Abstract

Background: Coal dust is an environmental factor contributing to the risk of respiratory diseases. However, clinical evidence on the effects of coal dust in lung remodelling is currently lacking, especially the effect of eosinophils and IL-13. This study investigates how eosinophil and IL-13 affect pulmonary remodeling in coal dust and asthma combination models. Methods: An experimental study was conducted using BALB/c mice aged 6 to 12 weeks with a weight range of 20-25 g. There were 10 mice in each of the three treatments. Groups were sensitized with normal saline, ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized, and OVA-sensitized + coal dust. The parameters of lung remodeling (the thickness of epithelium, smooth muscle thickness, the number of goblet cells, and subepithelial fibrosis) and the number of eosinophils were measured with histomorphometry analysis. Total IL-13 concentrations were measured using an IL-13 ELISA kit. The data group of a combination of OVA + coal dust was analyzed using the path analysis method. Results:  From path analysis, it was found that Eosinophils (b=0.006; 95%CI=-2.594 to 2.606; p=0.000) had positive, direct, and statistically significant effects on IL-13. Eosinophil's indirect effect on epithelium thickness and subepithelial fibrosis thickness via IL-13. Interleukine-13 had positive, direct, and statistically significant effects on epithelium thickness (b=0.67; 95%CI=-0.129 to 1.471; p=0.010) and subepithelial fibrosis thickness (b=0.682; 95%CI=0.301 to 1.062; p=0.000).Conclusion: Eosinophils' indirect effect on lung remodeling via IL-13 and IL-13 directly affects airway remodeling, especially epithelium and subepithelial fibrosis components.

Abstract

Feed is one of the factors that affect the success of hatchery culture of mud crab (Scylla olivacea). The use of artificial feed in the form of microdiet can ensure availability, lower production costs and higher flexibility than natural feed. During this time the artificial feed used is a commercial feed, which is relatively expensive, therefore the need for research to produce artificial feed of good quality, with a cheap price.. The objective of this research is to determine the combination of raw material of artificial feed protein which produce dissolved protein content, protein hydrolysis degree and best protein content of feed. The experimental design used was completely randomized with eight treatments and three replications. The treatments were the use of various combinations of feed protein ingredients : A) 100% Artemia flour, B) 100% fish meal, C) 100% squid meal, D) 50% Artemia and 50% fish meals, E) 50% Artemia and 50% squid meals, F) 50% fish and 50% squid meals, G) 35% fish, 35% squid and 30% Artemia meals, H) commercial feed. The parameters used were dissolved protein content, protein hydrolysis degree and protein feed content. The results showed that the difference of feed protein raw materials had significant effect (p <0,05) on soluble protein content and feed protein hydrolysis degree. The highest content of soluble protein in in the diet with a protein raw material was squid meal, but not significantly different (P> 0,05) than Artemia meal and combination between 50% Artemia and 50% squid meals, but significantly different (P < 0.05) than other treatments. The highest degree of protein hydrolysis in the diet with a protein raw materials was Artemia meal, but not significantly different (P> 0.05) than in commercial feed as well as combination between Artemia and squid meal (P> 0.05), but significantly different (P <0, 05) compared to other treatments. Feed protein content according to the needs of mangrove crab larvae. Fat content with a protein raw materials was 100% artemia meal was higher than the need. Carbohydrate content with a protein raw materials were 100% artemia meal, a combination of 50% artemia meal and 50% squid meal and commercial feed according to the needs of mud crab larvae

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to public health, particularly about the oxidative damage caused by infection. Nigella sativa, known for its antioxidant properties, has been extensively studied as a potential therapeutic agent to reduce oxidative damage. This study aims to evaluate the effects of Nigella sativa administration in reducing oxidative damage in COVID-19 patients through a clinical and in silico approach. The research methods include a clinical trial on COVID-19 patients supplemented with Nigella sativa and in silico molecular analysis to identify the interaction mechanisms between the active components of Nigella sativa and SARS-CoV-2 proteins. The results showed that Nigella sativa significantly reduced oxidative stress biomarkers in patients, and in silico results revealed the potential of its active components to inhibit critical enzymes of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Based on these findings, it is concluded that Nigella sativa has potential as an adjunct therapy in reducing oxidative damage in COVID-19 patients. Further research is required to confirm these results through broader, more in-depth clinical trials.

Abstract

Background: Lung cancer is one of the main contributors to malignancy and leads to the patient's death. The immune system, genetics, and inflammation affect lung cancer progression. Zinc (Zn) is an essential mineral; a Zn deficiency increases the tumor suppressor's expression, damaging deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair ability in tumor growth. The study focused on establishing a relationship between serum Zn levels and lung cancer patients' clinicopathologic characteristics. Method: Thirty-five patients diagnosed with lung cancer were part of the study. The study collected clinicopathological data and serum Zn levels at the initial diagnosis. Serum Zn insufficiency is characterized by a below 80 μg/dL serum Zn level. Results: The median Zn level in our study was 65 μg/dL (range=56.5-73 μg/dL). Serum Zn deficiency was observed in 91.4% of patients, particularly those who had a smoking history, advanced stage, or had hypoalbuminemia. The low-level group exhibited significantly lower albumin concentrations (3.06 g/dL vs. 3.66 g/dL; P=0.024) than the normal group. Conclusion: Most patients with lung cancer at initial diagnosis had a deficiency in Serum Zn, which was associated with hypoalbuminemia.

Abstract

This study explores how millennials debate culinary businesses, focusing on consumer tastes, brand aesthetics, and halal certification. The basic assumption is that the “halal logo” for the community is not a standard for the business. The method used in this study uses the library research method. The main issues in the study of food business issues to obtain halal certification and the issue of debate among the millennial generation.  Stages in data collection techniques are Inventory, Critical Evaluation and Synthesis. The data that has been collected is analyzed descriptively by general data to specific data so as to find conclusions that can become recommendations. The study found that while branding isn't part of the halal assessment, it strongly connects to Indonesia's majority Muslim community. Although including halal products, the basic ingredients of these products are not easy to produce at will. When halal food is stored in one place with haram food, it will cause the food to be contaminated, such as chicken stored in the same place as pork. From the same side, the obligation of halal certification is carried out as a form of state effort in providing security for its citizens in consuming food. Between the two understandings, literacy is needed for the millennial generation where certification and labeling of halal products based on protection, fair value, definite legal value, responsibility and openness, effective and efficient, and competent have implications for public comfort in consuming food for food that is proven to be halal. Millennials are becoming aware that brands with elements seen as forbidden can face public scrutiny, impacting their products. This often leads to short-lived success, with businesses fading away and ultimately financial loss.

Abstract

Introdution:Exposure to airborne pollutants such as lead (Pb) can cause health problems. Fuel stations are one of the places with a high risk of Pb exposure sourced from fuel or motor vehicle exhaust emissions. This research aims to know the effect of Pb exposure on hemoglobin levels and lung function in fuel station workers. Methods: This study was observational, analytical, and cross-sectional on 40 fuel station workers in South Banjarmasin District. Urinary Pb measurement was carried out by spectrophotometry, then the relationship to peripheral blood hemoglobin (Hb) levels and lung function was analyzed based on FEV1 (%), FVC (%), and FEV1/FVC ratio with a simple linear regression test. The data met the classical assumptions of normality, heteroscedasticity, and with no autocorrelation. If abnormal distribution was found, data transformation was carried out. Results: Study obtained urinary Pb levels below the normal threshold of 0.0356±0.0074 ppm. Respectively, urinary Pb levels did not have a significant effect on Hb levels (mean±SD:14.39±1.41, adjusted R2:6.2%, p=0.067), FEV1 (94.15±6.93, 5.8%, p=0.074) and FVC (89.68±6.24, 0.5%, p=0.380). However, urinary Pb significantly correlated with decreasing the FEV1/FVC ratio (90.87±3.36, 10%, p=0.026) with the equation y=96.550159.454x even without any obstruction value. Conclusion: This study showed that urinary Pb levels were normal. An increase in urinary Pb levels has a significant effect on decreasing the FEV1/FVC ratio. Prevention to reduce the health impacts of Pb needs to be taken. More research on at-risk populations with longer years of service needs to be done

Abstract

Multiple Voting Share (MVS) is classification of shares in which every single one share can prodive more than one vote to shareholders eligible. The revocation was indicated in the regulation of Indonesian Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (POJK) number 22/POJK.04/2021 about implementing the classification of share voting right multiple or multiple voting share who released officially by December 2021. This similar line with the regulation of BEI (Indonesian Stock Exchange) then released. There is special notation, specially N notation, its given to issuers that has recorded on market exchange. Multiple voting share is identified as total asset and free float ratio as well. This study attempts to testing whether N notation (total asset and free float ratio) are impacted on stock price on multiple voting share. The benefits on this research is giving the investors informations about the notation, that they have to be careful, and avoid significant risk, This research is an explanatory method, backed by secondary data using. The technique of analysis is statistic testing classic assumption as normalty, multicolinierity, autocorrelation and heteroskedasticity to full fill the regression in completely. The Result found that 0,077 of total asset in partial is no effect on the stock price, While the 0,127 of free float ratio in partial is no effect on the stock price too. The score of these independent variables is above the alpa five percent, so both total asset dan free float ratio none that influence to the stock price.
