databases such as Google Scholar and ResearchGate, 30 high-quality peer-reviewed studies published between 2000 and 2025 were selected based on strict inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using manual thematic analysis following the six-stage Braun and Clarke model, with inter-rater reliability validated by two reviewers (Cohen's Kappa > 0.75). The findings indicate that Al-Farabi views happiness as the ultimate aim of human existence, attainable through the perfection of intellect, ethics, and spirituality. True happiness is described not as material prosperity but as a stable inner state achieved through the union of the human intellect with the active intellect (‘aql al-fa‘al). From an educational perspective, this concept underscores the need for a holistic Islamic education model that integrates intellectual development with moral and spiritual cultivation. The study also highlights the implications of Al-Farabi’s Madinah al-Faḍilah, which illustrates that individual happiness is inseparable from a just, ethical, and well-governed society. Nevertheless, this study is limited by its reliance on textual interpretation and the absence of empirical analysis. Future research is recommended to explore the practical application of Al-Farabi’s ideas in contemporary Islamic educational institutions and to examine their impact through empirical or mixed-method approaches.
