Abstract

Experimental research about Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning model has been conducted in one of senior high school in Bandung. This research aimed to analyze students’ understanding of momentum and impulse concepts by using TSTS learning model. Students’ conception were identified by multiple choice-diagnostics test using Certainty of Response Index (CRI) scale. Research method was pre-experimental design with one group pretest posttest design involving 37 students as research subjects. Results showed that profile of students’ understanding of momentum and impulse concepts were increased from 16,8% in pretest to 70,6% in posttest. Effectiveness of TSTS learning model was reflected by N-gain of 0.64. Keywords: concept of momentum and impuls, CRI, two stay two stray (TSTS)ABSTRAKTelah dilakukan penelitian eksperimental tentang model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray di salah satu SMA di Kota Bandung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi momentum dan impuls dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran two stay two stray (TSTS). Pemahaman konsep siswa diukur dengan tes diagnosis berupa tes pilihan ganda dengan menggunakan skala Certainty of Response Index (CRI). Metode penelitian adalah Quasi Experimental dengan desain One Group Pretest Posttest yang melibatkan 37 orang siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa SMA pada materi momentum dan impuls setelah pembelajaran meningkat, yaitu 16,8% pada pretest menjadi 70,6% pada posttest. Keefektivitasan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model TSTS ini dapat dilihat dari nilai N-gain sebesar 0,64.Kata kunci: CRI, konsep momentum dan impuls, two stay two stray (TSTS)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop computer-based experiment of free fall movement to improve the graphical literacy of the Physics Education students. This study employed quasi-experimental design, particularly the pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample was 58 students of the first semester of Physics Education study program. They were divided into two groups, namely 38 students constituted an experimental group and 20 students constituted the control group. Both groups joined learning activities at laboratory and classrooms with the same topic which is the free fall movement. Computer-based learning models were used to design learning activities for the experimental group, while the control group used a traditional learning model with manual experiment with stopwatch and never use experiment tool of free fall movement. It was indicated in this study that the use of such learning model improved the graphical literacy capability better than the traditional learning, which covered ability to identify experimental variables, using the experimental tools, making a graph, formulating mathematical equation, making predictions on the basis of the graph.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berargumentasi siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran fisika dengan model pembangkit argumen menggunakan metode saintifik dan tanpa menggunakan metode saintifik, serta memperoleh gambaran mengenai hubungan antara keterampilan berargumentasi dengan kemampuan kognitif siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan model pembangkit argumen menggunakan metode saintifik. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain randomized control group pretest–posttest design. Populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MIA pada salah satu SMA Negeri di Kabupaten Pemalang. Sampel sebanyak dua kelas yang dipilih secara cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan keterampilan berargumentasi siswa di kedua kelas. Namun, besarnya peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen lebih signifikan dibanding kelas kontrol. Selain itu, terdapat hubungan yang kuat dan signifikan antara keterampilan berargumentasi dengan kemampuan kognitif siswa yang mendapat pembelajaran dengan model pembangkit argumen menggunakan metode saintifik.ABSTRACTThe purposes of this study were to determine the difference between the generate-an-argument instructional model using scientific method and without scientific method in improving student’s cognitive abilities and argumentation skills, and to determine the correlation between the argumentation skills and the cognitive abilities in the generate-an-argument instructional model using scientific method class. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental with randomized control group pretest-posttest design. The population were all of students in X MIA grades on one of the senior high schools in Pemalang district. There were two samples that chosen at random cluster sampling. The results showed that there was an improving of student’s cognitive abilities and argumentation skills in two classes. But, in the experiment’s class there was more significantly improvement student’s cognitive abilities and argumentation skills than in control class. In addition, there was a strong and significant correlation between argumentation skills and cognitive abilities of students having lesson implementing the generate-an-argument instructional model using scientific method.

Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan jaman yang semakin pesat, peran pendidikan menjadi sangat penting dalam mempersiapkan peserta didik agar memiliki keterampilan abad 21. Salah satu upaya untuk menjawab tantangan ini dengan merubah peran guru dari dari penyedia dan peyampai informasi menjadi fasilitator untuk berbagi informasi dan pengetahuan serta melatihkan kemampuan memecahkan masalah kepada peserta didik. Pembelajaran konstruktivisme menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam melatihkan keterampilan abad 21. Model pembelajaran project based learning dan problem based learning menjadi model yang paling poluler pada pendekatan konstruktivisme. Namun, masih banyak para pendidik yang mengalami kebingungan dalam membedakan dan mengoperasikan  kedua model pembelajaran ini. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini mengulas persamaan dan perbedaan antara project based learning dan problem based learning, serta menjawab apakah kedua model pembelajaran tersebut mampu melatihkan keterampilan abad 21.

Abstract

Along with the increase of world’s energy need in one hand and of the impact of its uses in the other hand, conservation is indispensable. This paper describes pre-service physics teachers’ knowledge about energy conservation, how they use their knowledge to make energy-related decisions, and how their self-system toward energy conservation. The data presented here are from selected items of a field test of instrument intended to measure energy literacy that involved 123 pre-service physics teachers from three state universities in Indonesia. They are one state university in South Sumatera and two state universities in West Java. Data from this survey study were analyzed qualitatively. Results showed that pre-service physics teachers were still lack of knowledge and knowledge utilization to make energy-related decision. However, they showed a tendency to engage in energy conservation efforts.Seiring meningkatnya kebutuhan energi dunia di satu sisi dan dampak penggunaannya di sisi lain, konservasi menjadi sangat penting. Artikel ini menggambarkan pengetahuan mahasiswa calon guru fisika tentang konservasi energi, bagaimana mereka menggunakan pengetahuan tersebut untuk mengambil keputusan, dan bagaimana self-system mereka terkait konservasi energi. Data diperoleh dari uji lapangan terhadap instrumen yang ditujukan untuk mengukur literasi energi yang melibatkan 123 mahasiswa calon guru fisika dari tiga perguruan tinggi negeri di Indonesia. Ketiga universitas negeri tersebut adalah satu berada di Sumatera Selatan, dan dua berada di Jawa Barat. Data dari penelitan survey ini dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan mahasiswa calon guru fisika kurang dalam pengetahuan dan penggunaan pengetahuan untuk membuat keputusan terkait energi. Namun demikian, mereka menunjukkan kecenderungan untuk terlibat dalam upaya konservasi energi.

Abstract

Problem-solving skill is one of the fundamental skills that must be mastered by students in the 21st century. This study identifies the enhancement of students’ problem-solving skill in oscillation and sound wave concept by utilizing multimedia based integrated instruction (MBI2). The subjects of this research were 30 junior high school students in Bandung-West Java. Data and analysis result showed that students’ problem-solving skill was enhanced in moderate criteria, showed by Ngain value of 0.57. Therefore, it can be concluded that MBI2 can enhance students’ problem-solving skills in oscillation and sound wave concept.

Abstract

Fluid pressure is considered as an abstract concept so that an innovative method must be used to help the students understand it correctly. We introduced Above Ground Storage Tank (AST) to the students to help them grasp the fundamentals of fluid pressure and evaluated how this approach improved their scientific communication ability. Based on their ability in communicating the mechanism of fluid pressure, students were able to organize their knowledge, delivering their knowledge to other people, and making a better conclusion after the introduction of AST. Thus, it can be concluded that the introduction of AST can improve students’ scientific communication ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the communication and collaboration skills improvement of junior high school studentsin learning science using Integrated Multimedia-Based Instruction (MBI2). This computer multmedia has been designed by researchers and it focuses on the reflection concept. The research subjects are 31 eighth-grade junior high school students who used this multimedia during four meetings learning. The method used is pre-experimental research withone-shot casestudy design. The results show that the students' communication and collaboration skills increases, shown by the average score of each meeting increases and the change in the low category into the good category. In conclusion, the use of MBI2in science learning materials particularly in the reflection concept can improve the communication and collaboration skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendesain kegiatan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada keterampilan kerja ilmiah, pengelolaan alat musik tradisional dan pengelolaan perangkat teknologi digital sebagai sumber belajar melalui matakuliah gelombang, selain itu mengetahui tingkat keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, dan respon mahasiswa terhadap desain kegiatan pembelajaran yang diterapkan. Desain pembelajaran dilakukan dengan cara studi literatur dan studi kasus pada sejumlah kelompok belajar (19 orang mahasiswa) calon guru fisika. Aspek-aspek desain dan keterlaksanaan pembelajaran dievaluasi berdasarkan pengamatan dan respon mahasiswa menggunakan lembar observasi serta kuisioner, sedangkan tanggapan responden dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan rating scale. Orientasi desain pembelajaran gelombang dalam penelitian ini adalah menghubungkan sains dengan teknologi dan masyarakat, mengintegrasikan konten dengan proses penyelidikan ilmiah serta sumber belajar yang kontekstual dengan objek atau peristiwa yang dekat dengan mahasiswa, sekaligus dapat membentuk nilai-nilai budaya. Secara umum setiap aspek dalam desain perkuliahan dapat terlaksana sepenuhnya, dengan rata-rata 98,12%. Sementara itu respon mahasiswa terhadap desain pembelajaran dapat diterima secara positif untuk setiap aspek dari implementasi program pembelajaran dengan skor rata-rata 399,91 (S). Disimpulkan bahwa desain perkuliahan yang dibangun dicirikan oleh sintaks yang meliputi kegiatan awal, eksplorasi, pemfokusan, penyelidikan/inkuiri, elaborasi, konfirmasi, dan kegiatan akhir/penutup, sedangkan sumber belajar melibatkan alat musik tradisional, komputer dan smartphone. Desain pembelajaran dapat mengembangkan kualitas ilmiah mahasiswa calon guru fisika yang diindikasikacn oleh porsentase keterlaksanaan yang mencapai target dan respon positif mahasiswa setelah diterapkannya dalam kegiatan perkuliahan.Design of Wave Learning to Form Prospective Students of Physics Teachers who are Skilled, Cultured and Literacy of Digital TechnologyAbstractThe purpose of this study is to design learning activities oriented to scientific performance, management of traditional music instruments and digital technology devices as a source of learning on wave courses, knowing the profile of the implementation of learning, and student responses to the design of learning activities that are applied. Learning design is done by means of literature studies and case studies in groups (19 students) prospective physics teachers. The aspects of design and implementation of learning are evaluated based on observations and responses of students using observation sheets and questionnaires, while respondents responses are analyzed descriptively based on rating scale. The orientation of the wave learning design in this research is connecting science with technology and culture, integrating content with scientific inquiry processes and learning resources that are contextual with objects or events that are close to students, as well as forming cultural values. In general, every aspect in the design of lectures can be fully implemented, with an average of 98.12%. Meanwhile student responses to learning designs can be positively received for every aspect of the implementation of learning programs with an average score of 399.91 (S). It was concluded that the learning design that was built was characterized by syntax which included initial activities, exploration, focusing, inquiry, elaboration, confirmation, and closing section activities, while learning resources involved traditional musical instruments, computers and smartphones. The learning design can develop the scientific quality of the prospective physics teacher students as indicated by the percentage of accomplishment that reaches the target and the positive response of students after applying it in lecture activities.
