Abstract

The nature of science and is something that is very important to be taught in elementary schools. In the field there are not many studies that involve learning models in an effort to develop the nature of science, both from the dimension its aspects and the nature of science itself. The purpose of this research is to reveal how the inquiry model affects the ability of the nature of science and its aspects of students in elementary school. The method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental pre-test and post-test one group design. The subjects of this study were fifth grade elementary school students with a sample of 36 students. The instruments in this study used test questions (products), student observation sheets (process) and questionnaires (attitudes). The results showed that the P-value = 0,000 < 0,05. So H1 is accepted. Thus, learning with the inquiry model significantly increases the product dimensions (cognitive) of students in elementary schools. The measurement of process dimensions through observation has an average value of 58.2% and is in the sufficient category. To measure the dimensions of attitude using a questionnaire in measuring the 10 basic properties its aspects, data analysis is on good criteria. In general, the inquiry model can have an influence on the ability of the nature of science and its aspects of students in elementary schools. For further research, it can be developed using other models/approaches/strategies/methods, in order to improve students' ability to the nature of science and its aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pedagogical competence required for character education development, particularly in PAK, and the importance of role modeling in its success. The research uses a descriptive analysis method on teaching modules and project documents based on PAK designed by teachers at the secondary education level in Lampung. The findings reveal that pedagogical competence must be supported by teachers' personality, social, and professional competencies. The integrity-based learning protocol, as part of the PAK module, is designed to instill values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and courage in students. Teachers' role modeling, demonstrated through integrity in and outside the classroom, is a key element in building an educational ecosystem of integrity. This study recommends strengthening pedagogical competence training to ensure the sustainability of PAK implementation in schools.

Abstract

This paper tries to show how objectification tends to occur in family, community and school education. Theoretically, objectification is opposed to subjectification. Objectification means positioning children, students or individuals as objects of education. On the other hand, subjectification is their positioning as subjects or active agents of learning. For this reason, a ‘middle way’ conceptualization is needed so that a conception of education in families, schools and communities is obtained that is oriented towards facilitating the natural development of students’ potential or nature

Abstract

Sustainable waste management is a responsibility for consumption and production, by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to data from the Karawang Regency Central Statistics Agency, in 2021, it is estimated that the amount of organic waste produced every day in the Village X area will range from 16.13 to 18.43 tonnes. This high amount of organic waste is a major problem regarding the region's environmental cleanliness and health. People at Village X Waste Bank are trying to utilise organic waste as food for fly larvae (maggots), but the success rate has only reached 30%. Research in Village X in October 2023 aims to determine the problems faced and strategies for optimizing maggot cultivation. The sample consisted of three informants, namely Village X, the director of Waste Bank X, and Village X staff. The research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, and the analysis technique for strategy formulation was Fishbone Diagram analysis. Based on the analysis, the factors causing problems at Bank Sampah X include: lack of knowledge and training, obsolete machines and unsupportive funds, lack of facilities and infrastructure, inappropriate waste characteristics, lack of communication and monitoring, lack of role of local youth organizations, presence of maggot predators, and lack of role of local youth organizations. Monitoring and evaluation activities are strategies to overcome these problems.

Abstract

The philosophical foundation of Pancasila, comprised of five principles, plays a significant role in shaping Indonesia's education system. These principles guide curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation, reflecting the nation's educational goals and desired student outcomes. This paper examines the philosophical underpinnings of Pancasila, with a focus on content and graduate competence standards, examining their relationship with educational objectives and their implications for the national curriculum. Utilizing a literature review methodology, the research highlights the critical influence of Pancasila on curriculum development and educational planning in Indonesia. The findings indicate that Pancasila serves as a central philosophical framework guiding Indonesia's national education system, with a particular emphasis on character education, tolerance, citizenship education, and inclusive learning. The study reviews the evolution of content and graduate competence standards in Indonesian education, drawing attention to changes in government regulations and the philosophical assumptions of Pancasila. However, further research is recommended to explore the influence of these assumptions on other educational standards.

Abstract

Salah satu aspek penting dalam matematika yang perlu dikuasai oleh siswa adalah geometri, yang mencakup sifat-sifat, hubungan antar unsur, serta proses pengukurannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hambatan belajar siswa pada materi geometri di tingkat sekolah dasar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus, dengan melibatkan tes tertulis untuk siswa serta wawancara dengan siswa dan guru di sebuah sekolah dasar yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Bondowoso. Hasil analisis berdasarkan dari teori learning obstacle adalah; a) Epistemological obstacle yaitu siswa tidak mampu menggunakan rumus keliling dan luas persegi serta persegi panjang, kemudian siswa tidak teliti dalam menggunakan satuan keliling dan luas; b) Ontogenic obstacle yaitu siswa tidak memahami konteks permasalahan keliling dan luas persegi serta persegi panjang, kemudian siswa tidak mengingat rumus keliling dan luas persegi serta persegi panjang; c) Didactical obstacle yaitu siswa tidak mampu menggunakan rumus keliling dan luas persegi serta persegi panjang. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu guru dalam memahami hambatan belajar siswa pada materi geometri. Selain itu, temuan ini dapat menjadi dasar pengembangan untuk merancang rencana pembelajaran yang lebih bermakna, yang disesuaikan dengan hambatan belajar yang dialami siswa.

Abstract

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is an important educational conceptual framework. Researchers and educational practitioners work together to create Pedagogical Content Knowledge studies. Researchers and educators collaborate to gain a deeper knowledge of PCK and how to use it in real-world circumstances in the classroom through research and field experiences. The current analysis included research progress on PCK aspects from 2014 to 2023, namely the progress in the number of global publications on PCK aspects in the Scopus database from 2014 to 2023, the core journals of international publications in the field of PCK studies, the productivity of researchers in the field of PCK studies, the number of which originates from collaboration in international publications on PCK aspects of study, the development of international research publications, and the development of international research publications. The global publication Scopus instrumentation view database was used in this investigation. Data collected from Scopus was based on the terms instrumentation, instruments, measurements, medical instrumentation, virtual instrumentation, instrumentation system article title, abstract, and keywords of 2014-2023. The data comprised the number of years, daily posts of instrumentation features, author, and author's origin. Microsoft Excel was used to evaluate the data points. The VosViewer program was used to track the progress of worldwide publications on instrumentation issues. According to the results and discussion of growth developments in the field of pedagogical content knowledge studies indexed by Scopus from 2014 to 2022, the maximum number of publications (17.75%) occurred in 2022. The map of the development of the pedagogical content knowledge field based on co-words was classified into 6 clusters

Abstract

Society 5.0 is a condition of society that is integrated with technology. This is closely related to the 4.0 industrial revolution which is also known as the disruption era. This reality is both a challenge and an opportunity for educators as part of society 5.0 in improving the quality of education as a vehicle for building a critical, cultured, creative, and futuristic generation. Based on these thoughts, the long-term objective of this study is to build futuristic pedagogical competencies. The specific target of this research is to find a pedagogical best practice to increase students' digital literacy in the digital era in welcoming society 5.0 in Indonesia. The research model used in this study is a mixed-methods research model. The sample of this research is students of the University of Pendidikan Indonesia in the semester I with 25 respondents. The research instrument was the test material (pretest-posttest) and semi-structured interview guidelines. From the data analyzed, that the significant value of 0.000 <0.050 (H0 is rejected). This shows that the mean pretest score is significantly smaller than the average posttest score. In line with this, the results of the interviews show that students are more careful with information obtained from the internet after treatment in learning. In other words, the application of a critical pedagogic model has an impact on improving students' digital literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in increasing student participation, as viewed from the pedagogical competence of teachers. Pedagogical competence is an essential element that determines the effectiveness of learning, including in the implementation of PBL, which requires the teacher’s ability to design, manage, and evaluate problem-based learning processes. This study uses a library research approach, referring to various academic literature such as books, scholarly journals, and relevant dissertations. Data were collected from various sources discussing learning strategies, research methodologies, and the implementation of PBL in the educational context. Data analysis was conducted using a content analysis approach, through the process of identifying patterns, themes, and relationships in the analyzed literature. The research findings indicate that good pedagogical competence allows teachers to create a collaborative learning environment, motivate students to think critically, and enhance their involvement in the learning process. Furthermore, effective implementation of PBL requires teachers’ skills in guiding students to solve problems independently, so that active student participation can be realized. This study concludes that improving teachers' pedagogical competence, especially in the context of PBL, has significant implications for the success of learning based on active participation. Therefore, teacher professional development through training and pedagogical competence development programs is an essential step to support the optimal implementation of PBL. This research is expected to serve as a reference for educators and policymakers in designing strategies to improve the quality of education through strengthening teachers' pedagogical competence.
