Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of student learning activeness in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which is still dominated by teacher-centered learning approaches. The purpose of this study is to conceptually analyze the effectiveness of the Time Token and Talking Stick learning models in improving student learning activeness. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method by reviewing relevant scientific literature from the last five years. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Time Token model effectively enhances learning activeness through equitable participation in classroom discussions. Meanwhile, the Talking Stick model improves students’ cognitive readiness, confidence, and spontaneous participation. Comparatively, both models have distinct yet complementary characteristics: Time Token emphasizes equitable participation, while Talking Stick focuses on cognitive readiness. The integration of these models contributes to creating active, dialogic, and meaningful PAI learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of principals’ transformational leadership in enhancing teacher performance in Islamic-based schools through a systematic literature review approach. The findings indicate that transformational leadership has a significant and positive influence on teacher performance, particularly in terms of motivation, professionalism, work discipline, instructional quality, and organizational commitment. Among the leadership dimensions, inspirational motivation and individualized consideration emerge as the most dominant factors contributing to improved teacher performance, while organizational culture, job satisfaction, and professional development serve as key mediating variables that strengthen leadership effectiveness in Islamic educational contexts. This study implies that leadership development programs and educational policies in Islamic schools should prioritize transformational leadership competencies integrated with ethical and spiritual values to foster sustainable improvements in teacher performance and overall school quality.

Abstract

This study examines the meaning and practice of transformational Islamic leadership in strengthening religious school culture at SMA Al-Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung. Grounded in the premise that religious culture is not merely a set of ritual activities but a lived system of values shaping moral consciousness, this research adopts an interpretative phenomenological approach to explore how leadership practices are experienced and internalized by school actors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving the principal, vice principals, religious guidance teachers, and students. The findings reveal that transformational Islamic leadership operates through three interrelated mechanisms: spiritual role modeling that establishes moral legitimacy, empathetic and persuasive communication that fosters reflective moral awareness, and institutional policies that embed Islamic values into daily school routines. The study demonstrates that religious culture is constructed not through formal regulation alone, but through lived experiences, consistent moral example, and value-based institutional structures.

Abstract

Cooperative learning models such as Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) are approaches that focus on group collaboration, active student engagement, and improved academic achievement. The purpose of this study is to explain the concepts, characteristics, implementation steps, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the TGT and STAD cooperative learning models in learning activities. The methodology used in this study is a literature review, examining various academic sources including national journals, books, research articles, and other references related to TGT and STAD cooperative learning. Data collection was conducted through documentation and content analysis of the referenced literature. The findings of this study indicate that the TGT model has a key distinguishing feature, namely the use of academic games and tournaments, which can enhance learning motivation, engagement, social interaction, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. On the other hand, the STAD model places greater emphasis on teamwork, individual responsibility, personal quizzes, and group rewards, making it effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding, learning outcomes, and collaborative skills. Both models have proven effective in improving the quality of learning, as they encourage students to be more active, communicative, and collaborative. However, implementing these models requires effective classroom management, thorough teacher preparation, and sufficient time allocation to ensure that the learning process runs optimally. Therefore, the TGT and STAD cooperative learning models can serve as innovative strategies for improving the quality of education at various levels of learning.

Abstract

Students’ learning motivation in Fiqh instruction at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah remains a persistent concern when the learning process is predominantly characterized by conventional teaching methods and reliance on textbooks. Such conditions may lead students to become less active, less enthusiastic, and insufficiently engaged in comprehending religious subject matter. This study aims to analyze the effect of using ZEP Quiz-based video game media on the learning motivation of fourth-grade students in Fiqh instruction at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. Employing a quantitative approach, this study adopted a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 56 fourth-grade students, comprising 28 students in the experimental class who received instruction using ZEP Quiz-based video game media and 28 students in the control class who received conventional instruction. Data were collected using a Likert-scale learning motivation questionnaire administered in the form of pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain analysis, and an Independent Sample t-test through SPSS. The findings revealed that the mean learning motivation score of students in the experimental class increased from 64.20 to 84.47, while the control class increased from 61.85 to 74.77. The t-test results indicated a significance value of 0.005 < 0.05, demonstrating a significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, ZEP Quiz-based video game media is empirically proven to enhance students’ learning motivation in Fiqh instruction.

Abstract

This integrative literature review develops the Value-Embedded Teamwork Effectiveness Framework (VETEF) for Islamic educational institutions. Drawing on 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and two foundational monographs on team effectiveness, teacher collaboration, leadership, organizational culture, and Islamic work ethic, the review synthesizes how structural conditions, leadership practices, team processes, and Islamic ethical values jointly shape collaborative performance. The analysis identifies four interdependent domains: (a) structural enablers, including role clarity, adequate resources, team composition, training, and recognition; (b) leadership enablers, including shared vision, participative decision-making, conflict regulation, and external coordination; (c) team processes, including information sharing, psychological safety, shared cognition, and mutual accountability; and (d) Islamic ethical mechanisms, particularly amanah, shura, ukhuwwah, ihsan, and adl. Rather than treating Islamic values as supplementary moral discourse, the framework positions them as context-specific mechanisms that reinforce trust, dialogue, commitment, and responsible collective action. The review also shows that team effectiveness should be evaluated through multiple outcomes, including team learning, instructional and service quality, innovation, teacher commitment, and sustainable institutional performance. This article contributes to the literature by moving beyond descriptive accounts of collaboration and proposing a theoretically integrated model that can guide leadership practice and future empirical testing in madrasahs, pesantren, and other Islamic educational organizations.
